Possession

This school is good educational wise , i think some staff are brilliant but it’s not always the case for the behaviour department. Theres many young kids 13-15 that bring drugs into the school and use them during school. Some children even talk to the teachers about where they buy their vapes from and the teachers don’t give two. There’s also been a few times where teenagers are talking about possession of drugs in front of the teachers , and even if they hear it they don’t care. If the school is made aware about drug possession they genuinely don’t take any action. It’s highly problematic that they care more about attendance than drugs… it’s no wonder the Ofstead report is negative.

Teachers + Bullying.

This school is okay , the teachers are good educators. Although there are a few issues. Firstly , bullies get so many chances. There’s been so many experiences where a kid has been beaten up and the perpetrator gets no consequences other than a few days in isolation and when this repeatedly happens the school don’t really care. Children with awful behaviour get treated better than kids who actually learn and listen. I think overall the school is decent but the bullying and allowance of behaviour is shocking and unethical.

Poor communication and complaints handling

If I could give zero stars I would. Had a complaint regarding a teacher who did not treat our daughter with the respect she deserved. The complaint was handled poorly by the school and took months to receive an inadequate response and this only came after repeated chasing from us. Followed the correct process of complaint and when not satisfied with the response I went to chair of governors who did not read my complaint properly to start with and then came back and told me to go back to head of school for them to better understand my complaint. Except by now the complaint was about the head and how they had handled it. Our daughter is better off out of there. They were disorganised and when it came to college students the communication between departments and then to students was virtually nonexistent

NLC review from a former student.

I left this year, my time there was up and down. The “Anti-Bullying” system they claim to use isn’t used when needed. If a child is in need of help, the most they will probably get is a time out card and be sent back to class. I really struggled throughout Year 10 and ended up being told to stay off till i was better, however it just felt they didn’t want to deal with the situation themselves.

If your child is in need of support for a disability I wouldn’t recommend NLC at all, they do not have staff that are trained enough to handle children with additional needs.
They will simply stick them in The Hub (which they will make sound like a good idea to you at the time) and isolate the children in there from the rest of the other kids. They’re given simple tasks which are supposed to improve life skills, instead of focusing on education. Yes not ever child can or will be academic, but giving them the choice to be is better than nothing.

If your child needs no support and gets on academically, NLC is a good place to be. Some teachers are amazing, others not so much. I personally believe that the senior staff at the high school needs retraining and given advice on how to deal with children who are all different.

Should be shut down

A truly terrible school. Extremely ableist, refused to give me or fellow disabled students any accommodations. They do not care about their students. The atmosphere is intensely cruel and uncaring, and I wouldn't wish it on anyone.

RAcism, assaults, stealing food from student etc

This is a awful and very bossy and racist school. staff steal food from the student and eat it, . I lodged a complaint- nothing was done about the theft and the staff punished student because of discrimination. The parent was attacked from in site and was forced to go into a room and was frightened and left was it was dangerous because these people were angry for reporting theft, discrination about the staff. the staffs bullied, harassment and assaulted the student and parent. The staff said we use force in this school. They lie so much and make things up. Told the staff harrassing and assaulting me to stop harassing me his body against my chest and left the dangerous zone. I withdrew my child from the unsafe school immediately, no compromise. This is not a safe place for a grounded people. The staff started harassing and assaulting, and extremely angry to the student saying we do not care about your parent reporting theft and discrimination. That's true because of all their actions shows they do not care about people who are not the same colour as them and assaulting a minor emotionally is extreme and a no no. They is no moral standard to know when you are talking to a person have distance and do not use force and dont be aggressive if a person says no -that's there legal right. This shows high level of hatred, rascism and dont care what a minor has faced. They are very aggressive, hateful and angry.

Okay, but not the best

Most of the teachers I have are relatively nice, and do genuinely care about the pupils’ education. However, the same can’t be said for their mental health and well-being. They didn’t give a damn about my friend who has Tourette’s, and another who self harms. Also, the toilets are very unhygienic. But, overall, it’s relatively okay. And they also say they have no tolerance for bullying but yet all they do is give them isolation and expect that to be the end of it.

Double standards for teachers and student

The teachers don’t follow the one way system, they rarely social distance from students and they don’t follow the correct PPE requirements.
