Don’t send your kids here

In my personal opinion, Moulton school and science college is a very bad school and you should not send your kids here. They do not care at all for their students well beings and would rather spend tons money on flashy items that keep up their schools ‘good reputation and image’ than spend money on the students to assist in their education. They also promote how they can deal with mental health and they will help you when times get tough and that you can always reach out to them if need be. This is a lie. Multiple of the staff members, especially the pastoral and safeguarding team will just tell you to get over yourself if you aren’t planning on harming yourself, or even if you are. Say for example; if you are having a panic attack during lesson time and a teacher sees you, they will punish you for being out of lesson, even if you have been marked in. And their punishment will be to send you to isolation where you will sit inside a room with multiple other students you don’t know, in silence. Inside that room, you have to be working none stop for 6 and a half hours. If you fail to do sufficient work you will automatically fail your day and will have to redo the whole process another day. Moulton also kicks people out for having bad mental health because they have said that they can’t handle them. This has happened to multiple of my friends and peers. The pastoral staff, any of the assistant head teachers, or even the head teacher herself will not help students with their learning. I will give you another example; one of my friends, who was kicked out of Moulton recently was attempting to be diagnosed with ASD/ADHD but the school would not comply and help her with her diagnosis. Her mother sent an email to the school requesting that they help her with this and they just left the email on opened without taking action to helping my friend with getting her diagnosis. I know they’re not doctors so they can’t diagnose her but it’s required that they at least take action and treat her as if she is someone with ASD/ADHD until she is diagnosed. But Moulton did absolutely nothing.

Moulton is incapable of suiting for students with mental health issues and or neurodivergence. In my personal experience, of Moulton there was evident signs that I was struggling mentally because I would cry every day, physically not be able to go to some of my lessons because of the students in there who bullied me, I took this up with the school and they did nothing about it every time. Every time I brought up the fact that I was struggling all they would do is tell me to get over myself. In my case, they should’ve launched an investigation to help me to ease back into those lessons or even send my to a certain place where i could do those lessons without the certain students that I was vary about going in because of.

My overall opinion about Moulton is that, they are unprofessional and do not care for their students at all. If your child needs any assistance with their learning or mental state don’t send them to Moulton as it damaging to their confidence, self esteem and mental health. Moulton has also said themselves that they are ‘low on funds’ so therefore it is highly possible that they will permanently exclude your child if they do anything bad that has been caused by their learning disability, mental health and or mental illness. The permanent exclusion will also be on their permanent records which will cause your child less of a chance to get into other schools or even go to college, Moulton does all of this just because they don’t have enough money to support their students. The pastoral team for every year is terrible, they do not help students, if the student needs help they will not assist them but instead they will shout at them for no reason at all.

Another thing I will be adding is their professionalism and maturity. The head teachers professionalism is low, if you forget your blazer or are wearing your coat in the lunch line you are denied access to food and or water. Which is borderline abuse. Now will 99% of the teachers, their maturity and professionalism is also low, if you come to them with a problem then they will not help. They will leave you to deal with it on your own as it is not ‘their problem’.

Other than that, the lessons and subjects they provide are okay. The students learn what is mandatory and the actual learning scene of the school is average, nothing special, it’s just like every other school.

The safety and security of the school is also poor, they will allow kids to have fights and not get punished for them and will allow kids who have drug problems into their school. For example; when I went to Moulton, not that long ago, there was this
kid in my year who was constantly under the influence of drugs, the school knew about it but just didn’t care and let him continue using whatever substances he was using.

Do not go to this school.

Moulton is incapable of suiting for students with mental health issues, and or a neurodivergence. In my personal experience of moulton, there was evident signs i was struggling and couldn’t physically go to lessons, all they did was tell me to get over myself. In my case they should’ve launched an investigation to try get me slowly back into lessons. Instead even though my CAHMS refferal said I should be tested for ASD/ADHD and my mother sent an email they ignored the email, still treating me like the normal neurotypical student; if anything worse. To the point where this isn’t just about my experience and it is an overall opinion, I would say if your child needs any assistance with their learning don’t send them to Moulton as it is damaging to their confidence/self-esteem and their mental health. Moulton has also said they are “low on funds”, therefore it is a highly possible chance they are permanently excluding students due to funds, which isn’t then fair for it to be on their record. The pastoral team for every year is shit. They do not try to help their students, the students just get yelled at for no reason. Another point i will be adding is their professionalism and their maturity. The head teachers professionalism is low, if you forget your blazer, or are wearing a coat in the canteen line you are then refused access to food and water. Now with all the teachers maturity it is also extremely low, if you come to them with a problem they will tell you to get over yourself and or make you cope with the fact of it yourself.

