This school locked me in a room twice with another pupil. On the first occasion I was told I was ‘responsible for the pupil self harming’ and needed to ‘sort it out’ so was shut in a room with said person for HOURS.
The second time myself and a friend were locked in a room and told we were responsible for yet another pupil - who had self harmed but this time they just told us she had to go to hospital so myself and my friend were terrified she was going to die. I was 14. I was friends with the girl and she had gotten upset I went to my other friends house the night before. No bullying etc involved (even if it was this still isn’t acceptable?!) the pupil who had self harmed had a long history of self harm already and was later diagnosed with mental disorders which the school were not very supportive with.
The lessons were great and the building/setting is wonderful but the management level staff were barbaric. And definitely broke several safeguarding laws / policies. My parents were never informed of either incident.
As an adult it is only now I sit and reflect and realise how absolutely awful this was. At the time I was so scared and made to feel so ashamed I didn’t feel I could talk to any adults about it.
