I have found since my start in 2017 that this school is excellent for the academics - the teachers work extremely hard with students to achieve the grades they deserve. However, as this schools aim purely revolves around the idea of academic success, I have found that there isn’t a balance between work and the social factor of school. As secondary is a time where you learn about yourself during your teen years, you will find yourself wanting to be more sociable. However unlike other schools, Northwood puts a harder workload onto the students in order to achieve the grades. I am happy that the teachers in particular take some of their free time to help the students however when you see that other schools do not have sixth period as compulsory in year 11, as well with the pressure of Saturday intervention, you begin to see that the factor of these years being the time where you learn more about yourself, is disregarded. On the whole, if you are a hard worker and are dedicated to your studies I would recommend Northwood as a secondary school. On the other hand, if you are a person who likes the balance between work and spending time for yourself, then Northwood may not be for you. I wouldn’t want to deter you from the school as I am pleased with the progress I have made since starting, however those are a few things to take into consideration when choosing your next steps in your education.
I have been at the school for 7 years, it's absolutely amazing. The staff are very engaged and make sure every child feels welcome. Behaviour and uniform are always kept up to scratch, and online work in lockdown was very involved.
