Absolutely appalling school (if you can even call it that). Any social or emotional needs or issues you carry with you, expecting them to be remotely even addressed here, is like expecting england to win the world Cup. The student services are so beyond inept it's not even funny. I genuinely belive they hired the individuals from McDonald's. There are some okay teachers, but also some really unpleasant ones, but the standout has to be the ""student services"". Put it this way, I witnessed someone running towards student services who was clearly in a very distraught state, they had probably suffered a panic attack or sensory overload. I kid you not, they were told to "go back to your lesson and stop being silly". Absolute pathetic, I can't say anymore. Also the last headteacher got fired because it got found out he lied on his CV. Says it all.
My child recently completed their education at Neston High and I must say that our experience has been disheartening, to say the least. While the school does have some positive aspects, there are several concerning issues that need to be addressed urgently.
1. Persistent Bullying Problems: One of the most glaring issues at Neston High is its inability to effectively tackle bullying problems. Unfortunately, the issue of bullying persisted throughout my child's time at the school, from the beginning to the end. It is disheartening to see that the school has not made significant progress in this area.
2. Protection of Bullies under the Guise of Autism: What's even more concerning is the school's tendency to protect students who engage in bullying behaviour by attributing their actions to an autism diagnosis. This not only does a disservice to students with genuine autism but also perpetuates a culture of excusing harmful behaviour.
3. Questionable Diagnoses by Non-Professionals: The school's practice of teachers providing autism diagnoses is highly problematic. Educators are not medical professionals, and relying on their assessments can lead to misdiagnoses.
4. High Staff Turnover and Bullying of Teachers: Neston High suffers from a notably high staff turnover rate. Some teachers have even reported being bullied by students, with evidence of appearing on TikTok in particular. This not only affects the quality of education but must also the overall atmosphere within the school.
5. Focus on "Building Resilience" Over Tackling Bullying: Instead of addressing bullying issues head-on, the school seems more interested in promoting resilience among its students. While building resilience is undoubtedly important, it should not be a substitute for actively addressing and preventing bullying problems.
6. Lack of Classroom Control: Another concerning aspect is the apparent lack of control that many teachers have over their classrooms. This results in an environment where students who genuinely want to learn are unable to do so due to disruptions caused by their peers. Such an atmosphere hampers the educational experience for everyone involved.
In conclusion, our time at Neston High has been marked by a series of troubling issues, most notably the school's inability to effectively combat bullying and the questionable practices surrounding autism diagnoses. Additionally, the high staff turnover, student-led bullying of teachers, and the emphasis on resilience rather than addressing the root causes of bullying have further eroded our confidence in the school. It is my hope that Neston High (with the new head teacher) takes these concerns seriously and takes decisive action to create a safer and more inclusive environment for all students.
My child has gone from being a confident, high achieving girl in primary school to an unhappy, bullied, worthless, nervous wreck in the time she's been at Neston High School. Bad behaviour, fighting, drug use, racism and bullying is rife throughout the school. Despite having pastoral systems in place, the kids I know of aren't given decent support and they have zero confidence that anyone even cares about the issues. Staff turnover seems very high! The head teacher is quite frankly a joke. He lives in his office and refuses to see parents with concerns, yet he can find the time to get a bee in his bonnet about people picking up and dropping off kids on his precious top car park and has been stood angrily waving parents away from the entrance! It's laughable that he even blocked the disabled spaces in his rage. I can't quite believe that a man on his salary can get his priorities so wrong. There are some decent teachers at the school so it's incredibly sad that this is the state of play at Neston High School. The school used to have a truly excellent reputation, which is how we based our decision to send our child there. But that was then, that was a different headteacher, and the school no longer lives up to that reputation. We aren't alone in how we feel; there's a growing number of parents who feel the same. If the school gets slated on a certain local community Facebook group, a huge number of derogatory comments are made before the post is promptly removed. I must also add that this is an Academy; it's run like a business. All about the money and the bums on seats. Worth bearing in mind if you'd prefer a school with a good moral compass that's backed up by a decent head teacher.
Honestly having worked at many schools in the area I can say with confidence that Neston is a good school. Yes there are always going to be improvements but as far as I could see; staff were friendly and approachable, the students were mostly good, behaviour management was excellent and senior leadership show their faces so you feel at ease. Classes are bigger than in most other schools so if you have a child with additional needs they can get lost under the noise and needs of others. However the ALN team are amazing and support is available.
Honestly with the state of other schools in this area, Neston would be my first choice if I were to choose somewhere for my kids to learn. I know ultimately it is slim pickings in this area but Neston does alright.
