Good evening, after the discussions with other parents at other secondary schools, I find the rules regarding eyelash extension and acrylic nails need to be reviewed. You are educating our children for an adult life and for all appearances are all over social media it is a big key of their life, I feel eyelash extensions should be reviewed and natural eyelash extensions should be acceptable if it boosts ones confidence and helps with children's insecurity's in this world we live in. Regarding Acrylic nails again a natural look should be acceptable like French tips. I hope you take my views into consideration
What am incredible school! It lets me pursue my education and meet new chums! Lovely school with such fine dining. The facility never fails to inspire me and my fellow educational pursuers. I have had a super duper experience
manor in the past few years has seen a massive influx of lgbtqiap+ students (especially trans students), and has developed a massive program to allow these students to be open and spread their beliefs, along with some of the most severe punishments for anyone who doesn't agree with them (such as month long isolation from peers). take that as you will
although their is support in the form of punishment for the aggressors, there is a massive problem non existent support for student mental health, I know many people with serious issues unresolved for their entire school lifetime, this is made worse by hilariously mentioning student mental health in assemblies all the time, and following by not actually putting anything in place other than an unreliable online speak up system.
the school has a horrendous way of supporting neurodiversity (I have AS), pushing students into a hub, segregating them from mainstream students, and being far too overprotective for their own good.
the school has a terrible punishment system, that extremifies things such as the equality act, and especially lgbtqiap rights, with trans people and gay people immediately being regarded as victims if they report anything, even if what their saying is hearsay, or what the so called aggressor only stated an opinion or just ignored a groups pronouns, this is an incredible infringement on freedom of speech
and a blind ignorance on the values of opinions
Bullying in the school was a very common thing and 9 times out of 10 was not dealt with. Teachers would tell them to say sorry even if they had just been strangling you for a full minute. Teachers are mostly good when it comes to teaching.
average school. average teachers. average food. care more about your socks than your mental health. care more about the schools reputation than the students. puts on a front. missed out on lots of opportunities in our final year that other schools got because they couldn't be bothered. lack of respect for students. mentally unsafe place. not listened to, effects our final grades. pastoral team are shocking, don't deal with the problem just take you out of lesson. very very strict on things that weren't important. was forced to hand over house keys/ locker keys and phones for a planner sheet. put more effort into the sports teams/ people than anyone else. don't deal with genuine problems.
This school is so understanding! They really care about what you're going through you just need to make them aware! People always say it's bad but they are the people that don't try to get help they just expect it!
There are a few good teachers that cared, but overall a bad experience. They don’t seem to care about anyone’s mental health, only about appearance and their ‘reputation’. I had a hard time here, and the only thing they seemed to care about was that I had some piercings that weren’t ‘school policy’. They need to come into the 21st century, and start treating both the teachers and students like people.
Awful school, cares only about academically smart students and couldn’t care less about anyone suffering from mental health issues at all. Pastoral teams are only bothered about appearance, behavior, etc… so unprofessional when dealing with anything and everything and are known to shout abuse at students, punishments are unreasonable and ineffective and they pick and choose who they want to apply rules to. Bullying is completely ignored and nothing gets done about it at all. During my time at this school, I was bullied for two years and it only ever stopped when they moved on to another student, school did absolutely nothing to help despite many reports and visits to pastoral. Teachers are racist, sexist, and have a complete lack of consideration or understanding for anyone that may be struggling or suffering from mental health issues or with their grades. Please do not send your child here!
I can not beg you enough to not send your child to this school. A couple of teachers are okay don’t get me wrong, the rest? They have absolutely no consideration for anyone but themselves. Mental health? Doesn’t matter at this school. I got bullied the whole time I was there, they ignored this, I hid in the toilets because of how bad the bullying was. What did they do? Give me a detention for skipping the lesson instead of dealing with the bullying. The food? lots of hair in there, it’s honestly not great. Also if you’re in the foster care system and don’t want anyone knowing; good luck. My ********* decided to tell the whole of my group what was going on with me when I wasn’t even there and I found out from my best friend, not the teacher himself. Like I say, do. not. send. your. child. to. this. school.
