As a current student at melior in Scunthorpe I have a really bad experience with this school I have been there about a year now and they don’t care for there students health or mental health at all, they also talk about students behind there backs to other students and do not stand to there policy about bullying I go into the office at-least 3 times a week about bullying and all they tell you to do is go back to your lesson and carry on as normal they do not listen to their students opinions or worry’s they are also very persuasive to the parents to get the parents on their sides instead of the students. They even give consequences out for no reason I had my coat and headphones in whilst walking out the door to go home and because I refused to give them my headphones they put me in isolation. Over all I don’t recommend sending your child to this mainstream school
The rating says it all!!! Terrible school…management, teachers, office staff all poor. Not many care about the students they just care about climbing the career ladder. My daughter went to this school and I would not recommend it to anyone….AVOID!!!
Total disappointment for me as a parent, it turned out that bullying has been eradicated, totally false, differences between immigrant and British children, racism, bullying, differences on the part of some teachers, children kept at -5° degrees, all six windows open. with regret I regret thechoice made, except for the Principal who is a special and fair man.I do not recommend
Previous student there and some of the teachers were good but the rest were awful. They screamed at someone with PTSD instead of telling them what they did wrong and made someone an hour and a half late to their therapy appointment. They also tried to get someone to go into the school while they were adjusting to new medications that had really bad side effects. Teachers talked about other students behind their back, nothing done about bullying and the ‘popular’ students were favourited. Either no or little support for anyone. Another student had their trauma compared to an amputee’s. I understand there’s a new principal now so hopefully it has improved however I still don’t recommend it.
If you complained about any bullying somehow it would end up being your fault for reporting it in the first place. The favourited students got to go on their phones or had banter with a teacher and were put in a class just to play board games while the students with anxiety and depression were refused the option to go to that classroom. It literally felt like a school made to favourite bullies. Ofsted may have given it a good report but they don’t see the ins and outs. It just felt like a prison.
Bullying was not dealt with, even if it was it had been weeks after said incident. And the only reason they hadnt done anything was because they "didnt want to make matters worse", surely when theres bullying, harrasment, physical bullying, then something should have been done right away. You could have some laughs with some teachers however nearly all the teachers has favorites and showed it especially towards the people who were bullying others and no consequences were done when it was reported. There was a certail biology teacher who everyone complains about where nothing is done apart from were told to deal with it. What kind of teacher talks about other students negativly to others when theyre absent in lessons and get away with it. That isnt a teacher style that is bullying and a break of confidentiality.
It's a brilliant school but they need to sort out the bullying situations!! Apart from that the staff are great and are easy to banta with and when you leave the school you'll remember all the great times and come to realisation that your best friend was the chemistry teacher 😂 but all in all I recommend this school it has the highest GCSES grades in the area and the staff don't slack they get everything done even un difficult circumstances they will always help you with your education or even be there for you when you need a chat. The teachers there are really supportive.
