Rivington high school and the Leverhulme trusts issues
This school is terrible. Take your kids here if you want them to be bullied and don’t succeed. They won’t even have fun here, the teachers are terrible, the learning is unconditional and the learning hasn’t changed since the beginning of the school which is in the 1500. Seriously, find a better school in Bolton. Bullying is a massive issue in the ‘Leverhulme academy trust’ which extends to Rivington and Blackrod high school, harper Green school and soon the schools that will join the trust, lostock primary school. Literally the people that are famous at the start in year 7 will always be the bullies, through the years. This school is so bad it was put in schools that need work otherwise they will shut down which the government gave the school money out of £68m so they could build fire doors, which if you don’t know fire happens often in the Horwich town, near Sainsbury’s and the lower school site and the forest behind the upper school site. Harper Green school also has money out of that fund from the government so they can fix the roof which was super dodgy and harmful.
this school is horrible. i'm a student here at Rivington and Blackrod High school and i would not send your child here. first of all the bullying in the school is out of control.
i get bullied and name called with dirty looks. and it feels horrible. bullying affects most people in this school. the teachers don't do anything about it all they do is tell those people to stop and move on. these students do not stop and continue affecting other pupils mental health. secondly there is a one way system that's been around since the pandemic. i think this is a pointless system as we also have a round in 5 rule, students must be in lesson in five minuets and if not its a dt or a C3 (lunchtime dt). but with this one way system you have to walk around the whole school in and out of buildings, up and down stairs. so its kind of impossible to get there in 5 minuets. thirdly, teachers lie about multiple things like, how the school is "so clean" and how there is "no tolerance for bullying". don't even get me started on the gum underneath every single table. and how trash and food is all over the floor. students are made to bring a pen pencil and ruler to school and if not its a dt, swing on your chair its a dt, say one small thing it's a dt. whatever you do will be seen and you will be given a dt. our main building is very old and has not been fixed as the stairs are fallen apart and slippy, kids trip and cut there heads open on these stairs. and the classrooms stink. sorry for the rant but its needed as this is a horrible school.
This school is horrible they have grown men checking girls skirts which is disgusting.they do not care about there children either and make mental health worse.it doesn’t even deserve 1 star do not sent ur kids here at all.
They make anger issues worse by putting them on report instead of helping.isolation for small things like hair colour and nails.how is that going to distract people from learning also the bullying is absolutely appalling.DO NOT SEND UR KIDS HERE!!!
Absolutely horrible school lots of bullying going on and no teachers botherd! Not had a phone call back after pulling my child out because if on going bulling that's getting worse and nothing being done about it
I would just like to say that my stepgrandson has been attacked by an Asian pupil today.Whilst this and many schools have an enormous task on their hands, behaviour of this sort is just unacceptable and should receive the severioused form of punishment and I hope that those responsible will be dealt with accordingly.
Im in year 9 in rivington and blackrod and my views on it is basically just bad.
The rules are stupid. We get an after school for rolling our socks down in summer when we are absolutely boiling. Im a girl and i was on uniform report for a whole month by my form tutor who picks on me and non of the other teachers are doing anything about it.Teachers dont do shit about bullying, sexism, racist etc. The classrooms and ways of teaching is boring, i dont get barely any work done since i fall asleep most lessons. Teachers pick favourites which isnt fair. Dont get me wrong its not the worst school ever and sometimes its quite fun, but i would definitely go back in time and change my school options to a different school
School don't care about any problems you have, one teacher told me not to be friends with one person because he said an "offensive joke" also one person in particular would just body shame me,kick me, punch me and just be annoying every lesson and school did nothing about it
The teachers are horrible and some are pedos too so it’s not very good there’s this one annoying teacher and won’t shut up she told us how she poured water down someone’s ear which was not very nice and she’s a horrible person too. The only time I would want to go to that school was to beat some sense into the teachers
Let me just say this, this school is a horrible place and not very helpful for learning at all
Firstly, the teachers blame the students in assemblies for the school doing worse than other schools
also, the school does its best to look good to others, going so far as to tell the prefects to lie about certain things to people on open evening like how the one way system has ‘always been here’
it has not actually and it was brought in around covid. The school also acts like the one way system is something good when in reality it is just problematic as they also have a ‘round in 5’ (minutes) rule. The school is very big and following the one way system includes going up 2 flights of outside stairs and all the way around the school and then back down again, the teachers should not be mad if we don’t get around in 5 minutes.. not to mention it’s a dumb system because they can’t even enforce it properly. Students regularly manage to rebel against the one way system and to be honest I support them in that and have done it myself on the regular. why? Because the one way system is not even good, it just makes it harder to get around
Don’t even get me started on the bullies here. Since day one I’ve been bullied at this school, my accent was mocked, and the popular kids liked to make fun of me regularly, and have the teachers done anything about it? Barely. The bullies get a light (metaphorical) slap on the wrist and then they get to go on their way and continue treating anyone who isn’t a popular kid like they’re below them. Because of this my art class is unbearable since the popular kids all sit on one table and like to pick on the people on my table, aka throwing glue and food across the room at us, constantly bothering us and saying inappropriate gross things, they like to just repeat my name for no reason, and they make fun of my friend for meowing in year 7 when she was literally 11 and it’s none of their business and if that made her happy then good for her they’re just miserable bullies that don’t understand that just because people are different doesn’t mean you can bully them. Then there’s getting called racist for any retaliation against the bullies.
