The school is alright to be fair. The only let down is the toxicity that runs through the year groups and some teachers. If you know how to keep your head down and stay amongst your friends it is alright though.
There are some brilliant teachers and some not so great ones (i had some of both) but a lot of them will help if you get stuck and are pretty good at talking to students. If you respect the teachers they usually respect you.
Bullying is a problem and is usually pushed aside with the school caring more for uniform and vaping. You're not even allowed to wear your own coat and if they find it on you or see you with it even while leaving schoolyou'll get a planner comment and asked to take it off.
stupid.
all they care about is planners and my child got a full day of isolation just for that ONE BOOK. I think thats disgraceful, why doesnt my child deserve to take classes because of a PLANNER? What is this? An immigration centre?
And dont get me started on the wellbeing. All they do is listen to students complaints and send them back. Teachers are extremely manipulating and never let the students get a choice. My child was extremely sick and they blamed it on the weather and didn't let him go home. What even are they? Being apart of wellbeing here is a completely useless position. No way they get payed for this. They do no good to the school.
Most the teachers are so bad. My child has been self studying everything and hasn't learnt anything from school! Many students are so uncivilised.
Don't send your child here! They could be spending their education at a much better place.
For the sake of your kids life please don’t send them to this school other students would mess around and behave like idiots like it is some sort of joke and I’m talking about big year for 11’s who are about to sit their GCSEs and think it’s funny to just mess around and also there are some daft people who spray water with the water guns during the summer and the teachers don’t even see it and also I once saw in my class a kid in my lesson he put his trousers down a little bit and flashed his bum and the teacher was clueless and didn’t even see it and also as I was walking up the stairs to get to my lesson I saw a kid giving another kid his vape to try and he had a try and of course the teacher’s also didn’t see that there is so many problems in this school and it needs to get fixed ASAP
I admitted my daughter here a year ago and I am APPALLED!!!! My daughter has been coming home in tears from the bullying and the teachers dont seem to care about mental health. Many cases of sexual asult have happened and teachers and heads dont seem to care.I had to move schools after spending tons of money on this one. This school is not safe and the children here are not good inflences.
Good school if your children are in gangs or bullies or like too ask female classmates too preform a sexual act on them while having their private parts out
Terrible school full of sex offenders and bullies shipped in from the west end of Newcastle. A boy indecently exposed himself in class and asked a girl to commit a sexual act on him for a fiver yet is still allowed to walk the corridors of this school assaulting other pupils. The expulsion procedure is set up to support the perpetrators at the expense of the school and other students.
This is a terrible school with a large gang culture full of bullying, the schools response to any bullying is poor at best. It sets its bar very low as to what type of pupils attend and to the environment in school. I would not recommend this school.
As a student who just joined this school i already hate it.
The teachers only care about our uniform planners and their reputation.
They give u planner comments for no reason. If u have your phone in your pocket it's a planner comment Because, apparently, it is visible to them. and the other rules are not fair either
The second reason is that some teachers dont teach you anything like they would just get a random short video from youtube and they would show it to the class while they are on there phone .like what kind of teaching is that . Some teachers actually teach really good and plan the things for the students but to be honest its really rare getting the nice teachers.
the third reason is that you have to pay for EVERYTHING so now if u lost your planner they would charge you for it (£5) or if u didnt pay for it you would go to isolation for the whole week. if u didnt have your stationary or anything like if u forgot them they would charge u (£1, 50p 5p 10p 20p ) just for it.
they pertend to be a good school by supporting the lqbtq+ but really they just hang them up for attention . and i almost forgot that if u take the 38 going there and back prepare to die becouse the boys at the back would throw water play louad music vape and do other stupid stuff in the bus and they teachers didnt do anything only tell us to stop like ONCE and they forgot about it .
am just saying if you dont want your child to suffer dont take them to this school.
This school has some amazing teachers and the curriculum is decent. However, it’s let down with its mental health support. There is barely any support and what is there is dismal. After speaking to many other students, it’s clear that everyone who reaches out is dismissed or not helped in a way that deals with the situation. The support for people struggling with their identity or sexuality is even worse. Bullying often goes unpunished and hate speech and hate crimes are dealt similarly with not much action taken.
They only really care about uniform and red socks whilst disregarding racism and bullying that happens in front of them. Many teachers do not know how to communicate with students effectively meaning that short videos found on YouTube explain topics better than many teachers’ explanations that take up multiple lessons.
A few teachers are good at their job and genuinely care about their students however it’s not often that you get them as your teacher.
A decent thing is that it’s at least slightly improved since the change from Heaton manor to JPA.
On the other hand, they also solely care about academics and their image as a school meaning that many issues are tossed aside due to how they can go unnoticed.
If you don’t believe that you can teach yourself many subjects’ topics and that you can’t handle racism, homophobia, sexism, etc that is never resolved, don’t go to this school
Decent curriculum but the attitude of students as well as staff is a let down. Systematic bullying is a problem at jesmond park and parents cannot contact the governors regarding issues that were overlooked by staff,
i got bullied countless times and all they did was bring you together which made it worse. if they actually cared about the kids and not just the uniform maybe it would be better. so concerned about uniform and kids being bullied if they express them selves but they dont even care if the kids get bullied. teachers are extremely manipulating and never let the students get a choice. very bad communication and you are tossed aside unless you're in year 11
overall it’s alright, gets the job done. Has improved over the years but still not great. Some of the rules are just ridiculous and unnecessary. Most teachers are alright but some aren’t very good and just can’t teach. it’s not terrible are worse schools around. Need better student counselling adn support
Don't care about well being or individuals, only care about uniform, one way systems and exam results. Senior staff members probably only know the names of a handful of kids and those are usually the badly behaved ones. Teachers are alright, some really care about their students but most of those left when the school became an academy. Organisation and communication, especially to parents, is shockingly bad and rules are pointless and pedantic. Terrible with accommodating learning difficulties and make rules up on the spot to suit their agenda. My 5 years here were miserable and the majority of the kids in my year left to go elsewhere for sixth form/college despite everyone saying how much better the school was and how much it had changed positively. If you've got thick skin and know how to just get on with it then you'll be alright but if you're anything else I seriously do not recommend.
