Absolutely bad, staff aren't even helpful, they did you punishments for NOTHING, students are a horrible bunch and the canteen serves mayonnaise sandwiches, I am appalled, disgusted and shocked, only good thing there are the history teacher, they're the real ones fr
I suffered 5 excruciating years at Marple Hall School, during which I was mercilessly ridiculed by the pastoral team, refused the opportunity for a dyslexia assessment (I found out in my first year at college I in fact do have dyslexia and need various arrangements for my exams - this not only happened to me but various of my peers), we were also placed in direct risks during real lock-down events as the staff aren't trained to distinguish between the fire and lock-down sirens therefore we were panickedly rushed outside the building to the fire line up whilst a confirmed armed intruder was navigating the school's grounds. My parents didn't discover the details of this situation until I informed them when I got home at the end of the school day. My parents contacted the school in justified outrage as both their daughters had been secretly subjected to a terrible risk at school (a place we were deluded into thinking we'd be safe) and the headmaster's only response to this was to send transfer papers for myself and my sister to swap schools. I was in year 11 and nobody in the school received an apology for the distress. What I didn't learn until later was that it was the police who ordered the school to instill the lockdown as the safeguarding staff themselves were refusing to disrupt the school day and put our safety first. This was one of the worst situations of my personal experience at the school, however I'm not sure it compares to the experience of the two students who had a dispute at the school gate at the end of the school day - where one student was stabbed by the other who had been carrying a knife around all day inside the grounds.
To parents who are reading this review, please consider the fact that my stories are only a fraction of my own experience (I graduated the school in 2022 and have a younger sister who still attends the school and still tells me frequent horrific stories). If you are looking for a school for your child, Marple Hall School is a place where you will be provided with a moderate education, however your child's safety and well-being will never be as important to the staff as their personal goal to become the "best school" by 2025.
Forever giving out sanctions, detentions and strikes in stead of getting to bottom of the students struggles. I will be glad when my grandson has moved from here!
Marple hall is rubbish. They don't take mental heath seriously. They only put on a show of supporting LGBT students but when it comes down to slurs, teaching, educating students on aspects in this area they only base their facts from cis white men. The school is blatantly racist and disregards slurs and things unless you formally report them and even then they barely listen. The school used to be good and a safe place but since 2018/19 it has gone downhill. Some teachers are nice but others are completely horrible. I am a grade 8 and 9 student who went there and can't be more thankful to leave. The uniform policy is sexist and disregards Trans people. There is no individuality allowed. It's just a horrible environment to be in, especially mental health wise.
I was never a student who hated school and am not some moody teenager over exaggerating how it feels there. I am simply letting you know mine and many other people's experience.
Awful, teachers don’t care at all. Have been humiliated multiple times for getting things wrong in class and yelled at for misunderstanding questions and when I was asking for help with my mental health I was told I was fine. It’s literally disgusting, had the worst time of my life there
they pretend they care but they really don’t, I have had some of the worst experiences of my life in that place and I beg you, please don’t ever send your kids there.