This is non stop and happens almost every time, not to mention a few years back when people found out about my arachnophobia they started making fun of me for it and talking about spiders when I’m nearby, trying to get me to look at spider pictures on the computer, throwing pictures of spiders at me, I still hear them mentioning spiders when they’re near me to this day. I’ve also had transphobes come up to me and start saying very gross and inappropriate things that was none of their business at all
My friends have pretty much all have experiences of being bullied also as this is not a rare experience in the school and is in fact very common. The school does not appear to know how to handle the bullying problem and in result, if you’re not a popular kid, you get bullied. Sounds like some sort of tv trope I know, but in my experience it’s true. the students at rbhs also seem to have very little tolerance for people with mental disabilities and we will often be the target of bullying because of it.
apologies for the long rant but there’s more to come, the outside area is actually atrocious. There is trash and food thrown on the floor everywhere and literally massive flocks of seagulls that come and bother everyone. don’t get me started on the tables in the school, they all have so much gum under them and it’s gross, and people also throw glue around in classes sometimes
Let me say this, I know you should never trust anything on the Internet. However, I am saying this from a personal point of view and with all due respect. I am putting this review here in order to express the reasons on why you do not want to send your child to this school.
First of all, My personal experiences. I stress waking up in the morning in order to go to school here because of the amount of bullying that happens here. The head of safe guarding for Year 10 and 11 does not do anything at all about this. She gave me a small book to write every incident of bullying in and then said she would check in every week. I gave up writing in this book after 4 weeks because she completely forgot and it was making me feel incredibly worse. This was a whole year ago and she still hasn't checked on me. Hardly any of the teachers care about the students and their mental health. They also are not trained to deal with mental breakdowns in the right way. I know this because I had a mental break down in a lesson and I got shouted at when I was a sat "not doing my work" when I was shaking, not being able to physically write. Now, let's talk about how they have dealt with me being a trans person in the school. They have tried to get me to join LGBTQ+ youth groups in my area, and I know you're probably thinking "How is that a bad thing?" I will tell you why, it's because it is the ONLY thing they have done. They haven't talked to me about it, they haven't asked me about my experiences and they haven't even suggested anything in school to stop the bulling that comes from me being Transgender.
Secondly, the outside environment. There is tons of litter, everywhere. As well as seagulls, and since the school is no where near any beaches or seas, they shouldn't be there. People throw water, juice, milk the list can go on. Bacon Bamps being thrown from one part of the school to another. There is bird poo all over the outside benches and hardly any shelter from rain, snow, hail, sleet. Ect.
Now the final thing is the students, this is a massive problem. If you're sat in the lunch hall, you are going to want to get out of there fast because you'll either have food thrown at you or bins. There are scissors, glue sticks, pens, white boards, books, bags, pencil cases, coats, mouse mats, keyboards and a lot more, being thrown around classrooms.
So, I would personally say, do not send your child here if you care about your child's mental health as well as them not being bullied.
Yours sincerely, A Concerned Year 11 Student at Rivington And Blackrod High School. Might I also mention that this review doesn't even stress how incredibly bad this school is.
The school has caused me to have severe panic attacks and breakdowns due to so many aspects which I can’t even begin to talk about.
Teachers are pretty hit or miss, they’re are some fantastic teachers however many couldn’t care less about their students.
The top set is the only priority and the only class any teachers really care about.
Some slt treat us like we aren’t people and look down upon everyone
Some of the teacher are alright, but some of them have stated that they’re only in it for the money in the end it’s a meh school and I probably learnt more out of school than inside school
