If you hate your children this is the school for you
Boy do I wish I found this page back in January last year! This school is honestly an awful establishment. My son has been threatened with being stabbed and he has been accosted in the playground by groups. When he has defended himself he has been thrown to other schools to deal with. I have tried to resolve the bullying issue, but the school’s response has been to harshly punish my son for even the most ridiculous of reasons including not finding his glue stick fast enough while doing nothing about the children that attacked my child first. Instead of resolving their obviously toxic and broken culture, they have opted to make it impossible to attend work at all forcing me to find alternative arrangements for my son’s schooling. Although, my grammar could use work my math and science knowledge is quite advanced so homeschooling is not off the table. If you like your child at all I would encourage you to find an alternative school because this one is far worse than the school that preceded it. Many locals remember Langley high school, this one is far worse they don’t even try to hide the off rolling. However, they do have great after school activities where you child might not get stabbed or beaten up… maybe.
Absolutely appauling school. Head teacher is obsessed with being 'top of the pyramid', and cares more about how the school looks than the students that attend it. Attendance overall is good, but only because the Attendance team Harrass students - they won't accept any reason for being away from school except if hospital trip is needed or they have the corona virus, they show up to student's houses to make sure that they can't be in school and often forced students to go into school, despite being sick, even if it put other students at risk. Mental health is totally ignored unless the student is mentally challenged in a visible way. The PE team Is the worst for ignoring mental health, will often yell at students and force them to do things, only can a doctors note get them out of the class. Staff often run their classrooms on fear, cold calling is the main form of 'helping students learn', and shaming them or yelling at them if they get a question wrong instead of being understanding and helping the student. Students aren't allowed to use the bathroom when eating lunch or in class unless they cry or have a 'toilet pass' which have to be redone every year, sometimes less, leaving some students without one when they need one, which has resulted in students having accidents in the past. Students made to stand outside no matter what, even in the cold, not allowed to have hoods up despite crowds of birds around, and once stood in line to go inside can wait for around 5 minutes each time and is not allowed to move, it was common for students to be defacated on, this often led to the bullying of that student. Students often bullies, aggressive and even more commonly racist and sexist, yet this is taken less seriously than a student have the wrong coloured hair tie. Many serious fights have taken place, yet in my 5 years there, I only ever knew one student who got expelled for wiping food on other students, i am not sure about other year groups, but in mine this was certainly the case. The food was absolutely disgusting, the amount of times I and others found rotten or undercooked food and hairs in those tiny boxes they gave us was atrocious, me and multiple others students chose to starve all day instead of eating the repulsive chunky slop that they called food. A few meals were okay, such as pizza, but that's extremely hard to mess up. There were a large group of staff that were miserable and unenthusiastic, which is understandable, but they took and anger out on students. Again this was only a selection of staff, there were a few that were lovely, and I miss a lot. No electronic devices allowed, which is fine, but the phones collected in the 'phone box' were collected by students, and in my tutor, the role to collect them was given to a horrible, racist, sexist, bully who often didn't even bother giving people their phones back, and whenever he was in right path (isolation), the role went to a nicer person, but he was extremely clumsy and often dropped the phones, luckily none ever broke. People dying their hair too red or in any way an unnatural colour, or even cutting their hair too short or odd was punished harsher than racism, sexism, bulling, fighting ect. I had a friend who was put in right path (isolation) for two weeks whilst their hair grew out, whilst a someone who was racist, and their racism resulted in a fight was only in right path (isolation) for one day. No sprays were allowed, and once taken off were never given back despite being told that they would be, lack of spray, especially after PE often led to bullying. Back onto the topic of PE, staff were rude and forced students to take part, even if they were sick or their uniform was too small and close to ripping (based on personal experience), I, myself, despite being an active person hated the sports that they made us do, most commonly rounders or cricket, had mental breakdowns almost every lesson because I was afraid of making a fool of myself, or just because I really didn't want to do it, yet the staff would just yell at me and tell me to take part, dismissing anything that I said. When the students who did like the sports given yelled at me or other students for not being good enough, the teachers would either ignore it or encourage them. Occasionally, another member of staff that was not apart of the PE team would cover and the lesson would improve vastly, in terms of support for students who, like me, did not like cricket or rounders. The idea of school uniform all being the same including coats and bags is understandable, it definitely made an impact on bullying, I just wish there was a summer uniform