My experience here was despicable, They could not control the school and they have a major lack of communication, for example, students are not happy due to the fact they are getting detention or isolation for 'skipping classes' when we have a valid reason like they were at thrive. They say 'I'll take it off for you' but they don't. ODA also doesn't listen to its young students. The teaching is poor, they spend more time moaning about students and kicking them out during lessons than they do teaching. I thought this was a school, but I was wrong. The Year 9 Team, Ms. Turpin she's average but Ms. Sheriff, did not listen and she had the type of attitude 'I'm better than you because I have lived for longer.'
They don't care about your mental health AT ALL!!!! They also say you're allowed to go toilet in between lessons....can we though without Ms. Sherriff unlocking your cubicle door. Or without Ms. Read guarding the doors this also happens during break time, there is also a lack of toilets there is one set of KS3 toilets both girls and boys both 11 cubicles, in the KS4 toilets they are also 11 in each. 15-minute break and 40 min lunch which is nowhere near enough time to line up for the cafeteria or find a seat to eat, eat it all, go toilet, do your homework and socialize.
This school is very challenging, my child has mental health and they have done nothing to help, to the point when my child was struggling to go in, i had meeting with the attendance lady and she was not interested so she finned us, i ask her why was my child was not getting help with her metal health and she said in very sarcastic manner the school counsellor is busy and cant see everyone.
I found it very poor, school does not help with students with mental health, or with bullies, and during the covid, the attendance lady refuse’ to send students home more interested in getting attendance figures up
Really good school. Teachers are amazing and really supportive. I am year 10 there and have gone through a lot whilst at school but the teachers have helped me get through the last 4 years.
Amazing outdoor area (biggest school delis in Suffolk with it being 7 and 1/2 football pitches, an Astro turf 2 tennis courts and a netball court). Definitely is a good school if you like sport.
All subjects are amazing maths, pe and English are the once they are really competitive in.
ofstead says it a bad school but it is actually a very good school. They have had the highest GCSEs rating 2017-2020 then ever recorded by that school. All around amazing school
There is a lot of bullying here, and the headteacher changes regularly. The teachers are dedicated to their jobs however, which I appreciate. I would not recommend it however, as there are better schools in the area who will support students a lot better.
