The experience I had in this school was not good for me. My mental health by the end of it was nearly none existent and I nearly instantly saw improvements to it when I left the school last year, this was due to the sorts of students at the school and the amount of work and stress I was put under. Now I am going to a college where the only stress they put you under is truly relevant to your learning and development instead of stupid rules and uniforms and I have found a really good group of mates that actually support me.
The school has some great qualities but has a serious bullying problem. i know people who are harassed daily and nothing is done and it does not seem to bother teachers in the slightest. Students are not very well listened too and are often made to feel uncomfortable when unnecessary. Ofsted inspection recently took place and an assembly was made telling students exactly what to say etc. The school food is often raw and the free school meals don't even give you enough money to get main meal and a drink! Many students dread coming into school each day and the principals own son is a bit of a bully but of course nothing is done.
This place traumatised me, i was constantly lied to and had my trust broken time and time again. If you aren’t a cishet, white, thin, able bodied and neuro typical then this place is hell on earth.
Massive amount of bullying that school do not deal with.
Huge safeguarding issues such as s3xual assault and harassment not properly dealt with
A few very unfair teachers who do actually cause emotional harm to students
Some decent teachers and safeguarding staff but most of the time very dismissive and don’t take safeguarding concerns that seriously. Which results in mentally unwell students
School cares much more amount pushing for grades than the well-being of students. Sad when there is so many resources that could be used. Needs to change there attitude about grades and look after the pupils as a priority
this school has good resources and high quality teaching standards, but from the point of view of students, we are not listened to. a new uniform has recently been introduced, without so much as a thought about the impact on students, only how the school will be represented. the student council is just for show, never being asked about important decisions, so i am fed up
Good resources but that’s honestly it. Students aren’t listened to and we aren’t given means to suggest change for the school. The teachers claim to listen to our views by giving votes, but then completely disregard the results. Sexism by teachers is common, being far stricter against boys than girls. The school simply cares about results, rather than the well-being of the student body.
