I don't believe as a parent 11 years old should be traveling to north lodge on public transport,I also highly disagree children coming out on the front street at lunch time ,this must stop
Some teachers have a lack of care when it comes to students expressing there problems, teachers get turned into the victim when students are telling them the problems with the school and things they could improve on. The mental health care is horrendous. Teacher councilors questioning students if they're telling the truth, having bad mental health is seen as an excuse to them unless it's a doctors note or appointment. Pressuring parents when a student have bad mental health to get them into school. There barely any support. There needs to be more communication rather than what suits the teacher and not the student, it's suffocating. There's lack of empathy, teacher brushing off serious statements from students. Student confidentiality is not kept. Do not take bullying, homophobia and transphobia seriously no detentions are set they think talking always works. The menu consists of basically the same thing everyday.
I have very little good to say about this school. They have no sympathy for students with mental health problems, don’t keep confidential things confidential. Lack teamwork which has a major effect on students (every teacher says a different thing and follows different procedures.) There’s a very inconsistent approach to time out cards, which leaves students not knowing where to go or what to do. They’re very patronising towards people with mental illnesses/ learning disabilities speak to them in a very condescending tone. and could be a lot more diplomatic when handling bullying/friendship related issues between students. There is little to no choice of food regarding vegans/vegetarians. Unfortunately by speaking to current students all of this is still ongoing. However, they do have good sports facilities including trampolines, basket ball hoops, gym equipment ect. and have a range of sports clubs. they also have a nice library with a range of books and computers for students to use in between lessons.
Teachers really care about students, teaching quality is excellent (especially the head of the Business department, she goes above and beyond). Best school in the local area by far. My only complaint is that mental health facilities could be improved but other than that I’ve really enjoyed my time at Park View. (The comment about so-called “lefty teachers” posted by another student is incorrect, in my experience the teachers show no political bias).
I had to leave the school eventually after constant bullying which was reported on multiple occasions but nothing was ever done. My mental health was so bad because of this school that I had to access mental health support services. Not to mention the horrendous teaching and lack of educational support
I have been in the school for two years and I think the teachers in all departments are the best in producing high quality lessons. I would highly recommend this school.
