The school is excellent. They are making considerable efforts to impress new parents; however, our children need access to better classrooms, particularly in the older buildings, as some are quite outdated.
The new teachers who joined this year are a breath of fresh air. The new Headmistress is highly effective and very supportive.
Sir William Perkins's School is not worth paying the yearly school fees. My child spent a very short time of her school life at the school before we decided to take her out. Many things that were of concern were brought to our attention very early:
1. The conduct of some the teachers towards the girls are unacceptable and
complaints are ignored.
2. The school fails to follow their own digital learning policy - the girls are on
snapchat, youtube, tiktok and other social media platforms throughout the day.
There is absolutely no encouragement for the girls to socialise.
3. The pastoral care is non-existent. You an forget it that your daughter will receive
the guidance when she needs it most. However, she can colour in and hopefully
that will help her with whatever she is struggling.
4. 2 hours of homework is set everyday. However, these tasks often take longer
than 2 hours and the girls spend their evenings doing homework.
5. If you make a team, you can play sports. There is no encouragement from the
school nor enough opportunities set for the girls to stay active and to socialise.
6. Only the finance team cares - they will send you endless invoices for fee to be paid
in lieu of notice and not willing to listen to your concerns as they do not deal with
safeguarding or the complaints process.
7. Neither the governing body nor the head has your daughter's best
interest at heart. For them it is your £20,000 that is the most important. hope
the new head shows some interest.
