No parent teacher confidentiality

Don’t email teachers if you’re expecting any confidentiality. They like to read them to children to make themselves feel powerful rather than respond to the adult that sent them.

Happy Days.....

I attended this school when it was Penwortham Priory High School and enjoyed every single moment of my time there. From the education I achieved, I then went on to gain a Degree and a Masters Degree, both of which I am hugely proud of. This school motivates you, endless possibilities are achievable and I'm so grateful I had the opportunity to be part of the community of the school, some of my friends attended neighbouring schools, but never seemed anywhere near as happy or settled as we were at Priory. Happy Days.

Nice atmosphere, mediocre teaching

Pretty mediocre teaching and rlly bad behaviour but overall pleasant experience. Definitely felt like mandatory RE and “learning for life” was useless as everything “taught” was obvious. Maths teachers and computer science were pretty chill didn’t make us do too much work (last month in comp sci we just played games, ate biscuits and drank hot chocolate) but English teachers weren’t very good.

Priory is a bad school

I know this is long but you’ve got to read about how terrible Priory really is.

I was bullied there and they barely did anything. It affected my mental health and I even went to see the school nurse I never saw her after about 2 sessions with her she or the school didn’t bother to check up. There was one time when a chair was pulled from me I reported it and I told the head of house at that time and after this person had done this they hadn’t been in the last week of school so the teacher couldn’t do anything right then and there but she said that she would make sure to catch it up. After we came back to school, nothing was done no punishment for this student and they got away with it while I had so much anxiety to even go to school because I knew if anything was to happen that nothing was going to be done about it. My parents wanted to speak to the headteacher but a teacher had said he’d pass a message onto him so they gave the teacher the message and they said that they would get him to give them a ring and we had no phone call or anything so once again nothing was sorted no meetings with my parents or anything they just let this slide and this along with other things have seriously affected my health. I’m constantly on edge scared that someone’s gonna say something to me or pull a chair from me again and if they ever had I feel I can’t say anything ever because no ones ever going to care about it and they are just going to let it slide once again.

When this had first started they tried to resolve it by having a meeting with the head of house, me and the pupils that had witnessed it starting and that had heard what this student was saying when I wasn’t there to defend myself. They must have thought that had helped but not linger later the chair was pulled and it was like they didn’t care.

The headteacher would always have unnecessary full school assemblies that would have everyone cramped next to each other and they would make us sit there for a while while all of us on the floor would be very cramped, claustrophobic and all the assemblies were about was the “priory standard” that would be mentioned loads of times through a 45 minute assembly which is talking about a new behaviour management they had put in place which was something they had already changed not long ago. None of their behaviour management systems worked teachers would even choose favourites and some of these were students that would misbehave a lot and they were given multiple chances but when someone that makes one mistake they go off on them.

The lead team of behaviour they would always let things slide, they even accused me of making something up when someone had witnessed this student throw their pen and look up a skirt and another student had witnessed this and told me. The person that did it happened to me a teachers favourite and once again nothing was happened. After this happened I felt silenced once again like I wasn’t believed and that because the student was a favourite they could get away with that. I told the teacher that was in the classroom and she was really helpful she asked me to write a statement and so I did but that was handed over the people in charge of behaviour and that’s when I was accused by her of lying about it when I had multiple witnesses.

This school has no discipline and no action there was a fight outside that happened and the teacher was standing at the door watching before he decided to WALK over and split it up the students had to pull them off of each other, it’s ridiculous.

The toilets are absolutely revolting they are so unhygienic mirrors are dirty, toilets also. There would be writing on the toilet doors where people would say horrible things about others they were there for so long when they new about it they only did something when a lot complained and I’m even surprised they did do something but the bathrooms are still disgusting.

There would even be times when teachers would pick on students purposely and make them feel stupid and would make students their favourites if they were smart. They had split the “dumb” (x band) and “smart” (y band) in to x and y. This made the students in the “bottom set” feel bad about themselves. They had changed this but they put them in mixed groups they thought that if “dumb” were with “smart” then their grades would improve and there would be better gcse results and so it would look better on the school but when they had mixed the classes the students that were once in x would have anxiety about answering questions in front of all the y students it was still in the students minds split between x and y.