It's sound ig. It's my school and I like it. The bullying problems are really and though. There is a girl in y8 who attacked everyone but they did nothing. There is a girl who headbutts people for taking to her. There are decent teachers but most ding rlly give a shit. Miss Barton is a top G as well as miss Stratford. Love them. Students are gimps but all teens are ig. Huge vaping problems with students
My son went there a couple of year ago now he has finished school anyway my son got bullied in y10 and the teachers didn’t do anything about it and we’re kind of mates with the bullies so they got away with it also he had his GCSEs going on at the same time and the school overforced him for his GCSEs and in a assembly the headteacher said to my sons year if you guys don’t pass your math and gcse s u will have a bad life what I thought was very unprofessional any the school is bad
Sons old school had to move him because he got bullied in y10 and he also found his GCSEs hard he said everybody got over pressured by the teachers and he said the teachers said to his year in a assembly if u don’t pass your maths and English in your GCSEs you will do bad in life ‘ what I thought was really unprofessional overall not a very good school
Don't go to this school, it is terrible and all the kids think there solid, I get yelled at by teachers for no utter reason and the building is shit, teachers that are fully aware of bullying do nothing and tell people to just"get on with it" or it's "ignore them" even though that won't do shit, the students are always being dick heads so probably around 90% of them the other 10% is a good group of kids, but the 90 percent think there amazing with big puffer coats on thinking there the shit, don't go there.
And the lessons are terrible, all you get is verbal abuse from teachers and students and the lessons are too easy, the teachers always go on about themselves and how they are to students that don't want to hear it and want to just get on with the work, don't go to this shit hole, you'll probably regret it👍
There is a student who has apparently been expelled due to his behaviour messaging individuals on social media encouraging them to kill themselves and calling them slurs.
It’s a but disappointing that no one from the school has made any effort to try and out a stop to it, I appreciate that he is no longer at the school and isn’t the schools responsibility- but being that he is targeting the schools students it should be.
The school has decent, modern facilities and a some good teachers but that's where my praise ends. Both of my children have suffered bullying at the school and I am aware of several parents who's children have suffered too. Generally the schools response and approach to bullying is appalling.
My son was bullied verbally for almost 12 months. The teachers knew, even other parents knew as it was so open. Eventually my son snapped and hit the bully. The bullying stopped but it was my son who was threatened with exclusion, there was no action against the bully.
My daughter and her friends were subject to sexual harassment and sexual assault by 1 pupil between the ages of 11 - 12. Again the school knew, again they did nothing. When my daughter reported it she was told 'just ignore it'. A 12 year old girl was told to 'just ignore' a boy touching her. The perpetrator was physically touching the girls, threatening rape and generally harassing them. When the girls stood up to him it was they who were threatened with action.
A friend had to remove her daughter from the school due to being bullied including cyber bullying encouraging her to kill herself. Again the school knew but it was victim who had to move schools.
My daughter is now being bullied verbally including cyber bullying. The school are aware, and have done nothing once again leaving us now looking for another school.
I would not recommend this school under any circumstances. The Head and Teachers can talk a good game but the reality is much different and their approach to bullying is to sweep it under the carpet and let the victims suffer.
Leaks, power outages, rude students and teachers. Was bullied constantly and no matter how many times I asked for help nothing was done to support me. Absolutely atrocious school. Lessons were boring and hard to understand since the teachers usually spent all lesson yelling at everyone. Please don't choose this as your high school. It's the worst place I've ever been to. Overall, only 2 of my teachers were supportive and nice. It's just not a risk worth taking.
Generally, the school has decent staff, with the exception of a number of senior staff who are utter twats. The school building is in a sorry state, leaks all the time and is generally falling apart because of mismanagement. The students are a good 90% dickheads and the school network infrastructure has near constant problems, be they from the good old neston it staff or the students. Teachers are generally nice bar a few bad eggs and generally if you perform poorly you'll get any help you need. Opportunity within and outside of school is just ok, nothing great nothing bad. Overall, meh.
I love my school all the teachers are great and food is outstanding I’m moving into year eight so i already know my way around 😌it’s a great school really recommend it
Got bullied for years, punished for defending myself in a fight that happened outside of school, looked down on by teachers because I was having a rough time at home that they knew of. Teachers have made me take my mock exams in 45 mins when the rest of the class had 1 hr 30 mins and the building is atrocious, leaks everywhere - electrical items WERE NOT ISOLATED we were punished for filming these issues to complain.
It’s a good school but the new building is really bad and leaks a lot. It also moves a bit when everyone moves lessons, basically it’s bad. The teachers are amazing though
