Senior Staff Bully Others

It was my last day recently and can finally say that there is one senior staff member who picks on and bullies not only some students but also a younger teacher even though this teacher is the kindest and most helpful person in the school and I have learnt more from her than I have from older and more ‘experienced’ teachers in the year she has worked at smhc. This older staff member has shouted at this teacher infront of us in the scott suite and obviously treats her differently than staff in her own subject, and this is why I am not going to sixthform as I do not want to be around negativity like that due to her being mainly in sixth form and hope my fave teacher is okay<3

The experience from someone who started when the college first opened

When I first started at college back in year 9 it was brilliant. The teachers were nice and the school was small so everyone knew everyone. When I carried onto sixth form, our head of year said that most of us is going to fail and should look for apprenticeships or start the year over with a BTEC course. Some teachers were so inconsiderate of the troubles of travel. I used to travel from quite far away via train, at the start it was okay but when sixth form started the college stopped supporting student with the minibus. Bear in mind that the train station from the college is just over 40 minutes. So, I made the effort to wake up extra earlier, pay more for my train ticket so I had enough time to walk to college. I used to wake up at 5am to get into college on time, and as you know the college finished quite late. Meaning that I missed my train and I usually have to wait about an hour for the next train in the cold, normally I would not even get home earlier than 7pm. When it got to practice mocks I asked my teachers for extra help because I was soo exhausted from the travel, but they said I should find a college closer by. They give me such a bad review that my new college did not allow me to restart my A Levels so I had to settle with a type of BTEC which I cannot study the course I wanted to apply for. I knew what I wanted in the first year of attending this college but they broke all my hopes. When greenshaw took over the college they completely destroyed the college, half our teacher left so some of our classes didn’t even had teacher, so it’s understandable that many students fell behind. I just hoped that students would get more support but it just got worse over time, then in less than a month half of the year group left.

Personal experience

Its horrible, they dont help with mental health and they are so useless. They have silly rules and are so strict. Teachers are shit and just don't do anything

Don’t go

Terrible school spreads false information about how you get lots of medical experiences but it is exactly like a standard school but with far stricter rules because they care more about your uniform than your grades. I am in year 10 and the only ‘medical’ experience I have had is watching someone do cpr. Most teachers have favourites and can be rude to people they don’t like. An example of a school rule is if you are told to roll your skirt down twice you get sent straight to IR where you sit in there for 5 lessons and an hour after school but it doesn’t go both ways so if a boy is told to tuck his shirt in twice he does not get sent but obviously the girls would get one which is silly overall just a bad school

vibes

incredible school with great resources, the teachers are lovely and willing to help you with both school and personal matters and easy to find your way around.

Parents please read

The uniform is overpriced and of poor quality, the teachers have no mutual respect for the students and there is no trust. It is abysmally understaffed, lessons frequently have no teacher to cover them. Lots of backward and authoritarian rules designed to keep students in place rather than educate them such as getting detentions for forgetting to bring a rubber. This school is awful and you should look elsewhere for your child.

AWFUL

A lot of the staff were lovely people. They encouraged you and were very efficient teachers. However, some staff members are horrific. I can't say all of what happened on here, as it will give me away. But, what I will say, is that the leadership team, comprises of some very 'interesting' characters. Whom show no respect towards their students, as well as downgrading their feelings. Another factor, is telling the students face-to-face, that they are lying about both mental and physical factors. I came to this school, with the high intention, that it was a very efficient college, with excellent support structures. IT IS NOT. Leaving was the best possible thing I did. Two very specific members of staff, whom I obviously won't name as I am not allowed, although I would if I could! Were especially awful, whom should never work with vulnerable people.

An official complaint will be made at some stage, with EVERYTHING that happened. When this is done, I shall be very surprised if nothing happens, as the actions of the two people are discriminatory and VERY unprofessional.

Another factor, is the impact of a certain trust which was joined. I think it was very interesting, that our brilliant previous head, whose brainchild was this college I'm pretty sure, left shortly after. Which makes a lot of sense.

I hope that my future complaints are taken seriously and not brushed aside, as this is extremely important and needs to be tackled. Additionally, this college, is definitely the most challenging. And by that, I obviously mean that it is one of the toughest working environments, especially with a particular receptionist and safeguarding officer, being horrific towards you.

Scott College

I absolutely love this school! So enthusiastic and caring. However, since being in greenshaw learning trust many small petty rules have been made. In Scott college you used to be able to express your true self but now the rules do not allow this. The ethos ** *** ******* is no longer in place however it is still a much butter school than most.

Good for grades

When I first came to this school it was amazing the teachers and headteacher were amazing, but now over lockdown the old headteacher has retired and we have joined the greenshaw learning trust, the special aspects to Scott have been lost the teachers care more about your uniform looking smart rather then other things that are important and we aren’t even able to use chrombooks as much, really let me down

Scott Medical and Health Care College

I recommend the schools to anyone who would want to work in the healthcare industry later in their life. The schools timetable is absolutely amazing. Students from year 9-11 have Science, English and Mathematics everyday. And the other subjects are your two choices. I found it brilliant that every week on the Friday, the last lesson is a type of work experience, there is so many opportunities to achieve from... Love this school and I found it amazing that I was part of the school when it has opened at the old building. Although I found that the new building is more free and space out.

Brilliant school feel safe going there everyday. Push me to the best of my ability and help me achieve. Never been to a school where every teacher knows all students and respects one another. Has brilliant teachers and small classes really help could not recommend this school enough.

Good school

Good school, always push you to do your best and give you a lot of opportunities. All the teachers are young so they understand mental health and everyday young people problems.
