My experience in Sacred heart Catholic high school
Sacred heart Catholic high school is good school and has good teachers. Few of their students are nice but majority of the students are not nice. The idea of hating a student is bad, laughing at a students because she did something wrong is also bad for example, during partical or trying to do something that is totally new to her. The idea of sobbing a student in a group because they don't like her is also bad,
the idea of making a new student not to feel welcome is also bad.
This school made me cry every day I come back from school because a student just hated me for no reason when I was trying to be her friend and the way it was so hard to make friends with my fellow peers. I always remembered this STATEMENT '' I HATE HER" and the fact that each time I always try to communicate with them, it is always difficult because I taught everyone hated me and never want to be my friend.
Shout at to all the teachers and the learning zone team you all are doing great. Leaving Sacred heart Catholic high school gave me a quote which I always love and cherish. I'll always remember TO BE BRAVE and TO BE MYSELF.
I’m aware everyone has a different experience but In mine it was awful! Teachers are unprofessional at times, take your phone off you and ask for your password in front of your face and start going through it for no reason like it’s there own phone, like who told you your aloud to do this, turn a blind eye on any sort of bullying as they don’t care at all and can’t be bothered to deal with it, look at some students that they think are the “bad ones” and make them in trouble for about anything but will look past the ones with a good rep and think they never doing anything bad, politically ran, “bottom naughty sets” they will not do anything or any work all lesson pretty much everyday and walk out with 0 GCSEs like I did myself and they don’t care, but will push the top sets to do very well, look at your behaviour but not the reason why it’s like this and what may be provoking it, just any reason to tell you off if they think your a one of the “bad kids”, also I would Truent a lot but it was because I didn’t want to be in school because I hated it and the people that were around me would constantly put me down I was surrounded with girls that would try to ruin my life, spread rumours of me when I wasn’t In so people would stop liking me and a lot more just because they were really jealous of me and wanted me to probs leave the school cos of them but didn’t happen anyways. In my experience I think this is one of the worst schools in Newcastle and I would never even dream of sending my own child here as I don’t want my own child to leave with really bad mental health like I did.
I`m an ex student from this school and I really do not recommend.
this school does not care about your mental health one little bit, they preach about it but they are the ones who make each students mental health deteriorate. the amount of students who sit along corridors and have panic attacks ect, is unbelievable and the teachers just brush it off and say your overreacting. the school counsellor helps at the minimum. if your struggling with anything and you ask to keep it private they will say yes but still continue to ring home. they preach and have assemblies weekly about "being yourself" but scream at you and put you in isolation when you wear the littlest of makeup or have natural eyelash extensions on. the only thing they do care about is your grades because if you get good grades it makes them look good as a school, but they don`t see the amount of pressure they put on students to achieve them. if you don`t get the grades they want you too they will constantly put you down for how bad your doing because you cant reach the standards of the "brainy top set students". it overwhelms us to the max as we then have no social life due to the amount of work load they give us which leads to having bad mental health which they do nothing to help. for example certain departments really try their hardest to help you and make sure you understand and they are severely underpaid. but on the other hand some departments do not care. when I was revising for my GCSE`s in may/June my English teacher was going over a few things and I put my hand up because I didn`t understand it and she repeatedly told me to put my hand down then when it came to doing the work I didn`t do it as I had no clue what I was doing, she came over and asked why I wasn`t doing the work and I told her many times it takes me a bit longer to process information and I didn`t get it and she just said "well you should`ve been listening" and walked away. another thing is lengths of skirts, every time I had my skirt rolled it was rolled 1 time because it was too big and they just said well buy another one but my mam refused to pay £40 pound for a skirt that was going to get used for a few months. and each time I got told off it was by the same male teacher who I genuinely thinks he finds joy at looking at girls legs. another thing is if you struggle with anything like ADHD, autism ect, and you struggle sitting still or fidget a lot so u take a little bit of blue tac or something very small to fidget with you will get told off for distracting other students. but please for the sake of your daughter please do not send them to this school.
This school has no idea how to deal with physical health conditions.
The senco does anything she can to avoid doing her actual job, meaning girls with disabilities are left with no support that they are entitled to.
It was very common to see girls crying in the corridors, usually over bullying which has been reported yet ignored. The schools response to this is they ‘don’t want to get involved in arguments’, basically meaning they can’t be bothered to deal with it.
The senior leadership team were absolutely useless, I was treated like a problem rather than an actual person.
There is also a massive accessibility issue, which the school claim they are not responsible for, as it’s an old building. Yet, they won’t make any reasonable adjustments (such as moving classrooms), so I spent most lessons in a small room on my own.
