After five years at the school I have gathered a vast array of knowledge about paget. There are many words to describe paget, like inviting, cultural, including, “boisterous”, fun, enlightening, depressing.
It all depends on the day you have had. From arguments, debates relating to politics and current world problems, fights, lobbing food across the canteen, calling teachers “despicable me” characters, roofing footballs, joking about the schools Lidl on quality Lidl on price, finding health and safety risks, exploding water bottles, bringing bags of paper aeroplanes into school to have a massive aeroplane fights.
Or being treated like your in nazi Germany, having your basic human rights taken off you( having to sit in a boiling hot room with 100+ students and only 10 can sit outside), teachers that make you feel uncomfortable(this is only a few(tend to be poorly picked supply teachers ( “you are deceiving yourself”)) .
Paget is not all like this there are a handful of teachers that really care about you and how you do in school, they will do what ever it takes to help you, these teachers are the ones who go through past papers with you, help plan revision, making projectile rockets for science week, doing crazy experiments on induction evening or giving you great life advice in general, no matter what they will help you which is always what you need.
Lessons are planned well and most of the time are interesting especially in KS3, the farm is great, lots of extra curricular activities (before covid).
Paget has dealt with covid overall quite well. Having a solid risk assessment with plenty of pre cautious put in effect like a one way system ( it takes 10-15 minutes to get around the school).
The stigma that paget is a bad school is wrong, it is old and does not reflect what paget is now, yes it has pockets of “boisterous behaviour” but what school doesn’t.
Overall is a great school definitely send your child here.
