Horrible school. Care more about your appearance than getting bullied. They do have a handful of amazing teachers i’ll never forget but they failed me day in day out. Wonder why i hated going to lessons, was late every day and was having panic attacks multiple time a day. They need to punish those who bully other students not then students who are so scared they can’t even go to lessons. ITS EMBARRASSING ON THE SCHOOLS BEHALF. Told me i was gonna fail gcse's don’t think so passed both english, maths and photography. Rp you failed me and now i have no happy or good memories from your school. You could have helped me so many ways when i opened up and nothing was ever done.
I rate it 2 for many reasons but I'll start with the positives the teachers for the most part are brilliant the way they teach maths especially they make it very easy to understand when I went I had amazing help from the teachers with and mental and educational struggles but they give out punishment for silly reasons when I went you wasn't allowed to go toilet during lesson changeover and I've heard that it's still the same they ended up locking them when I went and refused to open them some teachers on the other hand seemed to have no grasp on how to deal with students some classes was ruled by the students and the school has issues with students going in the toilet to vape so to conquer this issue they had a male teacher stand outside the girls toilet when it was open you get isolation for silly reasons like getting to many detentions which they dish out over nothing like eating talking or even asking to go toilet they tend not to treat students like humans but more like dogs that need to be kept in line and they is also a unknown drug problem when i was their it was normal to be sniffing in the toilets and smoking cannabis vapes and my sister had a freind who k holed in the school grounds i wouldnt send a child their unless u want them to come back depressed or high
I'd 0 star this review if it was possible. Put simply, I failed my child when I chose this school as their education setting. A mistake that nearly cost my child their life.
The bullying began in year 7. Not isolated incidents blown out of proportion. Targeted, premeditated repeated bullying. Examples include: body shaming, singling out hair colour, weight, appearance...the list goes on. The face to face abuse evolved into online abuse via messaging and social media.
The abuse evolved into sexist remarks which my child's form tutor justified by explaining that, 'this is how this boy needs to start his day, by letting off steam with a joke around' at the expense of others. The tutor also informed me that other teachers had refused to teach this child and only he could manage him. By managing him, he meant letting the boy tear down others in his class without consequences. Great message to send to other children.
Months later and we finally convinced our child to trust the teachers and open up about the abuse. The response from the teacher was to tell my child they were being sensitive because it's nearly the half term and everyone is just tired. Bullying ignored by a second adult responsible for the safety of children.
The third teacher failed to protect when projectiles had been repeatedly thrown onto my child's hair. Glue from glue sticks, pencil sharpenings and on occasion, food. The teacher had refused to hear a child's cry for help and wouldn't relocate any of the children. We reached out for help and the teacher's response was to justify that the food thrown was not so bad because the food was unopened. I could not believe this was the response from a trusted adult about behaviours in his lesson to a concerned parent. And the third time vile treatment of a pupil was excused by weak teachers who sound equally scared of the bullies.
The next time my 2 children were let down was when the school decided to remove them both from lessons early to walk home together at the end of the day because they had been tipped off that my child was being threatened. Both of my children who were following school rules were singled out of lessons early at the expense of their education without parental permission while the bullies remaid in school without consequences.
Next came the physical assault in the corridors and abuse written on toilet walls is constant.
Pastoral teams asked my child if they would be happier at another school. This is disgusting to ask, implying they are the problem and a complete cop out from the staff. Another indication this school can not keep children safe.
We decided to transfer our child to another school too little too late. Self esteem has been ripped to shreds and failed by the staff (and us as parents for trusting the school for too long). You would think this might motivate staff to act. Think again. Since deciding to withdraw my child for their own wellbeing, the majority of communication from school has been harrassment from the school attendance team to tick boxes for their statistics. We had more communication during one week of absence. The reason: because the absence damages their statistics and makes them look bad. Deplorable.
Not understanding at all of parents and child's circumstances, very quick to issue out the fines, no flexibility at all. If you are after a school with flexibility and staff who are willing to listen to valid reasons for absence then Robert Pattinson Academy is NOT the place to consider. Very disappointed in the small minded militant attitude.
Treated poorly i have adhd and autism and the assistant head told me i choose to behave the way i do and it’s not my needs. Got spoken about infront of me by teachers, and the head teacher wouldn’t refer me to a school that would meet me needs even though it was requested by my paediatrician i could write a book on how i got treated leaving me with ptsd and my anxiety is so much more worse, will be being reported and so much more will be written.
Absolutely loved the production of Les Miserables last night , a fantastic effort with amazing vocals and professionalism. the overall story was acted beautifully. the students and staff should be proud of themselves!
Attended this school for five years. Was a decent school for two years and the SENCO supported me through a diagnosis. Then the new headteacher implemented many new rules and uniform became more strict, making students feel as if they cannot express themselves nor be themself. It became very anxiety inducing and a stressful environment to be in.
Not a very safe space for LGBTQ students when so many of their classmates get away with rude and discriminatory comments daily. Lots of lack of diversity.
Places of education should not be restricting children from expressing themselves, especially as they go through such an important part of their lives where change is constant. Teachers and staff did not treat students like they should have, acting as if all students were immature and detentions for hair being 'too short' was ridiculous.
Wouldn't recommend, once I left I only truly realised how restricted I felt by that environment.
Don’t care about us. We are treated like we only there so they can get more funding. Some teachers do care but rules restrict them from letting us be happy. New head teachers fault.
I used to go to this school, but transferred because I wanted a better education
Pros:
- good English and history teachers
- students weren't the worst (from a social aspect)
- Easy to navigate
I've been thinking for 3 minutes now and cant think of another good thing
Cons:
- will not punish the bad kids
- teachers are generally poor in the way they teach
- Intelligent kids do not exist here
- Sexism here is extreme, if you are a girl you can get away with everything
- Lots of smoking happens
- school is ugly and smells (literally)
Verdict - Go to William Farr or LSST for a better future