A substitute teacher made a ‘joke’ about my disability, we reported it but never received an apology from the teacher.
I had no personal emergency evacuation plan, so (unknown to us at the time) I had no way of getting out if there was a fire (thankfully there was not).
Racism is a massive problem for most students, yet ignored as the school seem too scared to deal with it correctly.
An English teacher refused to let me leave lessons early (I had a pass for a medical condition) and made me feel embarrassed about my condition in front of a class. The same teacher refused to send me any English work for a year when I wasn’t well enough to attend school, so I was left massively behind in lessons. She then gave me a very low grade at the end of the year, despite not sending me any work or even letting me sit the assessment.
I have been left traumatised from the way I was treated there, and am glad to have finally left.
I really hope sacred heart improve, as I don’t want anyone to go through what I did. No student should be made to feel like an outcast for having a disability they cannot control.
Our daughter has been a SHHS student for 3 years. She is happy and thriving in this excellent high school. Their academic programme is rigorous and their staff do a wonderful job of maintaining a safe and encouraging environment for the girls. I am thoroughly pleased with the school and am quite happy we chose it for our daughter.
this school gives off a spooky feeling. it could be the girl as they are all wrong in the head.
a lot of them are pregnant or have had too many sausage rolls at Greggs.
please improve your food cause it makes me feel ill.
I don't like the fact everyone here haven't been in the shower.
also they don't give any shits on bulling.
lastly I saw ants in one girls ants so please make that your top priopoirity or i will not be able to sleep tonight.
awful school
They don't care about mental health all they care about is how your uniform looks, your attendance, your behaviour and your grades.
They dont deal with bullying at all!
Don't trust the teachers with anything you tell them they will pass it on to your parents even if you ask them not to.
And last but certainly not least the ofsted inspections they will do absolutely anything to make sure they get the best on the inspection they once threatened to exclude me if i was seen in the corridors during the inspections.

Most of the teachers are racist. Because today I have been told to take of my MASK, when I didn't felt like doing it. And told me and my Friends to not go on the grass while white students were walking on the grass. Most of the teachers DID NOT even CARE about our education but what we wore in school like some people chose to Wear a mask .
Avoid this school. It gas gone downhill so badly. Not at all like it used to be. My daughter is a good girl, happy enjoyed school at primary then went to this school and has been so badly bullied by teachers, i now struggle to get her to school
Would give no star if possible, this school has gone badly downhill, girls fighting in school, teachers bullying girls, such a shame as this used to be a very nice school,
This school is awful. I don’t know why I didn’t leave sooner to be honest, I have pretty severe bpd and the school did not help whatsoever. I had psychosis and I got screamed at by the head of pastoral for not being in my lesson LOLLL. Go to UTC it’s so much more fun. All I learned from sacred heart is...
Do your mathswatch on time or you’ll get pure rinsed, and if your skirt is not below your knee you will be burned at the stake.
Also side note the Sixth Form is wayyyyyy better they actually treat you like a human there.
This school is not what it seems, the only time they act like they say they do is when there’s inspections happening. They care more about your skirt length then your mental health. They give these mental health assemblies, preaching about the support they give which is zero btw. The counsellor is no help at all anything I told was straight back to my parents and the same crap I was told over and over I just had to lie because of the lack of help I received. Bullying is a major issue that is never solved even if they say they do. My sister was bullied and not one teacher did anything, I had to sort it myself. Teachers only like you if you’re smart and do well in tests and if you do bad, instead of helping you understand they just don’t bother and target you in the lessons and blame you for not revising even id you don’t understand the topic. There’s very rare teachers you find that are actually nice and will support you the rest don’t give a crap about you and will not understand that you need a break.
This school is not a school you want to send your daughter to unless you want to destroy her mental health, give her no time to socialise as she’s overworked and taken up by the bucket load of homework she’ll receive.
Some teachers are alright but overall it’s bad. They do nothing to support your mental health and do nothing about bullying. My sister was bullied and nothing happened, I suffered with mental health I got sent to the counsellor for a bit and after the summer holidays they have no support. The only thing they care about is your grades and don’t recognise the effort you put in. Don’t go to this school if you value your mental health!
