Overrated and a disappointment

Had two kids ther. Teachers don’t care really and headmaster is completely out of touch despite his academic pedigree. You pay a lot and are expected to do the heavy lifting. No support for university really except for top 20 percent who need to keep the Oxbridge state alive and well for next round of over cop s parents wanting the best education for their young children. Overall each year I feel more disillusioned by the school and the integrity of the system. I was especially enlightened as how weak the school was during 2020 -2021 COVID and all seems to have gone downhill. IB is a sham and pointless anbd has no reflection on what students can do in the real world. It is not the hold standard nor better that ALevels. It is just that Sevenoaks relies heavily on the expat and foreign student maker to pay the fees particularly boarding which is meh. and Sevenoaks school has absolutely no way to support its students through IB relying on parents and extra supplementary tuition. My kids have had no benefit from attending as it is up to you in the end to figure out getting a job or even an offer. I regret spending this money and could have saved/invested this more wisely for my and their future. I guess if you want to believe the hype you can but it is a thoughtlessly, largely careless school with abominable good. What was severed during graduation was a disgusting mess and the school would have done better ordering a local curry takeout.

Embarrassing

Putting it nicely, this school is an EMBARRASSMENT. Despite its reputation, I've personally witnessed and heard accounts of pupils being subjected to sexual harassment and bullying, only for these heavily serious issuesto be ignored by teachers which is a terrifying thought. The school's focus seems solely on maintaining its image rather than prioritising the wellbeing of its students. Additionally, the teachers come off as rude and have a severe lack of courtesy towards students and parents. Furthermore, there is a major lack of support(. both financially and and in the classroom)for students and parents, which has led me to take my dd out of the school. Despite this, the school food, which seemed to be another problem when my dd was there, impeoved quite a bit during her last term there

Massive lack of support

The support from teachers is very bad. Its their way or the highway.
You would expect more from the teachers and school. I would think twice before sending your child to sevenoaks

Idk IGCSEs and IB?

General review

Overall a really great school with good people and teachers. Some say that the academic culture is intense and occasionally toxic. However, I haven’t experienced this. Also the food has really declined over the last few years and got much worse with COVID. Not too much homework from Y7- Y11 but 6th form is hard. IB is a nightmare and don’t believe the videos of students saying that they enjoy it over A levels because I assure you 100% they do not. That is not just my opinion, I would guess 95% of my year dislike IB over A levels. It is much harder and forces you to take subjects you aren’t good it. The other great elements of the school make up for this and for me personally, it was not worth starting at a new school when I was settled at Sevenoaks.
