This school is poor at best. The ONLY good thing about this school is some of the staff ( autism champion, his teacher for the last two years, the classroom assistant that is so much more than that, and the SENCO I had for the last few months.) management at this school is unbelievably bad and the old SENCO that is now deputy head I found to be incompetent at what she did. I spent years keeping on at this for help, and kept getting swept under the carpet. I had been asking for an EHCP because he was so far behind all of the other students ( still on reception books, in juniors he can’t read or write and he is now going to secondary school!) the only time the school started doing anything is when my son was diagnosed with autism in year 5. Even then they dragged so much that the EHCP finally went in for the second time (because they had missed things they needed to do off of the first one) the week before they broke up from school, and they messed that up because they didn’t get me to sign it and then delayed things further. He had been diagnosed with autism for a whole year and they didn’t make a referral to the autism team. This cam to light when they had to have someone from county halls cognitive learning team assess my son. He seemed gobsmacked at the lack of haste to do anything throughout the years! I would go as far as saying this school ( management) have failed my sim, he could have gone up to secondary school on the right foot had things been in place earlier, and the school been quicker to deal with things from when I started asking in year one. His teacher, the classroom assistant and the autism champion are worth their weight in gold and if I could for them on their own I would have given 5 stars. But when leaving a grade for staff and teachers it should be separate and my grades below will reflect that I’m including management of the school in that.
