I have mixed reviews on my school, some teachers genuinely care and will do anything to help, other teachers are power hungry and heartless. I had a sudden death in my immediate family and another immediate family member on deaths door last year and it was an extremely difficult time for me as you can imagine. A couple of teachers went above and beyond and helped me more than they will ever know, other teachers ridiculed me for absence and when I explained that I needed to go to the hospital their response was ‘do I really have to be there’ which is just heartless and insensitive. They also pick and choose which rules apply on the day and to which students, it’s one rule for one and one rule for another. I witnessed a member of SLT scream at a year 9 girl for wearing the tiniest bit of makeup but let a girl in the exact same year group wearing massive false lashes and an obscene amount of makeup on walk straight past them. They scream at year 7s to the point of them crying saying they look scruffy for not having their top buttons fastened. They need to get their rules straight and stop treating students with no respect whatsoever.
Poor management and decisions made about pupils. If you are one of the cult, fine. If not, you are unsupported, ostracised and excluded. They do not do what they profess to do. If you are academic and maintain their Ofsted rating you are in, otherwise be prepared to be bullied out.
They do not want to manage any issues, they would rather their pupils leave for another school. They do not send out the correct, morale messages to children.
No stars , currently nllt ignore all e mails Jo Heaton Ceo , hasn’t done a thing about all the assaults and bullying . From pupils and a senior staff member .of
I.R.A.
Current situation is the head has told pupils not parents that they cannot say NO to a teacher nor can they ask WHY !
The assaults happening to pupils on a daily basis are deleted by staff from mobile phones , but non have been passed on to local police . Nor have staff notified parents that the school keeps copies . But they are never passed on to police , basically perverting the course of justice .
Subject access requests are ignored , no copies of assault incidents are being passed on to parents when requested .
The level of control measures that current SLT staff are taking is beyond madness .
Perpetrators aren’t being punished severely enough .
Staff on break times hang around In groups / gangs like kids do on street corners .
Avoid this school completely and any other nllt trust school. Worst place your children could be !
This school is so bad I'm going into yr 9 and honestly I cant deal with the shit anymore I got called an attention seeker for having panic attacks bcs apparently how often I have them isn't possible when in reality it fkn is you jst know jack shit. The uniform policy is stupid like m8 I roll my skirt up in school alot but anyways I got sexually harassed by lads qnd they told me it was my fault for having my skirt rolled up. Another thing the do not taken bullying seriously at all there has been moments to students were self harm has been involved bcs the bullying is getting thay bad amd they still do nothing about it I have Been getting bullied for ages now since Yr 7 and iv told every teacher and I got the same response "we will deal with it when we can" But nfn got done ever. They also really don't help with mental health at all they treat u like shit and the teachers make me overthink so much and rn I'm going thru alot and I'm get punished for everything I do and everything always seems to be my fault qnd even when it'd not I get forced to take the blame and if I don't agree with them I get shouted at and stuff. Jst please don't send ur kid here it's really not worth the shit everyone goes thru qnd it's a really shirty school with careless teachers. Also if the school reads this sort out Mr Spence now he's a nonce man he looks under girls skirts and treats everyone like shit he's fkn creepy and wierd man sort the lad out he deserves to be fired I put a complaint in qnd they did nfn do yk plus my friends have been called stupid, ugly, Doyle, idiot by him which ain't funny
Stupid and mildly cultish (staff are mostly good though)
This place is just overall horrific. The former headteacher did nothing besides occasionally confiscate people’s phones, instead of actually managing the school like they were supposed to. The management is ridiculous, and everything is restricted. It also feels a bit like a cult. You are not allowed to dislike the school or any of the staff, and during an end-of-year assembly, they even said that us students are part of the Ian Ramsey “family” and that no matter what we will always be a part of it (I’m guessing they expect us to also be loyal to it or something stupid like that too). They proceeded to spend the rest of the assembly obsessing over and practically worshipping the headteacher and their family, and going on about how they’re leaving and how it’s a tragedy, among other mindless ramblings. The education is also very poor. They will teach things that require lots of study and memorising by teaching you a tiny bit of it for one lesson, then letting you forget about it, and then punishing you if you don’t remember it (such as if it is needed for an assessment) in the form of detentions and such. This is especially prevalent in the languages department. It’s not taught very well. This school also keeps the usual structure of the education system (creativity not really allowed, having to be obedient, being banned from doing completely fine and normal things, etc.) The staff (specifically MOST of the teachers and similar) are actually very good people, and very fun to be around, but the management of the school have no idea what they’re doing. There is a huge lack of care for mental health, and lots of people there are sick of existing. Aside from most of the staff, there’s nothing good about this place
Terrible, as let everyone in and out of the area. & not on merit. When I was there had a prolific bullying and racism problem. It was like a Zoo. They didn’t care what you got as long as you passed. Bare minimum.
They treat bullying terribly, not even doing anything about it.
they don't care one bit about mental health aside from a few support staff and probably wouldn't bat an eye if you got hurt, or if you were mentally unwell.
there have been multiple incidents of sexual harassment and abuse, some even by staff. If you have a problem that happens to you which is illegal, they will silence you and tell you not to tell the police, as it will ruin their reputation. this school should be shut down.
