Getting one star like most of the hoes in dress to impress, horrible school, horrible teachers unless you were a knob then they would praise u for wiping your own arse, so many students slip thru the cracks and the smell is worse than the human centipede part two.
very good better than my previous experience at high school
i used to go to Darton and as someone that moved at the start of the school year i would say my intelligence, wellbeing, social life have improved drastically the room system takes a while to get used to but after a while it is second nature the outside spaces are better and bigger the inside spaces are packed with rubbish and random disgusting things i have to admit that aspect is better at darton and so are the teachers I'm not sure if this is my nostalgia talking but the teachers are more supportive and memorable i have only had a few meals here but the bread is stale and other products are low quality the amount of enrichment is insane from gym to chess club it is truly amazing it is hard to access school info it is there but not easy to get to
Horrendous school, teachers a pathetic and call home for the smallest of incidents. This school expects you to answer calls and drop everything to suit the needs of the school, not forgetting that parents also have jobs. However if you’re wanting to get in touch with them then you have to wait days for a response. Children are treated as a number not a human being and all this school are bothered about is grades.
AVOID AVOID AVOID
My review for horizon cc I believe it is really good
I went to another secondary school previously and I'm not sure why many others despise this school I'm sure they have their problems with it I was put off coming here because off this negativity radiating from it but it was amazing most teachers are nice support is available and education is impeccable the only problem I have with it is medical as I was on my tour of the school the teacher supervising us said and I quote "that is medical were we check if your just trying to have a day off or actually sick" I went to medical because I had a really bad headache after repeated passing out through the week and they told me to leave and go back to class after nothing of help didn't even contact parents and there was another incident with after school clubs and I was going to a club which was never mentioned as being cancelled on the first day I was trying it I have never tried to go to another one because of the embarrassment and time wasted
My eldest son is bright, polite and full of energy - he has left this school with very little to show for his outstanding attendance record. So what happens in the classrooms? What goes on in the leadership meetings? We had good feedback at parents evenings - no communication or hint from school that his results were heading for failure. The irony is our son was awarded teacher awarded grades!? Were the staff involved cover or temporary? The covid years were chaotic absence, temporary cover etc - but where was our phone call and feedback? As a family we are full of regret at our choice. This school obviously does not offer enough (or any?) support to students potentially slipping through the cracks.
Fights, get pushed down stairs, teachers yell for no reason, skirts has to be now to your pinky toe or else you get baggy black trousers which are 10 sizes to big or small
If I could give no stars I would. Unsupportive teachers and bullying. Had terrible affect on my child's mental health. When you complain they promise changes and make plans for the child but they never come to anything . Absolutely pitiful. This school should be closed down. They are only interested in attendance results not what problems are causing it.
Almost all the students there treated me badly for no apparent reason, calling me names, shoving me around, and the staff did nothing about it.
Whenever I strike someone back only to defend myself, the staff saw me being in the wrong for getting angry, saying I should never resort to violence even though they never do anything to stop it. Where's the logic in that?
Ignoring the other students only made things worse, and so was standing up for myself. And which Barnsley council member thought it was a good idea to put a secondary school on the middle of one of the main roads in Barnsley?
Nobody cares about your mental health. They only care about your attendance. My grandma died and they said they would do something the day after but guess what. They never did. You’re only allowed to wellbeing if you have a pass.
They Don’t care about mental health or bullying , had drug dealers go to the school, also don’t care .. a doctor made my mum pull me out of that school and not send me in until I found a new school as it was that damaging to me
Fine if you don’t struggle with mental health, but they quite clearly only care about attendance and how the school is seen from the outside with no concern for their students and their well-being
overall bad school, if you come to well-being or office to talk to someone they just send you back to lesson and say there’s nothing we can do. my friends grandad died and she went up to well-being because she didn’t think she could deal with being at school as he had died the day before. but no, head of her year just sent her back to lesson saying they need her in school. proof they only care about attendance not your mental health !!
