I hate it here i did the year 7 entry they responded to me saying that unfortunally I didn’t make it because their were lots of applicants and said that there were way better people 😡😤😖😣😠👿
From the outside this school looks great but the experience is very different particularly if your daughter has additional needs.
The school failed to work with us to find out what needs our daughter had and stopped a referral to CAMHS as they were so sure she did not have ADD/ADHD. They refused to share what they had written to CAMHS. No partnership working there!
Moved to a new school and a year later the new school suggested we have her assessed. 18 months later we got a diagnosis and the new school provided excellent support. What’s more we were not charged for addition support at the new school. RMS charges for everything including additional support for things like dyslexia.
Not a school I would recommend
Horrible experience at the sixth form. Students are treated like children and I was mocked and degraded by several members of senior staff. My weight was mentioned and my eating disorder was mocked in front of other students by the head of sixth form. This is ironic as no attention is paid to mental health problems. Homophobic bullying was never addressed and in black history month, the school head put up a picture of a different black athlete and said it was Serena Williams. Academics was also very poor, teachers missed large chunks of time and I know many bright students who were actively discouraged from applying to Oxbridge as it 'wouldn't be for them' or 'the odds are low anyway'. All round horrific experience and many people I know there are leaving in droves, particularly from the sixth form due to cruel, useless teachers.
The school has an issue with dealing with students correctly, and engaging with them positively. When faced with a case of racism they chose non-action, and told the (just 13 yr old) students of colour to come up with ‘an adequate punishment’ themselves, instead of taking responsibility in their role as staff, during this series of interaction one teacher said two slurs. This is an issue caused by the fact that they have LOW TO NO teachers of colour and pastoral staff, and ONE poc boarding staff member (Chinese) - despite having numerous students from different non-white backgrounds, who have to fight to be heard.
i was a student here for around 2 years and i can say confidently it was the most traumatic experience i’ve ever had. i came in year seven ready to start a school with a smile. when i refused to come back to school i wished to be dead , insecure about my body and felt like nothing to the whole world. my sister came out with severe depression, sh , an ed , anxiety and other various different mental health issues. if you’d want to ruin your child’s life i can assure you go to rms.
