staff need to sort themselves out, bad tempers, dont know how to control kids with mental issues
food is too expensive and always cold, dry, hard to bite into/stale
education and activites is great overall, minor issues
environment as a whole is partially welcoming, fights happen often in and outside school, punishments are harsh
uniform is uncomfortable, expensive, poorly made, especially the pe uniform, strict policies towards uniform, ends in severe punishments that are not needed
Overall not a bad school, but if you have mental health problems or bullying problems then dont expect help. The teachers and higher up's only care about results and not the wellbeing of their students UNLESS it makes the school look bad + they favour the more popular kids and disregard some of the quieter kids unless they pull good results. So many pointless changes have been made - like adding the 20 mins of reading and not allowing phones outside, as well as breaking the bank for the food there. The facilites are quite good and the teachers in general are good teachers, but if you want longevity then dont come to this school.
-food is too expensive
-well being team is terrible unless you misbehave in lessons
- most teachers have a god complex and are unnecessarily rude to students
-sixth formers have no freedom they can’t even have any visible tattoos even though most businesses wouldn’t care as long as they’re not offensive
-no piercings or unnatural hair colours to be more “business like” but again, most people in work that ive seen havent stuck to that rule
- the lunch and breaks are way too short
-nice building
Much better quality teaching than anywhere else in the area, some negatives like lacking of freedoms to wear what you want but the school excels in the areas that really matter. Has improved greatly in the last few years and have nothing but gratitude to the school for the amazing teaching they have provided me leading me to get great GCSE’s
Even though the mental health team is not great and they don’t handle bullying as well as they say they do, the school has amazing facilities, I have made amazing friends here and many teachers have really helped me out even when the well being staff did nothing. I have received nothing but support and encouragement from the teachers and while some are not my favourite they are by no means bad teachers. The school don’t make everything about education, they put on many fun little competitions and some of these are the highlights of my time at KBA, it is an amazing school.
it’s a nice building but the teachers have a god complex the mental health team is shit unless you basically try to die in school they won’t do anything about it. the food is too expensive and quite poor quality. no individuality allowed any piercings or unnatural hair colours and you get sent home or put into isolation and uniform is more important that your education. lunch and breaks are too small and phones aren’t allowed in the building so you have to stand outside in the freezing cold. usually if you’re late by even a few minutes you get an hour detention after school which is unfair. i’ve been going for 12 years as it’s convenient but i can’t wait to leave as the sixth formers get treated like children
There are many facilities (such as sports, arts and dance) which are excellent and very well cared for, however the school lacks in terms of handling bullying and there is little to no support for mental health.