Has...issues!

Bullying is a massive issue here. Some teachers are aware its happening, but take no action against it. Racism is also a massive problem, they let people get away with issues such as that while suddenly being late to lesson and swearing is a bigger problem? School Canteen food is overpriced, £2.25 for a small wrap. You'll also find the quality and taste differs, quality control is not consistent. Toilets are run-down, and your only allowed to go to toilets in certain blocks at break and lunch. Some teachers have questionable teaching skills, and some outright treat students badly or are generally rude.

Disgusting behaviour

This school is horrid, The teachers do not care about any of the material and the science teachers I have had have not cared about the syllabus and just wanted to get to the end of the day without caring. In total, it's a horrendous school with foul teachers and most of the material being rancid. This is shameful. People should be ashamed of searching this school

Enjoying my time

Teachers and staff really care. Some students can be nasty but overall the school deals with these and students can be themselves here.

Some of the classrooms and toilets were/ are rundown but they have improved a lot since I started in Year 7 a few years ago.

Lots of stuff to do clubs, sports, music, school shows!

Awful school

Awful school, the school goes against their own safeguarding, I was bullied to suicide at this school and the safeguarding lead begged for my dad not to get police involved, isolation is abused and so are sanctions, students are treated awfully, teachers bully students etc school lunch is overpriced £1.25 for a small slice of dry pizza..

A Levels

Decent for the area

- Overall pretty decent considering the other schools in the postcode district.
- Good teachers that are willing to teach and care about their students, but main school behaviour could be better.

Not a great school

I’m a student at this school, it’s honestly not a good school at all, teachers and school leaders don’t really care about students and their feelings. The school preaches mental health but arguably causes mental health issues for students. Bullying is a massive problem in this school and they don’t even do anything about it. Teachers are very abusive and often bully children and instead of trying to make them feel like their problems are valid they don’t solve issues students have, instead it seems like they just want to brush it under the carpet and move on. Recently I had to get the police involved in an incident I had with the school and one of the School leaders tried to gaslight me and tried to make me feel like I was the problem and I shouldn’t have called the police and I left the school in tears. The school also has a big issue with racism and they regularly let students get away with being racist, especially to blame girls. Overall I just wouldn’t recommend this school because school is suppose to be a nice & safe environment where kids can feel supported especially through possibly the hardest time of their lives, the teen years.

Not a safe environment

As a school as a whole they don't follow their own behaviour policy. The school pick and choose who they want to teach. Support teachers have been known to bully and threaten students and keep them away from the classroom environment deliberately to prevent them getting any level of education. Children are not treated equally, it's not an inclusive environment. Isolation is used frequently for prolonged periods without any regard to the negative impact on the child, isolation is where no teaching takes place and often isolation is used without justification. Teachers have denied basic welfare needs of pupils multiple times. They breach their own Complaints procedure, do not investigate issues highlighted objectively and do not listen to the pupils. Children view certain teachers as unpredictable. Teachers have been known to exaggerate events through very harmful word play that could be used to criminalise a child to paint a misleading dim picture ie would swap a word such as poke for stab to justify escalation, and also been known to actively provoke children to react. It's an abusive environment. I know multiple parents who have pulled their child out of this school. Shocking! Children deserve best efforts and for adults to set an example. The children have even protested (all children stood together) collectively against the unfair treatment from certain teachers to certain students. The school swept it under the carpet and banned the children from going on the field for a prolonged period of time as a result and no communication went out to parents on the matter (several reports from the pupils though! ) When the children are showing the teachers how to treat them as humans, it's a very poor show. Tried on several occasions to work with the school and provide them with solutions, got lip service but no change for the better. Eventually pulled child out one of the best decisions I ever made. Don't send your child here until there's an over haul of staff at all levels.

I feel unsafe here

Its very intimidating at this school. A lot of students can pick on you and they do nothing but for something less-urgent they will deal with it right away, such as losing a pencil case.

The headteacher is LGBTQ+ phobic due to my friends personal experiences. Some teachers are extremely petty, loud and rude. I have been hurt by them sometimes. Most lessons are boring and hard to concentrate in.

Foodwise, there isnt much choice but not the worst selection. Being anorexic, i dont eat much anyway. But i get an icelolly, cookie or drink at lunch sometimes.

DO NOT SEND YOUR CHILD HERE.

It’s not that great of a school

It’s an okay school! They have behavioural issues and the school is very run down and destroyed. The students are nice but some staff are questionably mannered and aren’t very good at providing good education. School lunches are very expensive.

The school is just about ok. Some teachers can be supportive but mainly are only there for the salary. Very good special needs support though!
