i wouldn’t recommend. the teachers spend the majority of the lessons trying to make the children who misbehave to behave. students with mental health issues are ignored, and have been told my teachers they are “not going to go anywhere in life”, aswell as being punished for things that have been a result of a mental breakdown. the teachers care more about small things like headphones, shirt untucked, blazer not on, a few minutes late to school/ lessons than they do about there teaching. the teaching is poor, in classrooms the teachers have noticeable favouritism compared to other students. the school is dirty inside and outside and students are only allowed in the canteen or restaurant when it gets cold and are told to leave any corridors when they are freezing. the way the school deals with bullying is poor, as the most they do is pull the bully and victim out of a lesson, tell them to stop and fill out an incident report and then they are left on there own which often results in the situation continuing. the activities in lessons such as there “word work wellness” scheme are poor, including the teaching that comes with it as the lesson does not teach you anything. the food is bearable, they offer a range of paninis, sausage rolls, cooked hot meals, cold pasta, sandwiches and hot pasta. however if you are in the back of the line you have to wait even longer as the food will run out quickly.
awful school, wish I never had to go. most teachers always assume ur doing something wrong and are often rude. even most the nice teachers will assume things about you and your situations without context. the people that run the school are more bothered by kids with dyed hair or kids who swear then anyones actual education- "education for all" apart from anyone who's different, gets bullied, struggles, or has enough intelligence to realise how stupid half the rules are. if ur any of those this school will give up on you soon enough.
if you say the bullying has stopped and the school are better at dealing with it, congrats on being the 2% of privileged students that things actually get better for. however the majority of us can clearly see from a miles away how that is false.
some teachers are okay, but the rest are genuinely awful. you'll get the teachers who just spend 30 minutes trying to get the class quiet instead of teaching the ones who care, the teachers who will just make fun of the children infront of the class, the teachers who are extremely harsh for no reason to kids who have done nothing wrong, ones who will ignore any student that doesn't choose to talk to them, ones that literally 90% of the school will agree deserves to be fired. how does anyone think this school is acceptable for kids to go- had some horrible times here and have been threatened many times, school obviously did nothing. luckily, ignoring these or just being confident was enough for me to get through it, but it's not the same for everyone. there have being many people who have been incredibly, negatively affected by this school, one of them even taking his own life- don't go here.
Unless you want your kids to come home crying everyday come to manor the students/pupils behaviour are ok the majority of people are ok but a majority of them are vile the staff are just as bad as the students once I walked into reception to here them making fun of my sister and then had ago at me for being off for 10 days when I had covid overall I don’t recommend coming here it’s not good.
Open evening October 6th was poor. Some of the teachers decided to go home early and shut up shop. Our daughter was in tears and doesn't wish to start there.
I have just finished year 11 and in the transition process going into year 12, meaning I did not experience the usual gcse process. However, Manor were so supportive and relieved vast amounts of stress for me when it came to assessment periods, leaving me in a position where I am content with how my assessments went and ambitious to receive my results on results day. I am aware that there used to be an issue when it came to dealing with bullying, however I believe that the process has been improved dramatically to a point where students are able to gain full support from pastoral care and mentors. I highly recommend this school.
The teachers barely care about the kids, the whole format of the classes is confusing. During covid they have done nothing except install hand sanitizing stations. Very very poor, do not recommend.
