Other then kids getting bullied for their ethnicities, sexualitys, gender etc the education here is ok because teachers give out ipads too help with learning, but most supply teachers don't do anything about the work n js let u do what u want. Only good teachers are Miss Oliver and Miss Horsfall because they help with your mental health/stuff ur struggling with unlike the other teachers. Teachers don't let u go to the toilets when u need to sometimes they don't let u go even when ur on ur period. U get pushed around in corridors bc they're too small to fit alot of ppl, and everyone's always pushing and running. U don't get to go outside other then at break for like 15 minutes and for PE. Food is really bad there's barely and options for us vegans and vegetarians. They lie about food being quorn but u can tell its not from the texture and taste + smell. They will literally lock the gates and office door so u can't get out of school when u have correction, even if u need to go home bc of something important they don't care they js say u have to go correction, sometimes they say they'll ring ur parents n make sure it's true but most of the time they don't. Plus I used to have a friend who would get bullied for having mental health issues, people spread stuff about her that was js disgusting and not true just because of her mental health issues, and another friend of mine got bullied for having a panic attack and what do the teachers do??? Nothing. Smh
Almost every student here is racist and homophobic, teachers don't educate them on lgbt+, students will literally bully u js cause u don't fit their standards and teachers barely do anything about bullying. Teachers scream at you for dumb things like shoes, gum n not having ur shirt tucked in, the only nice and supportive teachers here are Miss Oliver and Miss Horsfall. Corridors aren't big enough so people get pushed around aswell
Extremely concerning as there has been racism and staff not safe guarding students. Hijabi girls getting their hijabs pulled off and headteacher claiming that it is not hate crime, however its been taken further but every turn the head teacher tries to cut it off as he wants to hide the truth.
A friend had a mental break down and staff didn't do anything about it instead a teacher called their parents saying that they had to come to calm the student down so they can return to lesson and no support was given.
Hijab must be respected. Unacceptable how a single person managed to pull off 3 hijabs within a spaces of a few months and they are still in school.
This won’t be tolerated, put a policy for hate crimes in school and stop supporting others over the Muslims
So far, I am in Y10 of Oasis Academy Don Valley. There are many highs about the school; one being that the school gives all their students iPads. Yes, it sounds unrealistic, but all the students throughout primary and secondary which we can use inside and outside of school. The school also likes to praise students every week in an assembly called Pride Assembly. During this, teachers choose which student stood out to them during the week and/or demonstrated the school values with pride and enthusiasm.
However, the school isn’t really big and the corridors tend to get very crammed with students moving around all the time, especially in the secondary phase.
