Year 9

Stay away from this school

Hi daughter went there for 8 months and it was the worst experience of not only my daughters but mine as well, most the teaches are leaving as they are not happy, the few teachers that remain are very hard to communicate with, the student support is a absolute joke with no help at all, the drama teacher is terrible and most of the performance he does he doesn’t want to do and even feeds this to the students

Thankfully I took her out and moved school which now she is thriving

I will never recommend this school.

As a person who went to this school. THIS SCHOOL ACTUALLY SUCKS. i been bullied physically and verbally. when I tried to tell the student support lady she just told me to tell my PT which is stupid. My friend to this day has expirienced racism bc this kid just hung out with him no matter what. I liked some teachers because they actually cared for you but the others are literal trash. The bad teachers would literally send you to detention just because you talked. Some of the medic staff also are bad because to most of the people who threw up (including me) were just told that it was self inflicted. Only when i threw up for the last time aka my 7th time they would try to send me home. That happened several times. LAST THING. THE LITERAL BATHROOM POLICY. i needed to get a bloody toilet pass to go to the toilet otherwise if u didnt have one you wouldnt be able to go at all or u would need to stay behind the amount of time you spend there. Overall, if u want your kid to most likely get depression, anxiety, + some other mental health disorders then u might aswell send them here. they would most likely not care about your child unless they are neurodivergent.

Not aloud a tiny nose stud while they have them in no makeup or nothing while they’re sat there in 10 layers. Do not come here

Hellish Experience

My child has experienced a lot with this school, to say the least. Although, the school tends to be a lot better than many within this area, there are still many flaws.

The school's layout is big and well-organised. Classrooms are labelled specifically and can be easily found. However, the hallways still experience a lot of bustling, despite the tape informing student where to go. My child did say that the hallways are often blocked. This causes many issues when you need to go somewhere important. Even if you have permission to go somewhere, you will always be turned back.

The teachers tend to be very biased and pick favourites. This has caused a lot of gaps in my child's learning when a teacher has gone into very little detail for obvious reasons. I can't say the quality of the education is great either. My child often experiences boredom due to already understanding this. She states the classes are practically useless and she'd be better teaching herself.

Bullying and the other students' behaviour are a huge problem within the school. The school's bullying problem has caused my child to feel overwhelmed within the environment. She often feels ill just thinking of school. She's been made fun of for countless things and nothing has been done. When she's gone to wellbeing, they've mainly turned her around. If she does manage to get in the office, they let her cry in there for about five minutes and turn her back to class, regardless of whether she's ready or not. I know this is not the first time a pupil has been felt like this which honestly makes it worst.

this school makes me want to die.

As a member of this school, i agree that the students get treated terribly here. All the staff care about is the way you present your self (appearance) instead of education. I am constantly getting told to put my blazer on, take bracelets off, take jewellery out, tuck shirt in, take makeup off and loads more. Normally, kids are meant to enjoy to go to school but every morning i wake up dreading it as all i do is get told off about the way i look. That is none of their business whatsoever. The way i do my hair, the jewellery i wear doesn’t affect them in any shape or form. The rules are honestly just way too strict here. You can’t even show your ankles!! This school couldn’t give two shits about your mental health. I spent half of year 8 feeling alone and scared to talk to the teachers about the way i felt because they don’t deal with things correctly. This school treats kids so unfairly and try and suspend kids at the most pathetic reasons. I once got suspended for not taking my makeup off, so the teachers would rather me miss my education that could benefit me in the future all for some concealer and blush. Things in this school need to change immediately. Their are only a few good staff members there including Miss Lucien, Miss Rodgers and Miss Trubshaw. That’s literally it. This school is a jail. Think twice before sending your kids to this school, you will regret it.

Teacher assault and gangs

Please please don’t send your child to this school. A teacher pulled my child and it was covered up. My child was so traumatised I took them out of the school. Head teacher just wants a perfect school to the outside world. But believe me it’s not. Gangs take over the corridors and when they attack and bully surprisingly it’s never caught on camera!

