I went to view the nursery ahead of making childcare arrangements for my little boy. The nursery looks modern, because of the covid situation we held back viewing each room/area until the children had entered a different area of the nursery. I was initially very impressed, the manager spent a lot time talking through the activities they do with the children and supporting with the development of fine and gross motor skills. We waited for the children to come in from playing outside and after about five minutes or so after they had entered the building we went to look at the outside play area which directly backs on to the Asda car park. As we entered the play ground there was a little girl wondering around outside on her own who looked around 3 years old and had been clearly been crying! She had clearly been forgotten about and whilst this is less than ideal it was the nonchalant attitude of the manager who did not at all look concerned and simply said oh go inside ***(childs name) that alarmed me. I was also less than impressed by the lack of designated sleeping areas for the children, the nursery manager mentioned there being toddler beds available, although in reality there were clearly not enough available and the majority of the children were lying on the floor literally scattered everywhere (not even on proper sleeping mats) no blankets with their heads on cushions you would expect to find on a sofa which did not look particularly clean. Other children were playing around those sleeping on the floor so I can’t imagine they had a particularly good quality nap. Had I not have witnessed these things I would have seriously considered it for my little one. I have no malicious intentions by writing this, it is simply to inform other parents.
