Absolutely do not recommend

I had 5 awful years here. I am autistic and was treated badly by the SENCO, being firmly told off on one occasion over something i couldnt control whilst i was having a panic attack and hyperventilating. Some of the teachers are lovely. But this school is absolute crap, many parents i know here have felt forced to pull their children out. A few of the senior head of years were apalling and so unsupportive. The school is way too firm on behaviour when there are so many other things they should be worrying about, like the amount of SEN pupils who are so anxious they are refusing to go to school (why is this? Hint: its not the child or parents fault)

DO NOT SEND UR CHILDREN HERE!!!!

don’t send your children here!! they don’t let the children do anything and it’s draining. The toilets get locked and they complain when you walk out of lesson to go toilet if they don’t let u go. they give u detention for the tiniest thing and it’s full off seagulls! The ground is littered and there’s few teachers that actually care, they push all the major stuff under the carpet and don’t pay attention to the students unless there “acting up” or “being innapropriate” cause there getting bullied. it’s draining! do not let them here!

Awful and getting worse

Terrible school getting worse by the day - dreadful senior leadership team who just care about reputation rather than quality of education. Misogyny and sexism is rife. Can’t believe we still have schools approach education like this in 2023.

School is overly focused on uniforms and particularly what girls are wearing even on non uniform days. No leggings apparently or any top that ends at the waist or starts below the neck. Absolutely no shoulders on ‘display’ either. They may as well just add behaviour points for anyone with shoulders, breasts, bottoms or thighs. Still not really sure what this has to do with our young people’s education - everyday sexism is everyday at Humphrey’s.

Focus on petty rules which change all the time and aren’t thought out to what they are trying to achieve. The approach seems to be conform and obey rather than collaborate and encourage students. Staff just randomly shouting one word directives: lanyard! shirt! blazer!

Archaic behaviour policy with arbitrary application and does nothing to improve student behaviour. Staff just issuing out random threats - C1 for asking a question C2 for having legs in a skirt

Students not allowed to use the toilets - either locked or teachers won’t let them leave the classroom. Also not allowed to drink water in class which probably links to the ridiculous toilet rules.

Blazers on on a blazing hot day. Shorts finally allowed but must be LONG or otherwise all pupils may become distracted by the sight of knees and fail their GCSEs.

Some good staff but you have to look. quite hard for them. School
also seems to recruit some really unprofessional and unstable teachers who think it’s ok to scream at pupils across the school, hold vendettas and talk about students in a derogatory way to other students, seemingly hate children and are happy to tell them that. Not surprising the staff are leaving in droves.

They have a head girl and head boy scheme but the speeches they do are written by the head teacher so no deviation from what’s allowed to be said. The mantra parroted by SLT is ‘we are a good school’ - which couldn’t be further from the reality. There’s no nurturing, creativity, excitement, autonomy, respect, passion to be found in the staff and these qualities aren’t recognised in students.

Don’t bother complaining unless you want to hear more regurgitation about being a good school. No listening, no learning and if any concessions are eventually agreed they’re then not enacted.

Avoid this school - it’s made my children absolutely miserable.

Humphrey Perkins is like a prison!

Absolutely awful school. They have a zero tolerance policy when it becomes to behavior's. The kids are treated like inmates in a prison camp. Teachers give detentions for very low level minor behavior's and then exaggerate or completely bend the truth. They hand out so many detentions that they have their own dedicated detention team. Some teachers are nice (not many) but the majority are not. They shout at the pupils and have zero respect for them. They demand respect from the pupils, but they don't know how to set a good example themselves. The current head of year 7 is very unsupportive, shouts at the pupils and threatens them. The school only cares about the rules and their image; they don't care about the pupils. Image is everything to this school, education is not important. This school has affected my son's mental health, which the school are aware of, but do nothing to support. I am currently trying to transfer to Rawlins Academy as they have a more positive behavior structure. I have spoken to a few mums who have moved their kids from Humphreys to Rawlins, due to the same issues, and they are thriving now.

DONT SEND YOUR CHILDREN HERE

This school is too involved in rules and making themselves look presentable, not about students mental health or when we raise genuine issues to teachers. There's a select few teachers who honestly care, others do not realise some of us have issues or learning difficulties that make it harder for us to learn. This school is awful and will ruin students mental health and can push students to misbehaving, hurting themselves or acting up at home. Do not send your children here, it is damaging and draining.

Worst school in the area

Racism is rife. Bullying is rife. There is the odd diamond staff who is massively let down by the vile attitudes of the majority.
I urge any parent to consider views in the local community before sending their child to this shambles of a school. I wish I had listened.

Avoid avoid avoid

Awful school. Major safeguarding issues on a daily basis. Try to spend all their efforts on tackling quite minor stuff then try and sweep the big stuff like bullying and racism under the carpet.
Very poor experience.

Much worse

We have quite a few genuinely good teachers who really care about their students and their subject but some teachers are disrespectful to their pupils and extremely strict. The school/academy has become very strict and use acronyms to try and control students behaviour - which definitely does not work very well. Behaviour is still poor. Despite being shown as a "beautiful school" where we can enjoy the greenery, the schools grounds are completely littered, leaving the lunch staff to clear it up themselves and a flock of seagulls.. Some of the SLT and authority are very rude. And a LOT of very good teachers have left over the years. However, school meals are brilliant and everyone seems to enjoy them, with lots of options to choose from.

Do not recommend to anyone

This school is absolutely awful they do not help with bullies they ingnore it until students are the brink of hurting themselves they tell LbGTQ+ (LGBTQ+) to stop showing affection because it might "confuse the younger years" the only good thing about this school was a few select teachers that actually cares for students wellbeing and education but most of them left dew to how poor this school is I would not wish any child to go this school becoming an academy ruined them they care more about looking good than actually educating or support students , DO NOT SEND YOUR CHILDREN HERE

Little respect or regard for students

School isn’t great and could seriously be improved.
For some reason the school and the academy seem to believe that having really strict rules and training teachers to be disrespectful and rude is going to improve behaviour and therefore improve the school and our education. However it makes it feel as though I’ve just entered China or 1939 Germany, it just doesn’t seem like a happy, pleasant positive place to be and this is coming from someone who very rarely is told off and has never had a detention and if I have been told off it has been for a very minor issue. It just feels like a really hostile uncomfortable environment.

Humphrey perkins is a mess 😊

Humphrey perkins wants to pretend it's a private school but the difference is that private schools are actually good 😡 most of the teachers don't care about the students feelings and don't treat them like equals. Behaviour is awful in every class, litter everywhere which causes massive flocks of seagulls. Teachers are constantly quitting and I've had many classes where we had nothing but supplies for the whole year. The school may be improving but it doesn't deserve its "good" rating. The school has never cared about the students, just about their image to the public 😒