and winter uniform because it was always far too cold in the winter, even inside. Only drink allowed was water, which I don't really understand because staff were allowed any drink they wanted, but to be fair this rule wasn't often enforced so didn't make much of a difference. Even now, when I walk past this school to pick up my younger brother from school, the crowds of children, who ignore the fact that they are in public, or next to two primary schools is revolting. The students have no manners, they block the path and force people and young children to walk in the road. They also block the roads, making the traffic abysmal, the parents parking is just as bad, they block the road, block people's driveways. The students on these paths kick things around, fight each other, yell swears and racist/sexist things and the teachers do absolutely nothing except stand there and stare. They take random selfies or videos, often capturing children or passers by in the background, if you say excuse me or even attempt to walk through the crowds they yell at you or look at you as if you are dirt on their shoe. I have honestly never met such rude teenagers, even Oldbury and Bristnall aren't this bad, despite having a bad reputation, and the teachers, when it comes to controlling these students or teaching them manners are absolutely useless. Many students walk through the primary schools to get home, and they are still disruptive, rude, arrogant, i could go on. Honestly, I could type for days about how awful this school is, but I feel like I have written enough for one review, if I have one piece of advice that I could give anyone it would be to not send your children to this military camp.
Q3 is such a good school the staff are so nice and helpful and the school teaches you a lot of lessons. The kids that go there usually go far in life and succeed. The school is strict but discipline you in the best way possible to study hard. I really recommend the school a lot
What a terrible school. Double standards when it come to who's allowed to use the car park. They only let the white bloke use the car park who has no affiliation with the school. Even the one of the staff admitted this to me.
He was told to lock us asians in the gates. Knew it all along. On top of that they cant control the pupils when a member of public complains about them. Instead they are coached to lie and make false allegations to the police. Coached by a headmaster who is an ex police officer. Just to get me into trouble. Because I've posted his responce to my complaint. He even wants to punish the other school that my son goes to at stated in the letter by not letting them use the playing fields. What kind of human does that. Lol. I have threats made stating "Police are going to talk to me about my conduct towards the school kids and taking photos without their consent. Loooool. No police wont speak to me about that as it's in public and I can record what I see children or not. And I'm recording anti social behaviour along with identifying who they are. Victoria Taylor you are clueless and very unprofessional by making a threat for no reason at all. Plain and simple it should take you over a week to get to grips of your lying anti social teenage children. Thank god my son doesn't behave the way these kids do. Thank god my son is honest. Unlike the children that come here. Absolutely horrible school and standards have dropped significantly over the years especially since this ex pigpolice has taken over. Hides behind his desk. Your own staff told me things about how bad the school is. I live 1 mile away and wont never send my kids here. My son didnt want to go here either. His friends regret being at the school like many others. Also receptionist thi ks she can tell your kids to come into school when they have been vomiting. Bad news travels fast could be here for hours on things I know about this school.
This school is excessively strict. Some teachers do not provide any help at all in any situation and instantly blame certain people for incidents when they have no idea what had happened. The food is appalling and the vegetarian options are always unimaginably disgusting. The sanctions are too extreme and are given out more often then required. The teaching is not too bad whereas some students who are extremely intelligent are in the same class as those who need extra support meaning that some students are repeatedly learning the same thing over and over again whereas others are stuck in the same position and struggle to understand the lesson. The way that some teachers behave with students is not acceptable and complaining will not get you far at all as the teachers seem to do absolutely nothing when receiving complaints.
An awful school. The head teacher is an absolute dictator. His way or no way and he will not listen to reason. I absolutely wouldn’t send my children there.
This school is ran as a company, everyone should be respectful slant and clap appreciations. The headteachers ego takes control over children's rights .When saying a staff member is wrong and confronting them, when your in the right, they say that you are 'talking back' and therefore you get consequences like stage 4's.
This school depicts themself as the greatest school in sandwell and better than any other school in langley which is a lie its quite the opposite. They need to start making this school less strict and focus on the students than their own rules.
Listen. this is an amazing school for workwise and the non bullying policy and what they can to prevent this but there is still alot that happens inside of the school. Such as fighting. Sometimes the children get a bit rough in the playground but most of the time they dont stop/see anything happening. This could lead to bullying outside of the school. But on a whole this school is the best one. Better than oldbury Academy and Bristnall hall.