As soon as my son comes home from school he tells me all about the racial abuse he & his friends get. This is not halal mode. This went on for months & months. As the school was so anti-halal mode, he actually had to move to another local school (The Grange Field Academy). His experiences at this school were so much better. I will be writing a 4/5 star review for his new school, but as Ian Ramsey is so not Halal mode, I cannot say anything good for it.
if i could rate this a 0 i would im not enjoying this school at all students at this school are horrible and teachers do nothing but victim blame the students that are being bullied cause its "their fault" that their in that situation which 98% of the time isnt their fault the teachers are also horrible iv heard people get called horrible things by teachers and iv been taken the piss out of by a teacher aswell the teaching of some teachers are great but alot are bad but one thing i hate about the teachers is that they dont listen at all i struggle alot in school and have a learning problem and they do nothing about it to help me and in general i hate this school its awfull and the school is disgusting so personally i wouldnt pick to go to this school
The amount of homework that is given to my daughter is absolutely ridiculous. He was meant to spend 1 hour per night doing her homework. She spent over 2 and a half hours and she received a 'Negative Point' For spending too long on her homework.
As a year 11 student of Ian Ramsey I can say that my experience has been diabolical.
For instance a student in my P.E class was sexually abused in the changing rooms by another student. An assembly was called the next day by the head teacher (Mr Brian Janes) about the assault and he told us not tell anyone, as he would not want the police involved because it would make his school look bad. Naturally, it wasn't long until the police came round just after the school day ended. Brian Janes was then taken to custody. We think he was being questioned. The next day, Mr Jones was present but there was another visit from the police at around my lunch time (13:15). They left around half an hour later (the end of my lunch). We were then told that if he finds out who caused the police to come to the school would be excluded and beaten up. This then lead to people moving to another local school (The Grange Field Academy)
To summarise the school has an abusive teacher and I would suggest you should not join the School.
I hope the school sees this and takes some ounce of accountability for their outrageously warped priorities. Shutters on the toilets and outlandish uniform regulations aimed particularly towards girls are in currently in place as some pathetic attempt at seeming as though they have any remote capability of dealing with behavioural issues. I was a student from 2016-2021 and I witnessed countless cases of bullying and discrimination, along with drug use and weapon use. There were multiple sexual assaults that were dealt with in a scarily poor manner leaving girls feeling vulnerable and invalid, and this is largely due to the pastoral staff. The head teacher Mr Brian Janes is hugely out of touch with the students he is in charge of and barely engages in issues that occur. I can guarantee over half of my ex peers would agree on this and as a school Ian Ramsey needs change urgently and as an adult now I look back and see how important it is that they do so.
I think the school is alright. I have been here for a year now and its ok. Some lessons are bad but that's fine. I like the teachers, (cant tell names) and my favourite is the deputy head who is my english teacher. I like Ian Ramsey
I think that Ian Ramsey CoE school isn’t the greatest because it doesn’t handle bullying well and the amount of homework given is atrocious I got detention because I couldn’t finish my homework because I didn’t understand it.
teachers dont help with mental heath or if u feel ill they dont send u home they keep u in a prison they lock the toilets and some teachers dont even put u on the app its a bad school i think they should work harder and help people more with people who are suffering some children suffer from problems so they need the toilet or children get bullied and the teachers pastoral dont do anything im so glad im leaving next year
Hi my son is a pupil at this school last night he had temperature so I told him to take a day of school I will take you for a coved test I will notify the school so when I woke up morning time I contacted reception explained the matter she said ok I will notify his teacher then I started to get messages from school saying Abdul has an unauthorised obsent can you contact the school so I was upset about this why have they put an unauthorised absence on his record when my son has a genuine illness so I emailed them phoned them back up it was like a was stuck in a rock and a hard place no luck so his teacher emailed me back saying the message come prior to the call I said I phoned early and you have still not taken the unauthorised obsent of his record I told them I have been on the website and made notes of the policy and on policy it clearly states if kid is suddenly ill you have to notify school within the next day no were on the website dos it say you must notify them before or after a message it states clearly within next day so school have marked my son as unauthorised I question the running of this school I question the lack of communication between staff I question the care between teacher and the needs of pupils I feel like the standards of care and service is not being met and outside authority need to intervene to really train the staff sometimes it’s not always about teaching kids sometimes the teachers need addressing and I feel this school is way below the standards my son has also mentioned that he has never been treated write he feels the school is racist and don’t take racist matters seriously my son has told me the teachers treat him differently
i’m only in year 7 and my experience with the school so far has been mixed, there are ups and downs but one big problem in this school for me is how the school deals with problems. If someone is being racist to another and the victim attacks the racist then it’s only the attacker/victim who gets in trouble. Also need to deal with misbehaved children better. Education is fine and i have no problem with that.
Major problem with homophobia (one of my friends child was told that talking about homosexual retaionships was not acceptable and they would be placed in detention for doing it again) and sexism not to mention the way the school covered up numerous reports about a student sexual assaulting other students and bragging about it. The head teacher told parents NOT to get the police involved as it would damage the schools reputation! Clearly he doesn't care about the safety of his students and there well being 😡 So glad my child has left now
