SEN? Avoid.

I am a parent, my 16 year old is autistic with severe adhd and this school has been nothing short of horrific for him. Diagnosed 2 years ago the school delayed diagnosis for 3 months as they couldn’t complete the paperwork, refused to support an EHCP application, teachers would purposefully trigger him and not support the reasonable adjustments plan put together with the Senco, during this time he was exploited and categorised as a Child In Need, he attempted suicide and was hospitalised for 3 days, social services became involved and during that time the school were very careful to address issues, now 6 months later all care plans are ignored and my son has been “shouted at” by the headmaster who has no idea about SEN children . I can’t wait for him to finish his GCSEs and leave this place.

Just so unsafe

Too many fights ,voilence and mental health arent taken seriously and dealt with in the right way ,the health and safety of us students is ignored as there has been many unsafe things such as broken ceilings and mushrooms growing

My Opinion

Honestly, there is only a couple good teachers you feel you can actually joke with. The food there isn’t amazing and they have a really bad behaviour policy and don’t treat everyone equal. Not the best 🏃‍♀️

Nothing much to say

I got my work done and got my connections sorted. I dont owe my career to anyone.
I do apreciate that some teachers made up for where my real family failed.

Identity crisis in this school is huge!

A terrible school if I’m honest. Constant fights. Rude children. Teachers only care about your appearance not your education. You can get isolated for having more than one earring which is rather embarrassing for the school system to put in place. Teachers completely disregard students having any identity by punishing them for hair, makeup, nails, piercings etc. YOU SHOULDN’T BE ALLOWED TO CONTROL SOMEONE ELSES BODY!!! I have asked before why the teachers have these rules and they say it is to “prepare us for the future” which is absolutely mad because all you are doing is taking away your students individuality. Wish there were more schools to send my kids than this one. On average the teachers are nice people but the rules and what the school stands for sucks.

A great secondary school

Both my children are happy going to school and have great relationships with the staff. They know who they can go to, should they be worried about anything, and feel confident they are listened to.

Many staff go above and beyond to support the children and families. Their individual needs are taken into account and teaching is adapted to suit their needs.

Communication is clear and parents are informed of changes. When problems arise, as they will in every school, staff respond quickly and manage situations appropriately.

My children are happy and learning well.

Magdalen college school brackley

Would you like to be a lunch time supervisor at Magdalen?

Yes?
Well as you have to do is be:
old, boring, have grey hair, have been given a speeding ticket once, don't think bullying exists and absolutely hate children.

Do you have what it takes to be a lunch time supervisor?

Review of Magdalen College School, Brackley

There is mixed reviews of this school. I am a student, I have friends at this school (varying needs and attainment), my mum is friends with quite a few parents, etc.
PROs -
- Range of food
- Broad amount of subjects are studied
- GCSEs are studied from Yr9. This gives students less stress about learning everything in time
- There is many teachers who are amazing and give loads of support.
CONs -
- Bullying is common and ignored. I have witnessed teachers join in and almost encourage it
- Food is expensive
- Most teachers are passive aggressive, do not help and do not teach subjects.
- LGBTQ+ Students are often severely bullied
- Mental Health is disregarded unless your attendance is below 80%, even then you need parents to be big advocates
- Unless you have an EHCP, students with special needs (varying levels) are treated awfully and given little to no support
- If there is a cover teacher, students do what they wish with no consequences
- No positive reinforcement
- Maths and Triple Science Focus
- Unless you can consistently get above 90% in academic subjects, mainly Maths and Science, you are forgotten about