Terrible. Teachers speak to the children appallingly. Children not allowed phones in school but trust me if they were there would be enough evidence recorded for Ofsted to have serious concerns! Headteacher ex policeman who runs the school like he’s still working for the police!
Year 11’s constantly being threatened with being banned from the prom for the most minor of offences in the last week of their time at this school.
Behaviour problems not dealt with properly if your face fits it’s swept under the carpet. Problem with a group of boys using racist language last year which upset a large number of pupils but were allowed back into the academy and to the prom whereas children who were sitting in the park when a fight broke out between Bristnall Hall and Q3 were banned. These children were innocent bystanders but were penalised for sitting in a park that wasn’t even in school time!!
I worked here for a little bit and it's a very clique place. They only care if you are part of the senior management or if you're family.
Friends interview friends to make sure they get jobs. Staff get spoken down to all of the time as if they are the same as the children. They exclude children who don't fit into their vision. Children don't have a say at all, even if they are in the right. They don't give children time to explain. Children get bullied even though they say it doesn't happen because they push it under the carpet. They make the children do p.e in the freezing cold in the winter outside for 100 minutes
The head teacher is obsessive about how the school looks and doesn't think about the children as individuals.
It's interesting some reviewers claim that Q3 Langley is a good school; how can that be, when the standard of English written in these reviews is so poor? Maybe the students were concentrating too hard on obeying all the ridiculous rules (slanting, clapping an appreciation or maintaining silence etc.) to ask for help when they didn't understand their lessons?
My experience of Q3 Langley is from a teaching perspective so I will endeavour to put forward a sincere and candid opinion in order that you can make a judgement based on facts rather than emotions. Although not a teacher myself I have first-hand experience of the life of a teacher at the school. The staff here are under enormous pressure to maintain a draconian regime that is not conducive to developing young minds in a free society. Students behave because they dare not break the rules, not because they want to learn to be better people. The academy is run like a business, where image is everything and everything must fit the brand. Consequently, students' individuality, independence and creativity is stifled, causing many students to feel constrained and undervalued.
Don't be fooled by the glossy image, Q3 Langley is not a happy school, instead it is an overbearing establishment bent on sticking to the rules because its reputation is more important than its students' individual needs.

A school what you shouldn't really send your kids to go to
I left the school about last week dont get me wrong it was a good school i do have good grades but the school was very toxic i yust left like i couldnt be myself and all they seen to care about is coming to school they dont care about your problems all they care about is you coming to school. The head of the school always says his a good boss but is he? As much as the heads of years did made us feel like we cant be ourselves but i do feel bad for them as much i ues to hear mr lee goes mad at them for what yuat because the year 10s are a little early for break or they went the wrong way to go to the toilet like not every is their fault at the end of the day we are humans after all. I remember in year 9 or year 8 i got bullied and my mom came in crying her crys out and mr lee was watching my mom crying he didnt even say are you okay ? He was to busy on his phone he yust looked at us and went of i get it his probably a busy person but not even a are you okay or do you want help. And how they would kick someone out if they bully thats a lie because in lessons their are always a group of people bullying and laughing at a student and what did the teacher do nothing yust stand there and laughed. I cant even say i missed the school cus i yust left like i was being controlled and i left like i was in a toxic school and dont even get me started on of how students was at the bottom and teachers was at the top make that make sense then we are the ones making you money allover bad school!!!
They where okay in some ways but the school I do not regret saying I wasn’t going to miss it cause I generally don’t, they make us stand in single files in silence which teachers sometimes take advantage too give out detentions to students for no reason, even when they have special needs. I also believe that this school thinks too much of itself, believe it’s a non bullying school but I was bullied throughout most of it and they said I interperated it wrong and it was just name calling. I felt quieter offended when they said that as I was made felt small, felt judged. Just because I have a disability does not mean I don’t understand what the difference between bullying and name calling is. I also felt a lack of communication and support and felt as though they only cared about the money which really disappoints me because the school does have good sides to it, but makes students feel small with how strict some of the rules are
The most unsafe place to educate any ethnic minority child. No proper reporting systems, no CCTV when parents or police make requests even though they have cameras all over the place. Not properly trained or able to safeguard children or even draft a simple child safeguarding plan when most required. Definitely needs DBS reviewing/checks on staffs due to very high risk culture and staff misconducts. Excellent at ignoring policies hiding information and delaying due procedures.
