My grandchildren go to NK Academy generally they are happy there, but as highlighted by the most recent Ofsted, behaviour needs addressing in the school, one of my grandchildren in year 7 has been punched twice since he started there in September, I have no doubt it will happen again in the future as the behaviour systems in the school seem very inadequate and end up taking a place at another school.
mr prime always tells student that they are dumb or stupid and he always screams at students for no reason he has to get a grib because we children do not deservd it
my point of view on NK academy as a year 11 student
year 11 student here, started in year 7, day 1.
this school is terrible, the staff are terrible apart from teachers such as mr slater, mr riley, mr peck, miss evans, miss sidney and mr fell.
the food is terrible, the dinner ladies are terrible and treat you like utter shit if they
mishear you and try and stand up for yourself.
there’s no privacy in either changing rooms or toilets, teachers are allowed in changing rooms when you are CHANGING, and are allowed to force you out of the toilet, including that they lock the toilets between lessons and don’t unlock them, even if it’s emergency anymore, you need a toilet card.
the headteacher is atrocious, she’s picky, rude and pathetic, nevermind the vice headteacher , miss mcgrath, just as horrible, maybe even more so, thinking she’s allowed to make rude comments about people "jokingly", the same goes for some of the other teachers there. strike days are unorganised, pathetic and every student is treat like shit too.
we’re not allowed inside even if it’s cold and we’re kicked out while teachers get to stand inside and then complain when we say we’re cold? terrible school 0/10. place made me want to kill myself.
The head teacher at nk is absolutely awful, she has zero empathy and understanding for other people feelings and is strict on the most ridiculous things, science and maths are a joke i’ve not learnt one thing, the english department however is very good and it’s one of the only things i enjoy about nk. Miss tunnicliffe get a grip and focus on issues that’s actually matter to our wellbeing instead of our trousers.
North Kesteven academy is horrendous. I have spent 5 years at this school and currently they are more focused on the length of our trousers then year 11’s upcoming exams. 70 students from year 11 alone where sent to the isolation room all over a pair of trousers. The head teacher then went through a young girls phone all because she was in the toilet for ‘too long’ after feeling unwell all day.
they care more about trousers, nails and lashes more than they do about my gcses. would not advice this school it's ridiculous. you get put in isolation for no reason ruining education
As a former student, I attended NK Sixth Form. In Sixth Form, we were all left to our own devices with no teacher support. Sixth Formers chilling around in the common room as though they were at a social club. As the Sixth Form block is a seperate building to the school, we were simply left to work and teach ourselves. No members if staff came into the Sixth Form block to check on students. Also, this school has the rudest pair of history teachers. I would not recommend NK Sixth Form to any anyone, nor would recommend the school for Year 6 pupils who are considering secondary school choices. It is true what Sir Robert Pattinson Academy teachers say about NK !
I had to be taken out of this school because of bullying and behaviour choices that I even though I made where damaging to my health. My teachers did not like me and did not support me.
I started NK a year and a bit ago, and honestly it’s a downgrade. Due to covid we are forced to eat outside for break and lunch, which isn’t ideal with bad weather coming. (There’s plenty of room to sit in the canteen but we’re just not allowed.) The toilets aren’t very sanitary and hardly any of them have working locks. Which I feel is an invasion of our right to privacy. Some of the teachers are great, but a few of them speak down to us like dogs. On my first day, 1 of the members of staff on the welcoming committee starting being extremely rude towards me about my uniform which already made me feel unsafe. (I hadn’t been told about uniform by the school) . My Mum said she felt awful the way that woman spoke to me and I think it’s disgusting.
I'm currently in Yr 11 I wouldn't recommend this school if you need maths as it's not properly taught I don't feel prepared in that area for my exams but the English department is strong and science is average the one thing I will say is the extra options u pick in Yr 9 for your gcses I've had a good experience in particularly in geo and his but I don't know if that's just because I'm good at them but in general the subjects you tend to pick seem to be good and the core subjects weak and any extra support u need don't expect it because they are awful the head teacher won't sort any issues in terms of bullying with your child and the support staff are awful apart from the odd few such as Mrs vidler if I could of chosen another school I would of please don't send your child hereunless u want them to have a poor education and mental wellbeing as problems won't be addressed and sorted and complaints will be brushed off
As schools go it wasn't any better or worse than can be expected. I mean we weren't taught maths properly for 4 years, and bullying was very common. But that's normal I guess. Handling of things like homophobia, and keeping students safe didn't seem like a priority. I mean they could have fixed their problem quite easily, but acted like the victim was the one who needed sorting out. Nevertheless, they were helpful in that department. Most of the teachers are decent, especially the English department. Their giving of emotional support is also good, but as for physical, it's more of a deal with it until the holiday kind of thing. It was just a normal experience. No different to how it would have played out in any other school, I suppose. The curriculum, at least, was mostly decent. I enjoyed most of my lessons and the content was at times challenging although mostly doable.
