I regret to say that sending my child to Michaela School has been one of the worst decisions of my life. While the school boasts an impressive Ofsted rating and high academic results, these achievements come at a significant cost to the mental health and well-being of its students.
The school's military-style behavior standards can be incredibly harsh and may leave lasting negative effects on a child's mental state. Rather than fostering individuality and personal growth, the environment often feels stifling, as if students are expected to conform to a rigid mold—encouraging them to become little more than 'robots' devoid of personality.
The head teacher promotes the idea of multiculturalism, but her understanding of it seems detached from reality. Despite her claims of diverse heritage, her approach often feels disingenuous, and it appears that she lacks genuine insight into the complexities of racial and cultural identities. This disconnect can lead to harmful misconceptions, such as the belief that minority students 'play the race card' to navigate challenges in life.
Moreover, many of the teachers come from middle-class backgrounds and appear to struggle with connecting to the diverse community of students they serve. I've noticed instances of microaggressive language used by staff, which can create a sense of alienation among students. The school's rigid social structure discourages friendships across different academic sets, perpetuating an unhealthy environment of division rather than inclusivity.
Most concerning of all is the culture of distrust that permeates the school. The prevailing belief seems to be that all children are dishonest, which undermines their ability to communicate openly and honestly. This lack of trust can be damaging, as it may discourage students from expressing themselves or seeking help when
Michaela Community School may excel in certain academic metrics, the detrimental impact on students' mental health and overall well-being cannot be overlooked. I urge parents to carefully consider whether the school's approach aligns with their values and their child's needs. A nurturing and supportive environment is essential for a child's development, and unfortunately, I believe Michaela falls short in this critical area.
I live in the wembley area very close to this school. This area is so diverse with a large muslim population. To think that students are being BARRED from praying is outrageous especially during a time where islamophobia and anti-muslim rhetoric is at an all-time high the students in this school must feel so alienated. In Islam prayer is an obligation, it is a sin to not pray 1 of the 5 daily prayers so the headteacher banning them from performing an obligatory act of worship is a form of bigotry and religious intolerance. Let the kids pray if they want to do so. Who are you to stand between them and worshipping God? Despicable. To think that this sort of school exists in what is quite a tolerant area of London is incredible. I’d like to remind the headteacher to see what shes done to these kids, and reflect on the religious persecution Jewish people faced in the lead up to the holocaust. No person should be denied their religious freedom and ability to practise their faith. I don’t care about your fantastical belief that every student should make sacrifices regarding race and religion to form a “calm environment/community” how will that inform their choices when they step into the real world? It’ll just make them intolerant towards others beliefs and practises. Why not teach them to learn about eachothers faiths and cultures to promote tolerance and harmony? You can deal with instances of intimidation and violence on a case-by-case basis as that is an individual issue. Has nothing to do with prayer, or religion. Hijab is also a CHOICE, if you’re concerned talk with the pupil. The headteacher just sounds like an islamophobic bigot. Stop trying to fearmonger, stop isolating your muslim students who are growing up in a world that is already hostile towards them. I don’t really care how well your school performs if its at the expense of the students well-beings and mental health. This sort of trauma will stay with them much longer than any of the ridiculously strict rules you impose on them.
Just came to light that a few years ago they put children in lunch isolation when a family could not pay for the lunch or they were late paying instead of supporting them. It's come to light as well they're racist and not inclusive at all. Stay away from this school. Way better options around.
This school was accused of a teacher mocking a student for her religious attire and instead of addressing the petition started to investigate this, they rounded up all the students who signed the petition and shouted at them. After that they lied to google to make them remove the bad reviews of islamophobia then pressured the student who started the petition to delete it.
Disgusting its impeccable that a student cannot even pray and isn't given the facilities to in this school!!!!! Nasty and vile never send your kids here!!!!!!
This school should be ashamed of themselves
what the teachers and Headteachers done and let the pupils pray.its not harming anyone its ramadan too a special month for muslims. This school nedds to shut down immediately. HOW is this school still running. Abslute disgusting. SHUT IT DOWN.need a pettion

Enrolled my children here thinking nothing much wrong and then came to find this school would be the center of my worries.
First of all. Children are forced to serve the teachers their food when eating
Then students clean it up themselves
There are no cleaners!! The students do it.
10 seconds allocated to get out books- my daughters got a 4 hour afterschool because they took an extra 5 seconds to get their books out!! Ridiculous
