Man I just get in to the school and I'm already getting bullied its the WORST SCHOOL the teachers arnt ever in there always on break and lunch or "feel I'll" it's a joke I need education I'm already near year 8 I thought it would stop but it didn't I've talked to teachers and still nothing has happened it's just the get a iso and a 1 hour debt but still keeps happening so Rhyddings what you going to do about the bullying
Hello, just want to share a post on here about Rhyddings high school in Oswaldtwisle regarding my brother who’s in year 7. On Friday 21st June around 1pm another student has targeted him and gone and beat him up, he punched him threw him to the ground and straggled him to the point he couldn’t breathe. The student is quite big and muscular in comparison to my brother and he couldn’t fight him off as this student is much bigger than my brother.
There has been no explanation from the school or student as to why my brother was targeted and attacked as there’s no reason as to why this has happened to him. All we got from the school is it’s a Friday at 3:00pm we can’t do anything.
Miss Green head of year for year 7 decided it would be appropriate to take my brothers phone off him after this incident happened as she didn’t want him to call the family to let them know this has happened. The school nor the teachers informed his mother of of this matter till after 3:00pm when miss Green gave back my brother phone were she stood there next to him to make a phone call to his mum to say “Miss Green wants to speak to you”. I find it utterly shocking that this teacher for no reason has asked for my brother for his phone so he couldn’t contact anyone outside of the school to report what took place that day. Miss Green had a conversation with mum we’re she sugar coated the story and failed to mention taking his phone off him and that another boy strangled him and beat him up. In miss greens words “the boy was rowdy and just went for my brother for no reason.” for which I find hard to believe there is cctv footage which we have not yet seen but I don’t believe her words as no pupil just randomly attacks another pupil for no reason there was clearly so motive from the other pupil.
My brothers mum went to the office 10 minutes later after speaking to Miss Green off school ground. When she went in Miss Green refused to speak to mum as she said and I quote “I’ve already spoken to mum I’m not speak to her again” as she didn’t want to deal with the situation after her son told her the truth once he got in the car and explained the situation of what actually happened.
The school and staff are supposed to safe guard children however, failed to again as this is not the first time this has happened.
The bully has not been punished and my brother is expected to go into school on Monday and be in the same class with boy who tried to kill my brother my chocking him to the point he couldn’t breathe in my brothers own words. He is shaken from this situation as this has never happened to him he was corner and thrown against the wall all the students saw but no one helped. I’m absolutely shocked in the behaviour of this school this isn’t the first time fights and issues have happened but this is the final straw. Any longer he had his hands around my brothers neck strangling him who knows what could of happened. I’m appalled with the school and especially Miss Green the head of year with how she deals with things speaks all nicely hiding the truth gets her point and story across and then when the truth comes out doesn’t want to speak about it.
Would also like to mention another incident that happened at the school maybe about a week prior where my brother was waiting at the doors to leave through the reception and Miss Green said "don't open the door don't let him out" when his mother came to pick up as there was another fight were students ganged up on him. I really don't like the way this teacher has handled situations he's involved and don't know
what her motive is. The CCTV footage was
described as "nasty" by herself.
I'm so upset and will be taking this further. Just wanted to share this and let people know the type of school rhyddings is when it comes to bullying they don’t take matters seriously and brush it off.
My grandson keeps getting bullied , threatened. Been going on ever since he started last year. Had to take him out of school as he was attacked out of school from lads from the school. He was tapered slowly back into school . Now he back in in full days the lads on it again, meetings had with school no support. That school needs security guard who can patrol around school try stop altercations starting. Someone going to be really hurt their even killed. Terrible school. If my grandson gets hurt the police & telegraph & the prime minister.schools today have no control over the pupils it’s disgraceful.
It's a great school, wonderful teachers and facilities. Would definitely recommend the school. Plenty of opportunities for your child. Don't be harsh on the school, the reviews on here are from 8-9 years back. Things have changed.
