Rougemont school is a wonderful establishment. My son attended from year 3 to sixth form and it was the making of him. He is now at Bath University and continues to love his studies. While not perfect, Rougemont comes close. The environment is lovely with excellent staff who truly care about the students. Pastoral care is excellent. They also provide a counsellor to support students with mental health challenges. They run Duke of Edinburgh awards which are character building and allow students to develop additional skills like team building, independence and confidence. We spent over £100,000 on our son's education at Rougemont and it was worth every penny.
The opportunitys are very good and limitless however the pastoral/welfare is bad. The school is stuck in old views when it comes to mental health and it is so poor that the students even joke about how bad the pastoral system is.
I have nothing good to say about this school. Our sons attended from age 3 to six form and we sincerely regret the decision. Horrid teachers who are only really interested in parents with money, 'ordinary' children are ignored. I know many other parents who feel the same as us. Dont waste your money, move to the Bassaleg or Caerleon catchment areas and put your children in scholl there for free - they'll enjoy it more, we promise.