Great job JTFS!

The beginning of the year is a challenging experience for both parents (especially for parents of kids in year 7) and staff. Even if Diamond bus did not anticipate their needs very well, the staff of JTFS was great. I really appreciate their involvement in solving the transport issues. The fact that one member of the staff was always present at the bus station really helped my daughter to gain a little bit of confidence. Great job!

Pathetic.

This school is the definition of harassment and racism. teachers let white children go to the toilets and turn a blind eye to the dark skinned students. They care more about your shirt tucked in than they care about people bringing vapes into the school. Not only this but some of the teachers are disgraceful and feel they can belittle and humiliate students in front of the class, creating low self esteem and insecurity. This 'Turn up work hard be nice' is literal irony, considering the fact that the teachers have the nerve to come 10 mins late to lesson but scold kids who show up two minutes late due to being told to tuck their shirt in. Pathetic.

school buses this year.

john taylor free school have now changed to buses to be public ones, this means my child has to take 2 buses in the morning, 2 to get home. at least for my area. I think this is not ideal at all since my child has to leave the house by 7:25 to get on her buses, and then return on the buses back. not to mention, with school making the lunches shorter and starting the day 10 minutes earlier, they have shortened the school day to 3:20, but unfortunately my child cannot have that privilege because there making them wait 30 minutes for the bus to town, and then get on another bus which results to them to arriving at home at 5pm or later. this also worries me about how dark it can get in winter at 5pm. i dont want my 11 year old child to be walking in the dark on their own and waking that early. gas is very expensive so driving my child everyday to school and picking them up is extremely inconvenient. I wouldn’t recommend this school also because there never do anything about bullying except from talking to the child, my child states the chicken is often basically raw, some teachers can be unfair sometimes but at the end of the day it is quite hard to get control of 30 children on your own. i think the education is fine in my opinion, my child often complains the support team dont do much except from let you sit in there office to stop crying for 10 minutes, give you a sweet, and send you straight back to class. but im not sure how everything actually goes on because i am not there. but overall i dont think this is a very great school, especially with the bullying.

Head teacher and some other teachers need a training for pastive attitude and approache. I believe a new Head and deputy head will change school's future.

Finally goodbye to John Taylor Free school "thank God''

There was a GCSE result day yesterday and it became very clear that Head teacher has failed to achieve the result she wanted to achieve only because of her negative approache and attitude.
Student were heart broken after seeing the results. Parents needs to be mindful when choosing John Taylor Free school it is only a pretty building.

Disgraceful bullies

This schools gets worse. Total disregard for children's well-being. They treated my child so badly once a really confident child is now a shadow of their former self and this was not other pupils doing but certain teachers that the head let bully and my belittle my child.

Disgraceful

This school is a complete joke, they may as well turn a blind eye to bullying as the teachers are just as bad as the children. I am surprised any child in the school has a positive experience, my child had continous anxiety and stress that they were unable to even focus on learning. The teachers feel its acceptable to yell and belittle your children in front of their peers which is nothing more than instigating the bullying that takes place amongst the children. I would avoid this school at all cost, the treatment of the children at this school has effected my child to the point their personality is completely different and I just hope now they have left and are in a more positive schooling environment they can get back to being the happy child they always were before.

Year 7-8

John taylor free school

During lunch time students are not allowed to travel in the building unless eating and this shows as I’d they don’t trust students and even like primary school behaviour as this what happened at primary school as well. Even in winter months when it was snowy and icy all students had to stay outside

Another problem I found with the school is the reward and punishment system in which 45 minute detentions where handed out all over the place and positive points meant virtually nothing.

Another thing they do is split everyone up into houses which created a quite hostile and aggressive system of trying to beat everyone else and make people who didn’t win feel bad.