This school is definitely not the one for those who want their kids to do well academically but if I don’t rlly mind about ur kid academically then this school is the best. It sucks having to go to school and facing what we have to face and get billed on a daily basis with being told majority of teachers ‘can’t do anything about bullying’ and we have to ‘go to our head of years ‘ it’s a joke. When our head ofnyesrs aren’t in where do we turn bcus when we turn to other teachers, but then we get told that there’s not really anything they can do about it - this is actually such a joke. I hate school bcus of this and I’ve tried everything to get school to listen but unfortunately it just hasn’t worked
Everything about this school was bad. The teachers didn’t ever know what they were doing, We didn’t learn anything and we always had supply’s and there was a massive teacher shortage so we always had teachers that didn’t really know the subject. The food is horrible. There was hair in my food sometimes and some people had mouldy sandwiches and nobody ever got a refund. Rubbish opportunities and rewards. Ridiculous rules. Can’t wear small stud earrings and can’t wear nail polish. You get debts for no reason. They take everything off you. They expect you to take your coat off the before you come in even if it’s raining. Only allowed to spend a max of I think £3 a day. Students think they’re big but they’re not as bad as other schools I think. Never help with outside of school problems. Not exciting at all. Everyone always leaves because it’s so bad. Teachers always leave hence the shortage. Never turn the heating on when cold and always on when hot. Limited toilet time. Nowhere to go at break and lunch. Favouritism. Don’t give any one to one or help.
this school is really bad because no actions are taken against bullying! Furthermore the school is always dirty and smelly the food always has hairs in it.the teachers always shout for no reason at all!
Well where to start terrible terrible school bullying the worst the food just ewww the way some teachers disrespect the students even substitute teachers have no respect do not send your child to this school if I could score it a zero I would do 100%
The worst the literal worst bullying not paid attention at all in fact it’s mostly victim blaming, yeah sure it’s my fault I got bullied the teachers have no respect for the students at all and expect it all the time the most ridiculous rules yeah sure having ear stud in distracts my teacher why are they staring at my ears a bit weird do you not think I hate this school from the depths of my being and the teaching and teachers less than adequate 🙄🙄🙄🙄
It's fine. Not as bad as how others make it to be, however it's clearly not the best school. I wouldn't reccomend it at all though. The problem is bullying is absolutely not taken seriously, students saying/doing innapropiate thins during learning times, and of course the insane amount of discrimination towards students who are not heterosexual by other students. And teachers, who show many microagressions and clearly have a racial prejudice, biggest problem. They do quite a bit about mental health but since joining this school my mental health severely changed for the worst. Well that's all i have to say, don't send your kids here if you care about their well-being, the education is fine though. Not amazing, but it's alright. Good enough to get me a job.
I wouldn't recommend this school, the teachers apart from a few of them listen when you need things explaining to you and bullying isn't taken seriously unless there's a fight and even then it's just oh isolation for both sides or exclusion if it happens again! Theres no proper expectations either.the sanctions dont do anything, new atudents get thrown out if they step out of line once, but yet certain individuals who repeatedly step out of line, disrupt lessns continuously don't get thrown out instead moved sets or classes to do d same thing! I know it's not what anyone wants to hear for a school however it's one of the worst (in my opinion) Teachers themselves say the schools fallin to peices in terms of behaviour and consequence systems. Also having to get busses to and from school that's not even our own until the other building is done if chaos. Theres all sorts of delays, engines settin on fire, busses smokin, runnin late, and even buses crashing into things! With all this in mind if I could score this school a zero I would !!!
Appalling results- some of the worst in the country if you go on compare schools.
Very much in a bubble where people are unaware what good teaching is.
Prices itself on community when this just masks poor behaviour and low expectations. Staff poorly dressed and the school is a bit of a mess.
If I could give this school a 0 I would. You have to now travel to burnley every day on a bus when we chose the school for convenience. Absolutely horrendous school with horrible people. You have been warned. Most students removed from year 7 because of the behaviour. Teachers do not help in anyway in fact my child has had 9 science teachers in 4 years nobody wants to go and nobody wants to work here to get verbally abused.
Rhyddings is a local school for students who just want to satisfy the legal requirement to get education by going to that school. It is an academic failure as neither the teachers are good at what they do (there are exceptions! The Geography teacher Mr B, History teacher Mr H, and Maths teacher Ms J are fantastic!) nor are the students. Bullying is never addressed and repeated bullying is regular occurrence. The students are loud, noisy, and disrespectful. The school is divided into "continents" which is an utter nonsense as well as students have to report to the continent leader if they are being bullied instead of being allowed to report an incident to a teacher of trust. My estimated GCSE grades at this school were 3 in English and 4 in Maths. When I left this school and sat my GCSEs I got a 7 in English and 8 in Maths!