The attendance teacher came over to our house without warning, no phone call and she was extremely rude my brother had been off with a condition that they knew about, they knew what it was but she still came over with one foot in the door and she was questioning my brother like he was lying and just staying off for the fun of it (my parents were working at the time) I came home to her at the door half way in the house. She should have never come to the house like that my mum complained but nothing had happened as expected because at priory nothing ever happens.

The school had put in place an attendance alert if your parents hadn’t called the school if you were unwell for example in time by lunch time they would give you detentions for being late to school which i think is unacceptable especially if you can’t help it. Some Teachers would make sure they get involved in your personal business when they had no right to be.

Overall, I think that Priory isn’t a great school I wouldn’t recommend it to my worst enemy they don’t bother to sort bullying, they don’t bother to check the school nurse and ask if she is willing to see you, they have favourite pupils, they are rude and they only really care about how the school LOOKS to others like Ofsted. They would even ask us to lie to Ofsted if they would interview some pupils about the school they’d ask us to tell them how great the school was. A student even said the the teacher “so your asking us to lie”.

Better than any other school in the area

Penwortham priory academy is not prefect, but is any school?
My main problem with the school was the teachers and the fact that at some point every year they would change the behaviour punishments or new home work palnners. So a whole school assembly would be made we would all sit there some times for multiple hours and they would say like you have to do this and that so being in year 7 it’s alright you do everything they say but then you get like halfway through the school and it has already been changed 5 times so your like I know what I need to do but I’m not gonna do it cus next week they’ll change it then by year 11 you can’t keep track of what your suppose to do. 😂I rember the one that failed the most what stickers or somthing it failed cus nobody cared. Whole school assembly’s would give me so much anxiety ( idk why) sitting on the floor or in year 11 on chairs that felt like they where gonna callspe especially with people kicking them behind you. And every time it was like what was the point in that.

They split the every year into two parts clever and not so if you were in the not clever bit they didn’t care and you where basically labels and numb.
Then they changed that 😂to they had like 2 clever classes and the rest was mixed that really didn’t work cus everyone was working at different speeds and this is all in year 11 when I was trying to concentrate on learning not what class I’m I gonna be in this week.
I struggle with English they only picked up on this when I went into year 10 but they did get me extra time which I rather they just helped me with my English. There are some good teachers but most of the time they are given the clever classes when I think they could help the less clever ones a lot more. My year 11 teacher was awful I whent to every after school intervention and felt like I wasn’t getting anywhere but with moving forms 5 times in a year it’s confusing who I was suppose to go to as no body seemed to care about anything.

As I mentioned before one of the schemes they whent through was moving forms about I loved my form tutor but she decided to leave when I was in year 10 (far engough) but then I moved about a lot and nothing was clear all I wanted was somewhere to sit and chill or revise when I got to year 11 but no one of there schemes was character and culture in the last year, it was such a waste of time nobody liked it nowbody learnt anything from it and she would ask well what do you wanna do and we were like revise and homework and she was like no you can’t do that. I think character and culture is good for younger years but need a lot of tweaking for older ones.

The good teachers treat eveyone equally and where good at teaching but most treat the naughtier kids like there best friends then whent hard on everyone else for forgetting a pen or somthing.

But at the end of the day I think evey school is like that and for the area it’s the best one there. PE was good and sports day. The end of year trip was good and one of there schemes was to have a smaller trip and the end of evey term. I never thought that was gonna work We only got one to Trafford and it was more hassle than it was worth.

The facility are also 10x better than any other school in the area it doesn’t smell like girls high. I also think it’s good and right for teenagers / eveyone to mix with the opposite gender I don’t get how all boys / girl schools are still a thing quite old fashioned for this day and age.

Oh yeah last but not least they say it’s an open school policy and it’s really not walk about the school and you’ll be told to move every to secound sit in Canteen you get told to me when you are done auditorio or dining room no space cus it’s full of scream year 7s runing about.
