This school is an excellent start to life. The teaching methods make for fun and engaging lessons while also building essential skills and character along the way. The teachers communicate very well with the children and have a good understanding of their needs and thought processes. They help the children build not only academic ability, but communicative, social and moral prowess too. It is a very positive environment all around, a beautiful building and is a great way to start learning about the world.
However, when it comes to neurodivergency such as autism, the school falls flat. We had trouble getting a diagnostic for my sibling as the headteacher would not agree to help, refusing to 'put labels' on kids. We understand that opinion, but such 'labels' are necessary for the child to understand themselves and how their world works and to get the help they require throughout life.
It should be noted that this is the only complaint we have about Kingsmead Primary School.
