I came to this school thinking it would be great but bullying is big issue and not very fair, people think they can just get away it.But also if u compare this school to other schools this one isnt as nice or having all the newer good stuff unlike all other schools. It also took 3 years just for them to see i actully needed help but it hasnt really made an impact now as its too late, but also another thing the school lunch portions are small and highly priced for what u get and you dont get enough free school money £2.59 a day but we should get atleast the £4 for those that need to buy a drink aswell but the main issue is just thesize and potions. If your going to come to school then just be prepared,i dont like it and wish i had chose another school such as brompton but its too late now.Wish u luck!
absolutely terrible. they only care about your mental health if you are WHITE. safeguarding doesn’t exist at this school. A girl was seen today threatening another girl of colour saying she was gonna come to her house again( threatening behaviour if i say so myself). The girls mum pulled up and continued to harass the girl of colour. Absolutely terrible as a bystander seeing the teachers only intervene once there were physical alterations is disgusting not even whilst the girl was getting harassed on the streets outside of school. Disgusting school and teachers.
I'm currently at GCSE level, the amount of bullying you see here is astonoshing and horrid. Teachers do almost little to nothing about it, the 'naughty' kids who constantly get DTs, IEUs, ect and don'tshow up to lessons get rewarded/praised and the 'good' kids who get on with the work and are respectful do not. most of the lesson time is also taken up by the naughty kids as well, due to teachers calling an on call for them.
The food in the diner isn't necessarily bad but it isn't good either. My mate got food poisoning from the chicken once and almost all of the food is greasy as hell. I don't think i've ever seen a vegan option available besides the boring salad. The kitchen staff have a go at you for the silliest things such as entering the diner with your mate.
However, I adore the teachers I have and have a really good relationship with them so it's not all bad! But, some of the teachers are so horrible. My current geography teacher had a go at me due to my homework not being 'good enough' even though about 60% of the class hadn't even attempted theirs. She also picks on me and my friend a lot causing me to be distressed and upset when I got home.
So in summary: PLEASE DON'T LET YOUR CHILD GO HERE!
Made good friends and had good memories with them but had to stay in school durin exam season no study leave and led to an over all increase in stress. Most teachers are rude and give detentions for no reason or stupid things like having the top button of your shirt undone or even smiling at them when they’re in a bad mood. it’s ridiculous. The food isnt ok they don’t have a verity for people with dietary requirements. And people learning difficulties aren’t helped in classes and are expected to get support form lsu (learning support) but when they go to get help they’re looked down on and pointed out for being different.
Personal i believe that it builds up good life experiences and there are good events such as the Christmas show, fright night and more where students can show of thier talents. Bullying is a severe problem though. And I hope they try to improve the system .
been at this school for 2 years and about 4 months. i was bullied for half of year 7 and got beaten up nearer the end of yr7. i got bullied and jumped by the same person in yr8. in yr9 a different group of girls have decided to start bullying me and when i actually stood up for myself (had a fight) the teachers have penalised me. the teachers will punish you (the victim) if you ever say anything back to the bullies, or even from just give them a dirty look. they care more about jewellery and trainers then your education. they pick and choose who they want to give a punishment to.
Terrible school for mental health, physically could not bring my self to go in everyday without being physically sick due to stress, not a good environment. When I would freek out in class becasue there was to much going on around me I would be given a detention as if my “autism” is MY fault. There is no adaptation in their approach to teaching, was getting grade u’s and 1s until lockdown when they listened to what I needed and went up to 7s and 8s. Cahms was no help either, when confronted with my mental health issues I was belittled and said they weren’t real and told my pairents it would be okay to continue self harm and then proceeded to tell me where NOT to do it for safety reasons, as if they wouldn’t think they were then telling me places that I would now know are efficient etc and then do.
Over all glad I left, was the only one of two who didn’t stay for 6th form, and all the ones I’m still in touch are regretting not leaving.
When I was 12 my mam got told my miss Oliver to give me vodka and nightol
Mental health senco told me the only reason I was abused online is bc I'm autistic
Teacher have no respect
I was forced to sit in my own period blood for a lesson
Bullying was never sorted but encouraged
Got told by my head of year that my mam sound give ke vodka and nightol to make me sleep ,I was 12
Had a meeting with the health senco n was told thr inky reason inwas abused online was bc I'm autistic
Bullying never got sorted and was encouraged
Teachers don't listen
Dropped out in year 8
I joined the school not too long ago and honestly regret it everyone ws so rude both teachers and students and i already had things being spread about me the first day. None of the teachers take you seriously or think anything good about you which caused my grades to drop from about 8 and 9 to barely passing
This school and the teachers are so obsessed with detentions and your academic status, not pastoral. The teachers say that they will help us if we are feeling down but it’s bull crap, a lot of them make you feel even worse telling you they hate you. Food is very unhealthy and greasy, no vegan options either. Toilets are horrible, period blood, piss and poo are all over the toilet seats… cleaners don’t even attempt to clean in there!
I have been at this school for many years however it has only felt like one long ride in hell and it is so boring and painful. Im honestly surprised I haven't gotten food poisoning yet with the amount of mould I see on the food
Issues rarely resolved with teachers/ year offices. Lots of bullying and not much help with that.
Sixth form students forced to do 10 hours help around the school for 'enrichment' but the ten hours HAVE to benefit the school, meaning that it's essentially just free help for the school.
For the secondary school part it was OK just lack of pastoral support and doesn't help with bulling and sides with bullies/ bad kids often.
Rewards for kids who don't ever turn up/ the 'bad' kids for doing bare minimum, yet many of the good students who do their work and are nice and good work ethic receive little recognition.
Diner/canteen food not the worst, prices were 1.25 for curly fries, £1 for brownie etc. some sandwiches in sixth form diner have had mould in previously, however the fresh food is usually good. Pizza and fries greasy, not many healthy options, the wedgies are usually green in places and unpleasant. Would recommend to take packed lunch if you can. Not many vegan/ vegetarian options unless you want a salad every single day.
Staff usually friendly and helpful, media/English departments are lovely and supportive and math.
For secondary school students in stellar (top classes) you do get forced to do a language for GCSE and geo or history (can talk to Mr Friday about it to change if you really don't want to). Also, year 7-9 stellar students do French and German, so they do less french lessons than the other classes as they do German too, so when picking for gcse will be behind for a language compared to those who have previously done more lessons, which is especially a pain when they are heavily influenced to do a language for gcse.
With cvvid, had many live lessons with support so wasn't very bad for that, however some teachers would set too much work to do and would give little support for the tasks (not clear, ntt responding to questions etc).
Mixed opinions on the school, was good academically but pastoral care lacking which they ironically pride themselves on.
absolutely aweful with the pandemic. 0 social distancing and teachers don’t social distance. hand sanitiser is provided but i saw mould in one last week. in general not hygienic.