Hello! So I’m a student at this school and this is my opinion first problem: teachers: my teachers for a good half of my subjects are absolutely horrible and mean to us my friend once got told of and gave a detention for drinking a sparkling water that the school literally sells. Like what the hell. The only good teachers I’ve met are from the music department and the RS department. Next up rules. Get ready for this one folks! No phones at all if it is found by any teachers then it gets confiscated for either till the end of a week or if it’s on a Thursday or Friday bad luck for you because you have to wait a full on week to get your phone back! Also teachers sexualise all student by there being a rule that all skirts have to be over the knee and can never be rolled up not even once or else one hour slt detention for you! This school encourages being yourself but does the exact opposite by not letting you have any fashion sense at all bracelet? Detention and confiscation. Next up mental health: my mental health and confidence has been plummeting to the ground ever since the start of this year. I have had several panic attacks but the learning centre will help which is the only good thing unless if you don’t have access to it. Next up Classes: oho so I’m in a medium low set meaning that we are seen as dumb and get bullied all the time for being brain dead and etc. the school does nothing about this and carries on as if nothing happened but you not having an unnoticeable badge on your blazer is more important. Never ever send your child to this school, you will certainly regret it, oh yeah one last thing heh if you have claustrophobia then don’t even think about it because you can’t fit a full 3 sets of student in a hallway and sometimes the lunch line reaches to the very top off the school it’s absolutely ridiculous how there are 12 years and 6 form but they can’t fit 3 sets in the same hallway together also the stair are a big problem as I fall down them all the time when students cluster and try to get some Lunch until there isn’t any left for anyone. And the top sets are bombarded with homework and high expectations I don’t get how this school is even still open for business as I’m pretty sure this list must violate a guideline. Also the lockers are absolutely tiny like just a tiny square box in a form class or hallway. Overall 0/10 school don’t recommend to anyone.
the teachers say they care about mental health but all they are bothered about is taking our phones of us for a week, skirts, having our hair down ect. me and my mam both tried to tell them my problem and they didn't answer until it go really bad. also my form tutor has ignored all my mams emails and makes me sound bad when im not in form. its not good being only girls because there are arguments everywhere and bitchy girls. the teachers dont explain things very well which is not good and if you try ask for help they tell you to put your hand down. toilet wise if you ask to go to the toilet they will say no even if you have a pass. if you tell them you have a pass they will ask you why you have one which they should not be doing. dishing out concerns thinking its going to change our behaviour is not helping. also yellow slips (coming from a year 7), definitely need to go. they are useless. they make people want to stay off more because they make people worry so much. people can catch up on the work just by a friend explaining to them what they have missed. if you are late on them you have a 30 minute detention which is at lunch. then you will get into trouble for being late to period 4. teachers say we had all brake to go to the toilet when we actually didn't because there is a teacher standing there 5 minutes before lessons start telling you to go to your next lesson. it's pathetic. i do not recommend this school at all. we also arent aloud to wear LGBTQA+ badges or other badges what mean alot to some. sort yourself out sacred heart!
Everyone thinks this places is amazing and the place to send your kids but in reality sacred heart catholic high school is shit they do not deal with bullying properly they do not care for mental health and the food ment to be amazing but they dont even cook the food right the place is absolutely shit do not recommend
This school is the type of school for students who want a good outcome. If you are willing to learn and willing to go far then this school has everything for you. Even if students don't want to learn or bother the teachers will still try to encourage you to do your best. In total, the behavior is better than other schools. There is very little bullying and because the school is smaller in size there is less space for students to hide and bully eachother. Girls who go on to sixth form manage to get into very good universities and have a range of opportunities. For students with learning difficulties and poor mental health, they are supported by staff one to one in the learning centre. This is one of the schools which want you to go far. The teachers want their students to get high grades because they care.
i haven’t even started doing my gcse’s yet and this school has already been the most awful experience ever, i honestly don’t even know where to begin.
i will start by talking about the staff there, there are a few departments in the school who are actually kind to their students, like the music, RS and IT departments, who are really helpful and understanding towards their students. however, most of the staff departments are unfriendly to their students and treat them like robots, only the students who achieve really high grades and are in top set get any attention, but they are also completely overwhelmed with work and stress put onto them by the teachers which leads to poor mental health and no social life due to the amount of homework they get. the lower sets are constantly reminded that they are not clever enough to be in top set and are picked on and told off for the simplest of things, anyone in between with average grades is just ignored. the work and lessons are overall honestly really boring and tiring so they are not memorable at all for exams. all students are expected to behave in the exact same way and are not allowed any individuality although the school preaches the message of “being yourself” but continues to ban any self expression like wearing any makeup, or having your hair in a different style etc, they also sexualise young girl’s bodies as soon as they start school there by creating a strict rule of them having their skirts knee length at all times and giving them literal detentions if they dare to roll them up even once which is a complete waste of time and makes no sense. also, the school preaches about having good mental health but students often have panic attacks in school and the teachers completely ignore it, there is a school counsellor who is really unhelpful and ignores and pushes aside any worrying behaviour from the students who seek advice from her. there is also a massive problem with bullying, racism and homophobia in the school but the staff are more bothered about the length of the student’s skirts or whether your phone is switched off than those major issues which happen everyday inside the school. there is also a weird rule where no one is allowed to go to the toilet during lessons and get told off just for asking to go, this doesn’t make any sense as it is an all girls school so they literally expect you to bleed through onto the chair if you are on your period in class. also, because the school is all girls none of the students there now know how to interact and socialise with boys which is not helpful for when they go to college, university or the working environment where there is a mixture of males and females. basically all the school cares about is their reputation so anything bad that happens it is always covered up, which is probably why everyone seems to think it is such an amazing school, but from my own and many other students experiences, it is clear that it is not. the school does not have a happy atmosphere and i really do not recommend that you go to it.