Bad attitude from head teacher and and the caretaker. They had locked me and a couple of other parents in my kids go to the school next to it and to make life easier because I work all the time I use the Q3 car park have done for years never has anyone asked me not to. So I parked when the kids were off. Gates were open. They watched us park didn't say anything and locked us in. Of course I was fuming I needed to go to work there was another woman with a new born baby who was also Asian and white guy which they know very well from the letter it got. It got heated and escalated when the headteacher came out shouting at me when he should remain professional at all times. Schools professionalism went when they watched us parked and locked us in. I called the receptionist and said we have parked and been locked in. Her response was but there is no kids here. I know she knows because staff watched us park there from the windows. And doorway. Headmaster made comments about my appearance making it even more personal. I'm Asian they are all white other lady with the baby is also Asian. And they knew they white guys so seems a bit like a set up. I then wanted to make a formal complaint did it by email they asked for my details for the purpose of the complaint. Then sent me out a letter denying they did anything wrong gate's were open for maintenance vehicles which were still there at as this was 9am so why lock the gates? Also saying using my address to give to the police to do me for trespassing which isn't a crime. Yes I explained I do may thai so test me if u want since I have 4 blokes surrounded me in a circle. So I was alert and ready headmaster was shouting so I have as good as I got. They threatened me with police now I gave my name and address for the reason of the complaint. The person who investigated my complaint was the person involved.also said in the letter that he is reconsidered to letting the other school which my kids go to use the playing fields and the letter will also be sent to the school.
I like the school in many ways, however i’m extremely disappointed with how they deal with situations. The worse the situation, the little the consequence. The little the situation, the worse the consequence.
This school is very 50/50.I finished Q3 back in May 2021, I am now in college. If you don't care about your social high school experience and Purley want a good education. This is the place for you to go. I got good grades going to Q3 and I don't think I would have achieved the grades I did in another local school however Q3 has too many down sides for me to reccomend it everyone. It is an overly strict school. Don't get me wrong, in plenty of ways it's brilliant as it means no crap is taken in class and there's no lesson time wasted. However, it often feels like your trapped or can't be yourself or express yourself because you are going to somehow get in trouble for it. If you are an anxious person or struggle with high amounts of pressure don't go here because in lessons teachers put you on the spot very very often and with how strict the rules are etc, you will really struggle if your not overly confident.
About bullying. There is no way bullying will happen in class or in corridors around teachers, but there is definetly bullying/ incidents that happen when the teachers are not around. From my personal experience when the teachers found out I got bullied throughout the whole of year 7, they just moved the kid out my class and told him not to do it again. No further punishment. I have heard of other bullying incidents though where further punishments have taken place.
As I say, Q3 is good depending what you want out of it. If you Purley just care about getting the grades, it's your place to go. If you want a 'normal' high shcool experience where you will enjoy yourself, this isn't the school for you. Especially due to its lack of facilities.
It's a good school but not for my needs, they would push them aside and always back teachers instead of having faith in students and parents, selective teachers where so rude but some was generally nice, ** *** is nice to talk too but some of the rules and communication isnt the best
Year 9 student and I would say it’s quite an amazing school! Even though they are strict... and I would like them to rain it down with the rules, but the learning and the behaviour is outstanding compared to my primary school. Nice School
I’m currently a year 10 student and although I believe the school is great to send your children to achieve their best potential possible. There are a few little flaws the school is new and over time the headteacher may not be able to keep the standards as high as they are now. Only the first 2 years gets a breakfast the rest don’t and not all buildings and playgrounds are finished causing some to be in car parks.
I am currently a student as Q3 Academy Langley in year 11 and I believe this is the best school to send you child to it not only gives the child the best education needed but also prepares us for our future and how to adapt to changes when we’re an adult such as having a job and attending interviews. People may say Q3 is strict however this is due to them wanting us to achieve the best in life and follow our dreams.
This is a good school, but it has its flaws in places but this can be covered by the fact the school is still quite new and the buildings aren't done yet.
