Great school

The school has improved beyond recognition when Mr Cowley joined in April 2020 as the new HT. He and his SLT have not left a stone unturned in driving behaviour, attendance and positive outcomes at Oak Wood. School is a much calmer, safer and happier environment and pupils thrive to achieve great results and are appreciated by teachers.

Lack of trust

But the real issue I have with it is the lack of trust to students, especially the year 11 and sixth form. The sixth form students are basically just year 11s in suits. Same rules, timetables and in school at 8:30 everyday and no more going out of school for lunch break. Not even allowed outside during free periods. I would go to swakleys sixth form if you have the chance rather than being a year 11 for two more years.
