Poor behaviour in class is now tolerated and becoming the norm, and bullying is tolerated, while going through the motions of being anti bullying. Became very PC - they now proudly display their certificates from Stonewall on the reception on entry. Education would be good or excellent if they could control the poor behaviour which has become endemic.
The problem is not the teachers, some of whom are great in my experience, but they seem just not supported by the most senior staff, who are more concerned about being anti this and that, than they are about the day to day discipline. Don't expect to see the most senior staff very often, and if you do, don't expect him to say hello to you.
Things got worse in my time here.
Alright Education but very stress inducing and terrible at handling bullying and certain ‘unpleasant’ individuals are hardly punished, yet others being punished Worse for minor incidences which sometimes aren’t even their fault. The music and art department are good and the tech, RE, and maths teachers are very nice on the most part with one exception. High expectations and increasing amounts of homework are also very unpleasant.
I think this school definitely prioritises grades over everything else. If you’re not sporty or particularly good at maths then you may struggle with some of the teachers. However, because of how small the school is, it’s super easy to get to know everyone in your year group and throughout the school. Similarly, it’s easy to talk with the teachers about any issue with school… at least some of the teachers.
A very friendly and inclusive environment, lots of extracurricular activities and clubs, and a lovely diversity of subjects. Teachers all make learning fun, and create immersive experiences. Canteen is amazing, and all food is great.
Always brilliant at ensuring students get extra support in subjects they need help for but not so great at looking after students mental wellbeing. Most teachers are lovely but there are a few blatant exceptions that don’t seem to understand how to talk to pupils