You'll get the grades that you need, but it'll crush your work ethic. Students in higher bands are overworked to the point of severely poor mental health, students in lower bands are pushed aside and have crisis cover called on them for something as simple as throwing a pen to a friend across the classroom. It's like an awful microcosm for society, somehow.
Mental health is constantly preached but students frequently have panic attacks in the corridors and have to be comforted by the poor RS teachers over the workload they have to take on, picked on by teachers that don't understand them or told off for ridiculous uniform rules. It's not uncommon for students with an anxiety disorder given to them by this absolute circus to feel dread long after being taught here when a phone notification goes off because of the unnecessarily strict rules on phone usage. Some departments like the art department and RS department are downright underfunded and teachers are pressured to buy student's supplies themselves. Some teachers are incredibly supportive, understand what students have gone through and are aware of how to help. Unfortunately they're just working in a school that doesn't seem to care unless you can achieve high grades. Which, by the way, has an added kick in the gut after GCSEs because if you even dare to achieve a 5 in a set of 9 and 8s on your results you aren't shown on their 'special recognition' for students that achieved well. Such a great message.
Uniform rules are ridiculous and crush individuality, students have to create specific ways to skirt around the rules to feel a little bit less like the robot that you're made to be. Only gets better if you move up to Sixth Form which hilariously has far better student happiness outside of the still awful amount of work you are given. Perhaps it's because of the relieved pressure on students to follow rules that don't make sense?
All in all, not great at all for anything outside of academic achievement. Send your kids to a different mixed school so that you don't screw up their ability to interact with men, because none of us can. At least the outside of the school is pretty, but it's a shame that you're not even allowed to touch the grass a majority of the time.
How this school manages to escape Ofsted every inspection I have no idea. The teachers are rubbish and the school has a massive bullying and mental health problem, the maths department is a complete failure and the counsellor either isn't fully trained or she's just completely incompetent. The amount of academic stress is ridiculous and it's not uncommon for there to be girls having panic attacks in the corridors, especially during March (GCSE Mock week takes place then) and May-June when the exams are. Bullying is never taken seriously and I have had friends be victims of sexual harassment from other students and the teachers just brushed it off. The music and art departments are the only two who are actually capable of being nice to their students, and the RS department has repeatedly traumatised me, other girls in my class, and many girls throughout the years due to using extremely gory and sexually violent case studies as part of the Ethics course in Year 12. High-achieving students are pushed beyond their limits and low-achieving students are constantly berated for their poor grades, while anyone in between is ignored. The dress code is supposed to make the school seem professional, but instead it sexualises the existence of girls as young as 11, as the students are expected to have their skirts no higher than their knee, while teachers can prance about wearing whatever they'd like, including short dresses with no tights Underneath. There is also the ridiculous restriction of students not being allowed to go to the toilet during lessons, which is entirely detrimental to their wellbeing considering this is a girl's school. You are literally expected to bleed through your skirt and onto the seat if you start your period in class. The school has a terrible phone policy that is turned into a complete double standard as the teachers are allowed to use their phones in class, but even having your phone go off or be seen in a pocket on the school grounds will result in it being confiscated until the end of the week, or if confiscated on a Thursday or Friday it will be kept until the next Friday. The school evidently has no consideration for its students who live far away or who have anxiety, autism, ADHD etc. as if they did, they would allow the use of phones in order to help these students regulate themselves and aid themselves in getting through their day.
Do yourselves a favour, find a different school for your daughters. St Mary's is actually competent and provides socialisation with both boys and girls, which this school does not, which is a major disadvantage when the students leave and go to university or enter into the world of work.

the idea of making a new student not to feel welcome is also bad.
