Approach to exams is terrible, given the majority of the content we are assumed to remember. Staff are a mixed bunch, some really kind and supportive- others not so much. Approach to mental health has been improving over the recent years, however i cant say its very good. School uniform rules are pretty ridiculous, given how revealing the PE kits are for both genders. Lessons aren’t very engaging most of the time, and most students lack a drive of motivation as a result of this.
This school is absolutely terrible. I'm currently a student at this school and the way they deal with mental health and bullying is absolutely atrocious. I went to our "nurse" I guess you could call her about some things and she said "everyone deals with this it's part of growing up" but I seriously doubt everyone in that school harms themself. That's how bad it is. And I've gone to her so many times about anxiety attacks and each time she sent me back with a laminate sheet of breathing techniques when I told her they don't work. This school is terrible with teachers too. Some of them are nice and don't give much homework. But half the time the teachers repeatedly pick on the students without their hand raised and from personal experience it causes a lot of panic attacks. The math teachers are especially bad for picking on students. They make you do things you aren't comfortable with. I was crying on a residential about not wanting to do something because of the height but they made me do it anyway. They give you no way to express yourself, the uniform is terrible and the pe kit for girls is disgusting. They complain about skirts being short when it's just above the knee and then make skorts that show your bum!! A teachers (female) told my best friend to pull her skort down since she could literally see her bum! Absolutely disgusting. Also I went to a teacher about bullying and she said to me and the other girl show as bullying me "either talk or don't talk". Exactly- that's not how you treat bullying in your school. All in all. I'm disgusted I'm still going to this school. The teachers are unfair on students. The students can't express themselves with hair dyes etc. And then the homework amount is horrible. From year 7 onwards it's none stop homework. We were doing a very important test and something's in the paper we were never taught before. We told our teacher and he said "I thought you learnt it in year 8". How are we meant to remember that?!! The teachers don't teach you enough to rememeber what the teachers said and then blame to students when they did a bad job in the tests. Still can't believe I haven't left this school by now and if another thing happens. I will leave.
The school doesn't let you have youre uniform skirt above the knee. However the skort or pe skirt barely covers our areas. The "head of years" tend to be ableist and belittle children's situation, whether it's bullying or previous sexual tramua. The teachers lack the education and knowledge of dealing with pupils suffering from mental health illnesses. They assume everyone in the school is rich and has money to pay for new school trousers every time they split open, which is very common as the school trousers for both men and women are not inclusive of different body types. No more then lobe piercings because it will "affect your learning". Hair colour will also "affect learning" and same with make up. The teachers tend to be unhelpful with stressful situations, and school work ingeneral. Overloading pupils with excessive amounts of work from year 7. They do nothing to support struggling pupils. Plenty of students in school meal sections are barely feed due to ridiculous time tabling of lunch que and there's no restriction on how much younger years can buy. You very rarely have somewhere to eat. During outdoor pe lessons pupils (predominantly female) feel unsafe due to the uniform.
