No well-being support or care for students

As someone who went to the school in secondary and finished sixth form there a few years ago, I’d say there are a couple very good individual teachers but overall the school lacks any kind of well-being support. Many of my friends struggled a lot and the system completely failed them. They did absolutely nothing when my friends were h@rming themselves despite knowing about it, and none of them realised that one of my friends was extremely autistic and refused to accommodate her and instead treated her poorly. One of the teachers was fired a number of years ago for holding child p0rn. They didn’t do anything about bullying, despite it being prevalent, and there were regular stampedes in the corridors from the lower years.
That being said I enjoyed sixth form more as I was taught by some very good teachers.

Shenley is an awful school.

In my opinion, Shenley is a horrible school for many reasons. They try so hard to make it seem like were some big community but we aren't. Being happy here is so hard for a lot of students.Especially since there's racists, homophobes, sexist people, bullying, harassment, body shaming etc.

Even though these may get reported I think the school does an awful job at handling these issues. They had to do a whole surgery JUST for them to decide to put something in action. Says a lot.

They have a system for these things but they dont follow it. Trust me an N2 or N3 doesn't make an impact. If these things are happening, bring in the parents, give suspensions. Dont let it slide its not fair for anyone.

Another problem is how unfair teachers can be. Of course coming from a student it sounds like im just complaining but its true. Again in my opinion, teachers pick on the wrong things to focus on. I dont know why me wearing a bracelet or SCHOOL kickers somehow affects my learning? They're all about expressing ourselves but we can't do that. Jewellery can help students to identify themselves and some just because it looks nice and neither Is an issue. If you dont want to see it then at least set a limit to how much a person can wear not ban it completely.

Another problems

- overpriced food
-lack of understanding for students
-harsh uniform policy
- nothing being done about bullying
- creepy teachers not being fired
-not hearing out students

Anyways this is all, please for your children's sake dont send them to Shenley.

have a nice day.

Shenley Brook end school

Shenley had a few pros, they had teachers that were good educators, and they care about your grades but MANY cons, as a former student I experienced a lot of racism/micro aggression not just from students but partly from teachers that co-signed a lot of what happened. Not to mention I was sexually harassed by another student at that school and reported it, yet none of it was taken seriously. That school was a hell hole for many people of colour, and it is swept under the rug a lot. They have their priorities wrong, they focus so much on appearance (how students look, hair and uniform wise) rather than tackling the real problem at that school which was sexual assault/harassment and outward racism. Shenley is not the place to send a child of colour. I’m choosing to share this now as I have had time to process my time there, and when I reflect I think about all the negative experiences I had rather than good ones due to the severity of what happened to me.

Year 8

Go to hazeley

I currently attend the school and it is awful, the food is decent but is very expensive and is often not much for the price. Some of the rules are ridiculous, such as having to have your learning passport on you at all times, and not being allowed to wear your coat inside. Another thing is that you are not allowed on your phone at all, I was calling my mum because my grandad had just died and mrs potten in the ICT department took it away and gave me a 40 minute detention.the staff are often unjust also, there is a lot of bias to the girls in most departments, and also on top off that, they always look out for untucked shirts and collars untidy, but not the obvious vape deals going on. Most of the toilets are locked apart from at break time, meaning there is only one option to go during lunch and all other times. I often wished that I just chose hazeley

Time of my life I'd rather forget

Bieng in this school was an experience I would like to forget, funnily enough I now earn far more than Amy of the teachers in this school, each of whom told.me I would amount to nothing

Mr Clarke was the only good thing about this place.

Just meh

Quite a fair amount of teachers pick on students to the point the student cries. Well-being staff were great. The food is pretty bad. There have been multiple times where fruit had mould and food was undercooked, I recommend bringing a packed lunch. School did nothing about stopping the male students from harming female students; safeguarding I’d say could be a lot better. Not really a positive atmosphere in there, I’d rather forget my experience.

Highly recommend.

Everything is good except from the following:
-Year group bubbles tend to touch and mix up during transit time(not on purpose).
-Hand gel is absolutely disgusting 🤮.

Sbe during a pandemic

I think they have handled it very well
When there is a case students that will need to isolate are taken out within 30 mins and they have an effective way of doing it with seating plans on the system. Lots of mask wearing everywhere apart from classrooms and when you are eating. Lots of hand sanitizer available to everyone. Only downside is after form time and after year11 lunch bubbles mix
