Newtown high school is a suffering environment, they preach on mental health, etc. But they could not give a toss about it. The well-being team kicks students out. Roughly 6 hours a day of lessons and an hour break? And the teachers suggesting they should make it shorter. Students cannot share their opinions, Some Teachers make fun of those under 16s for no absolute reason. This school is some sort of joke and someone needs to sort it out because im not going to be in school which decides my future but it cant even be a proper working school. Half the time the water fountains don't work especially in the summer There are two in the whole school and expect it to be enough for what over 500 students? The teachers care more about your skirt not being knee-length than your actual academics. The year 7s of this year were pampered like babies having multiple school trips while the rest had barely more than two that weren't sport related. Teachers pick their favorites and the rest are forgotten. Girls get criticized for shorts that are 'too tight' but half the time it's an all-girls PE lesson. Male teachers and female teachers make people feel uncomfortable. Tehy only put in a lockdown system after what 4 locks downs but they cant tell us what it sounds or looks like. There are so many more things i could say, I do not reccoment this school.
This school is shocking i beg you never send your children there the mental health of all the children that go is extremely poor none of them are happy or even look alive they are like walking zombies the teachers all treat the student like something you would pick up off the bottom of your shoe the head teacher is never around to sort anything out pastoral support is extremely bad more likely to make you worse
Disgusting school , destroys children ! Breaches in confidentiality to students from staff, teachers mocking students if they have a disability or health issue. Lots of teachers create a class within a class , favouring the more intellectual students.
Good school. Bit non descript, teachers are ok, but it's the students who aren't very nice. This, however could be said about all schools. Teachers seem to be more bothered about the kind of shoes you wear and if you have your top button done up than anything else. The teaching isn't bad, but we should have longer breaks as the stress if school can get a lot. People leave a lot to go to llani though, but other than that it's okay.
The school runs John Beddoes school in Presteigne and it’s run horribly. There’s so many needless and unexplained rules such as not being allowed to go over the road for a coffee before lessons have started but at the same time not being allowed into the school before lessons start. The separation of year groups within the school is ridiculous because we all go on the same buses and sit next to each other. Some teachers are incompetent, such as one subject teacher who can’t even control a class and fails to get a class to do simple tasks because he can’t assert his authority over the class and people feel they can just muck about all lesson and get away with it, which they can. I am concerned that because this teacher can’t properly teach, a lot of people will fail this subject. Also, when I picked photography as a GCSE I wasn’t told anything about the course, wasn’t told what teacher I would have or what the course involves, and I’m at a disadvantage now after picking a subject that isn’t right for me. When teachers leave, we never get told anything about it, there’s been numerous occasions where teachers have mysteriously left without a trace, and we never get told anything. We were promised a trip every term when we were year 8, but we haven’t had one since the end of year 7. I’m year 11 now. The school also promised that we’d be able to buy things with points that we get given by teachers, but everything has been ‘out of stock’ since I started. When I asked a teacher about it, the teacher said that if we perform well in our classes they would restock it. That was two years ago.
