Ive had multiple bad experiences at this school and I've seen and watched similar things. To name just a few: on multiple accasions I've smiled and said hello to a certain deputy head and all they have done back every time is almost death stare me and not say anything back; another quite recent incident in the lunch hall this younger student stole another person's tie (just doing what friends do) and this student throws the other person's tie and the current head teacher storms over bends down in this boys face and shouts in his face to get out !!! An adult should never treat a child this way, I honestly find it embarrassing that a supposed "great head teacher" resorts to anger before treating the other person like a human being and talk to them. The deputy head that I mentioned before is quite frankly a bully and abuses her power as she preaches how kind she is yet when I tried to show her kindness all she could do was somewhat treat me like dirt. Another incident which was also quite recent- there was a huge heat wave and it was 30+ degrees and I come in after lunch very hot and I walk into my lesson and a science teacher storms in after me (I didn't notice at the time) shouts to me "Oi you! Put your blazer on now". Incidents like this happen far to often and whenever it comes to OFSTED coming around they get us to act like everything is good.
This school is terrible it provides no help for the children and the way the staff deals with misbehaving children is foul if u want ur child not screamed at for unnecessary reasons.
This school also has very disgusting safe guarding team and is proven unhelpful throughout the years my child has been in school
I regret to write this review about Lady Manners School, but my recent experience compels me to share my concerns. While some of the teachers at the school are commendable, I must express my deep dissatisfaction with the head teacher, Mr. Peat, and his questionable behavior towards students.
My son, who is currently in Year 8, recently confided in me about his encounters with Mr. Peat. According to my son, Mr. Peat regularly takes his anger out on students, including my own child. As a concerned parent, it deeply troubles me to hear about a head teacher who resorts to such unprofessional conduct.
I have had a nephew who is older now who left the year mr peat joined and said that the previous head mr meikle was a kind soft spoken man but his friends who stayed on at 6th form said the school has gone down hill since the arrival of mr peat
The role of a head teacher is crucial in shaping the educational environment and fostering a positive learning atmosphere. However, Mr. Peat's behavior appears to undermine this fundamental purpose. It is disheartening to witness a leader who fails to treat students with the respect and empathy they deserve.
A head teacher should inspire, guide, and encourage students, but my son's experience indicates otherwise. Instead of fostering a nurturing environment, Mr. Peat's actions instill fear and anxiety in the students. It is not only detrimental to their academic progress but also detrimental to their emotional well-being.
As a concerned parent, I expected Lady Manners School to provide a safe and inclusive space for my child's education. However, Mr. Peat's behavior stands as a significant obstacle to achieving this goal. His actions cast a shadow over the efforts of the dedicated teachers who genuinely care about their students.
It is disheartening to witness a school where the head teacher fails to prioritize the well-being and development of the students. Such behavior not only undermines the school's reputation but also creates an unhealthy learning environment. I implore the school administration to address this matter promptly and ensure that the students' concerns are taken seriously.
In conclusion, while Lady Manners School may have some commendable teachers, the presence of Mr. Peat as the head teacher has left a lasting negative impact. I would caution other parents to consider alternative options if they are seeking a nurturing educational environment for their children. The well-being and happiness of our children should always be the priority, and unfortunately, Lady Manners School has fallen short in this regard.
Not an inherently rough school, most of the pupils and teachers have an alright level of respect for one another but the school has an insane level of stupid rules, students find it difficult to learn as the teachers care way more about their uniform, in the autumn and winter students get given detentions and tellings off by teachers in the corridors for wearing coats and jumpers (even though the jumpers are school pe jumpers with the logo on) when it is single figures in temperature and the school is an old cold stone building where they cannot afford to put the radiators one which are mostly broken, this results in most students getting a cold or a chill, on the other side of the spectrum when it is hot students are not allowed to take their blazers off in the corridors or at lunch or break, this results in overheating and heatstroke. The teachers never look out for students who say worrying things in class about mental or physical health, instead they are making sure to keep their eyes peeled for any jewellery or piercings, a single pair of studs is all that is allowed at the school but for students who already have multiple piercings this is an issue, the school regularly gives detentions for simple nose studs, i witnessed a girl who was forced to take her freshly pierced nose stud out, it bled profusely and got infected, whilst she was taking time off for her bad infection caused by the premature removal she could have been in school, learning. The dinners are also vile, never in my life have i ever seen food so processed, not even in McDonalds. Chicken that could be mistaken for rubber, lettuce with bugs in it, metal has also been found in select meals, the kitchen is unsanitary, witnessing dinner ladies spitting in buckets, and “clean” cutlery caked in food and dirt. Corridors in the school have no orderly fashion, a walk through the halls at break times will result in a number of injuries, year sevens are flung and trodden on left right and center and older students throw whatever they can get their hands on. Sport is forced upon students all the way to year 11, students could use the time to study, they hate pe, but instead teachers give detentions and negatives to students who do not have kit, do not want to participate and if a child is injured or unwell they say “put your kit on and try its not really an excuse” the sport is the same rotation every year, hockey, tennis, netball, badminton and maybe dance if its cold, this rota is only for girls boys get to to football and rugby, girls are not allowed which can be seen as discriminatory. The have a fully equipped gym and rarely let classes use it, Bullying is gone practically un detected, slurs are often said without repercussions, in one lesson a teacher tried to force a student to say a slur that he did not reclaim, the same teacher made jokes and mocked the LGBTQ+ the entire class was shocked at this but teachers took no action whenever it was reported. Overall the school needs a lot of work, they need a larger budget (that is unfortunately not in their control) they need stricter staff rules and proper training courses, they need to educate the students on etiquette and harmful behaviour and need to stop the focus on stupid minor things like uniforms and jewellery and focus on the students education and wellbeing.
This school is absolutely dreadful . The school culture is really clique driven . It's loaded with horrible bullying behaviour which is all overlooked. There is a repulsive sense of entitlement which is harnessed by the students. In fact the majority of students are beyond dull , insecure , unable to tolerate diversity and quite frankly stupid.
If you favour conformity to clique driven bullying and an absolute lack of beauty then this is the place for you and your children 🤮🤮🤮
The school does what it’s intended to do but the school don’t know and follow there own rules, such as the the teachers don’t follow one way system and the majority of teachers think that it’s ok to keep the whole class in late because of one or a group of people talking, also the bathrooms flood and students generally avoid them.
It is too strict we can’t do anything without getting a detention we only get 1 break and lunch but that is at 12 30 if you are on first but if u are on second you have to wait till 1 3 bad things and it is a detention
Good school, teachers are nice, great sports, great music, great D&T (Engineering, Construction, DT) department. Foods always great, especially the chicken wraps. Toilet facilities could be better tho