This school is absolutely awful, the pastoral team is one of the worst I’ve seen, they don’t believe that anxiety is real and make you go back into lessons when your in mid panic attack, when my uncle passed away they said they didn’t want me to go to his funeral as it was to close to my GCSEs they wanted to compromise by saying I could go for the service and come back in the afternoon, my dad politely said that I won’t be doing this as I was staying for the whole day to celebrate his life, from this day they pushed me aside and didn’t help me very much, I got bullied to the point I tried to take my own life and they still didn’t believe I was getting bullied, I do not recommend going to this school as it’s horrible.
This schools horrible. I’ve been bullied for my entire time here but they refuse to do anything, they overwork me when i have strict instructions from doctors (that they know about) and they just generally don’t care about their students. Also there was a fire in the bathrooms (quite a big one) and the alarms didn’t even go off.
Don’t send your child to this school! The extreme school rules make school not enjoyable in the slightest. The pastoral team do not care about mental issues such as anger issues, adhd, autism. When a kid does something wrong, the first thing to go through their minds is to punish them regardless of what mental issues they might have. They don’t try to help with the kids at all, and their very extreme punishing scheme only makes things worse for us students which I don’t think they realise! The school meals are absolutely awful, I’m not sure if this is because of limited supply due to covid, but I used to eat there every day and it was very nice. But now they have close to no options and it is disgusting. Overall very disappointed in manor! I beg you please find another school.
Overall very negative experience. The school went dramatically downhill over my time there. Not a very caring school with little regard for physical or mental well-being. Apart from a select few, teachers don’t seem passionate about subjects or like they care about their students but are more concerned with good grades. Poor discipline even at year 11 which is pretty shocking. Teaching isn’t great, didn’t even most finish gcse courses before exams. If you are looking for good teaching and a nurturing school, look elsewhere please.
Hell, it’s awful don’t bother the pastoral team literally bully you they’ve made me cry so many times and nobody does anything about it worst school going feel so vulnerable and alone and the lessons are shit you learn nothing in the years I’ve been going I’m just as smart as I was when I was in yr six I learned more in receptions ffs
malicious middle-class students, obvious split in the ‘side of the years’ , pathetic covid rules, sexist, expensive- ipad, food, both sets of required uniform
This is an alright school. Though, the mental health area needs a little direction. I was quite a sad kid in the beginning but luckily I’ve evolved over the years, none of this due to schools intervention (or lack thereof). A majority of the teachers are fabulous and I really love being taught by them. One of my major complaints were the really idiotic rules but since COVID they’ve had to be rearranged and things aren’t so bad. Some students can be a bit disrespectful to teachers and supply folk alike so beware.
The school is ok. Sadly it was much better, until the new pastoral team was created. Now it’s a place with way to many rules that never actually needed to be made(there wasn’t a problem). The school lacks the ability to help students. It’s all exams, exams and exams. One great thing about the school is the ordinary teaching staff, they are excellent and can’t do enough to be the best. It’s just such a shame the pastoral team has made the school so bad. Another point is that They don’t help students with mental health issues one bit. I had severe mental health issues at the school and I don’t think the pastoral team actually cared at all.
Sadly the school was great but now not so much
it gets praised a lot for their skill of handling kids with troubles but they really dont know how to deal with mental health issues. my daughter had pretty bad adhd and depression and anxiety so she struggled a lot in school but they continued to exclude her for things she couldn't control, she attempted suicide twice because of this school, once on school property. a teacher once tried to touched her inappropriately so she slapped him out of self defence and they excluded her for it. if your child has any difficulties learning or other basic things, don't send them here, the pastoral staff make things much worse and don't even attempt to help in an appropriate way.
