It is over. I'm so happy. Not being one of the girls being bullied. Not getting too much trouble with teachers. It was not easy, but for some it was hard to survive.
Very average school, with teachers being not much empathic. Goal seems to be getting a higher national ranking of the school not guiding students to success. If you just want to work with students, who know everything and make no mistakes: your jobs are redundant. Most of the teachers are not able to work with people, not able to work with children.
good school academically with many excellent teachers, lots of the teachers really care about the students and help them succeed although I have heard about negative experiences with pastoral support
if you want to learn lots then i guess you might like it, but if you would rather socialise this is not the school because the teachers put so much pressure on you to do well and revise 24/7 so you never get time with your friends. i think if you want a good high school experience then this is not the place to go but if you want the grades then it is. it does get quite tiring when you have all this constant pressure on you for 5 years straight, but i guess some people want that so they do well.
Went here from year 7 through 11 - all I can say is if you struggle with mental health don't go here, just stay away. The school is great at keeping the facade of being caring with all their bs assemblies and pastoral support but really they just press you for academic achievement so they look good for incoming students. There's also been issues with racism and inequality from staff and students so unless you're white and middle class then oh well I guess. Also I would like to point out that if you aren't among the smartest in the year or smartest in a subject then you're basically given up on, they say you're getting equal support but you're really not. Lower sets get the worst teachers, something which is just really counterintuitive. I miss friends that still go there but honestly I'm glad I left.
im an alevel student and my form tutor went on a 20 minute rant about how "I don't understand why you're stressed, when I was your age I had it even worse than you lot but I never felt stressed" wow what an effective way to encourage and support us, thanks!
i literally go here and i couldn’t complain about it enough. what a bad place to be for your mental health. you think your school is bad? try coming here for a day. teachers make you want to just not bother turning up- so rude, many racist ones, make you feel worthless- overall just nasty adults picking on us. preach all about respect but don’t show us as a student let alone a human being any. my mental health sucks and it’s down to this school, couldnt ask anyone there for help as the “pastoral leader” is more concerned about the length of my skirt than my deteriorating mental state. but that’s shsg for you, only gives a damn about how the grades look to those poor year 6 kids enrolling at our school. i couldn’t be out of here fast enough roll on gcses
oh my days where does man start. the school is racist and does a such a bad job of being a grammar school like they wanna be a grammar school and thats it like they dont acc care abt our education like if we do bad then we get punished for it like why does it work like that, if im doin bad then help me init. that one biology teacher omds shes mad racist tho like only praises the white girls and if the white girls flop a test they had a bad day but if a poc flopped one we didnt try hard enough like woman are you mad. people in the school mad toxic too everyone jus gossips behind everyone's back. i swr down dont come here jus go somewhere else dont waste 5-7 years in this hell hole it aint worth it
worst french department ever out of all the schools I've been to: teacher humiliates you when you make a mistake, horrible teaching and they don't want you to succeed. one time i made a mistake in class because the teacher wrote the wrong thing on the board and they embarrassed me in front of the whole class telling me that i don't work hard enough and basically made me feel worthless as a student. when a classmate pointed out their mistake they didn't apologise and said "mistakes happen!" and laughed it off - what a joke. also they practically laugh in your face if your pronunciation isn't on par and give no feedback on improvement..
School tries too hard to be like other top schools, but fails horribly. Teachers push you to breaking points without any regard about mental wellbeing. Teacher attitudes suck the spirit out of learning and force you to hate your subjects and going to class
Despite a dominating ethnic and non-White student presence, the school often brushes them aside and ignores any racism complaints and scandals made by students.
Overall a horrible experience
