We are extremely disappointed upset and disgusted with our experience involving RAINBOW SMILES NURSERY in Weston-super-Mare.
We were Notified by the police that there had been an allegation that our child was sexually assaulted by a member of staff in the toilets whilst at the nursery. This had been reported by another member of staff working at the nursery. The alleged individual was suspended from the nursery immediately and an investigation took place. This resulted in the nursery having their license suspended and they were closed down.
We as parents didn’t get notified of this until 17 days after the alleged incident had taken place. Meaning we continued taking our child to this nursery completely unaware this alleged incident had taken place.
We were informed by the police, not the nursery, who we had trusted to care for our child.
During this Ongoing investigation with the police and OFSTED there were further red flags raised and drawn to attention aside from the alleged incident itself. These included- record-keeping and staff training.
We feel the nursery have massively played this down and havent been 100% truthful with parents.
The nursery was shut down due to this alleged incident, as stated in the ofsted report- ‘A SIGNIFICANT EVENT WHERE CHILDREN WERE BELIEVED TO BE AT RISK OF HARM’. The other issues were flagged as a result of this investigation and not the reason they initially had their licence suspended as their communications to parents suggest.
Also Back in October 2020 a child managed to get out and leave the premises on their own which was reported to OFSTED, but yet again as a nursery they failed to let parents know of this matter.
The lack of Communication and sympathy we have received from this nursery is appalling.
We feel every parent that takes their child to Rainbow Smiles have a right to know what is going on behind closed doors so they can make their own decision as to whether they feel that their child is in a safe environment.
