i wish i could give 0 stars. this is a terrible school. i am currently in year 8 and the education is tolerable and quite okay but it is not a good enviroment at all. the teachers and heads of years barely do anything the give a whole speech about mental health and bullying but in reality they just do it for show. the amount of students i know who have and are still being bullied is crazy the teachers here see this and fail to do anything i have expirienced this personally. not saying all teachers are awful and useless , some do care and do give support its just too low a number i could count them on my right hand and still have fingers left. the students behavior and language is atrocious the amount of boys sagging and swearing the social media it is generally a terrible enviroment with ragabonds to look up to . i would not send my children here
Teachers incite violence and bullying at this garbage school
I have recently starting searching and trying to find out what I can do to help my youngest brother who attends this school. I had barely gotten started trying to find laws or understand if the police might help my brothers, when I found a review shockingly similar to my brother's case. When I tell you the school does nothing and incites both students and teachers to bully my brother, I mean to say somethings realllly wrong with this school. The issues still ongoing and the teachers seem to want to hush everything up. Recently they even brought a video to my dad about people complaining about my brother. I got goosebumps. My dad was embarrassed, but when he started talking to me. He saw my expressions and thought through some of my questions, realising that the complaint were really strange. Eventually he even had an epiphany and told me there was a video of a student saying that everyone (didn't differentiate between students and teachers) hated my brother. My dad thought it was strange for so many complaints to show up just now and realised that the students were lying along witn the teachers exaggerating about giving him detentions for throwing paper balls in class, especially when I told him some of the stuff I found out from looking for ways to solve my brother being bullying to the extent of being threatened by these student's that he'd be stabbed or beaten. I thought about the police, but I honestly don't know if they'd help or downplay my brother being bullied as a kids fight. All I can remember is that he came home crying from secondary school on the first day he attended and was crying about students bullying him and how the teachers blamed him for everything even when he was the only injured one due to it almost being the end of lunch time. He didn't talk about what happened after. Now I feel like trash and I don't know what to do. I just want some official route that I can go through to find out exactly what's happening at this school and find some sort of way to fire or give one of the bullies a reasonable punishment. None of that, we'll tell their parents to delete the video from their kids phone garbage.
Don’t send your child to this school. I myself was a former student and this school blatantly favours the students who have the ability to boost their academic reputation. Only the supposed brighter students are afforded the opportunity to attend extra workshops and sessions with universities. Their criteria for assessing intelligence being quite biased and unfair. Students are not treated equally either in lessons, I remember feeling unfairly excluded and not being invited to extra study sessions available only to the high achievers. If you’re an ‘average’ student they do not care about you whatsoever.
Not only that but the inability of the teachers to resolve student issues, bullying and general welfare concerns is appalling. Their attention once again lies only with the troublemakers. I also remember hearing teachers remark to certain students that their friends (also students in this school) would only drag them down in life and cause trouble. Is it not their responsibility to help these supposed children? Instead of focusing only on the loudest and wildest?
Children are not treated equally at this school and it shows. Opportunities are not presented equally to everyone. Quite a few years later I have realised how important the school you attend in your childhood years is to your own personal development. If you want your child to grow into a well-rounded, mature, and successful adult, do not send them to this school!
Run . This school is the most disrespectful school where teachers don’t teach nothing . (That’s from experience) . I am advising all you parents a big warning to not let your child attend here . The rules have been changed way too much to the point where kids don’t enjoy learning and really have bad mental health issues . From this , me including other students are tired of these teachers being rude for no reason with no excuse or as they like to say “it’s school rules “ . Is it school rules to treat kids so rudely as if they don’t have a voice or feelings . I am a human and I’m not going to tolerate an adult yelling at me for no reason without lettin me understand why they doing what they do. Nose piercings and ear piercings are a big issue with teachers at this school . I’ve had a nose piercing since year 7 so I’m used to ones I already have . I get infections if I put studs and I don’t want that as it’s hard to get rid of and takes years . Teachers have token nose piercings off students (girls) without there permission . No teavher has a right to touch a student without permission . Just because it is school rules doesn’t mean that you should go and do it yourself and touch the student . If you don’t have consent don’t touch the kid !!!! That’s embarrassing to be honest and I hate that this is a new r rule . I wear a religious hijab and at pe there’s multiple teachers trying to look at my ears . Who are you to move my hijab out the way to see if I’m wearing earrings . Is there a need for me to take mt earrings off if I’m wearing a hijab . Why are you looking at my ears to begin with if I’m wearing a hijab . I don’t understand why teachers think just because there’s school rules it’s okay to physically touch a student without there consent and be rude about it when they don’t explain why . Why are you even touching students like that to begin with . I’ve wore my nose ring since a long time and it’s my last few months or maybe year or could be years of this school left . I haven’t got long and I definitely haven’t got time to be taking out nose piercings when it really isn’t bothering anyone . I just hate that they never give the students a say . I respect that there’s school rules but explian them then . Don’t touch students if your not gonna explain . Honestly rude teachers are in this school and I hate that they disrespect us using really bad language but they complain when we do it bavk . I’m not going to let someone talk to me as if I’m an object n touch me like that just to see if I’m wearing piercings if IM WEARING A HIJAB!!!!! I hate this school and I hate my life because of it . End of my review but I hope no one comes here as the new head teacher is really making my head hurt a lot and making me go through things I never knew could happen .
This school is an absolute mess.
The teachers do not give a toss about the children when kids are being called racist names and verbally abused, which is what happened to my daughter, my daughter then told a teacher who told her to ignore it which the girl then carried on calling her a nigg* and pa*ki & picks on her constantly pushing her and going into her face to which my daughter lashed out a few days later and pushes the girl and hits her back. My daughter then trying to mind her own business and ended up defending herself ends up getting put in indefinate isolation as Mr Newton said he believed the racist girl is scared of my daughter and my daughter is a lier, DESPITE the fact on one occasion he overheard the same group of girls rushing around trying to find my daughter telling every pupil there going to batter her and the teachers had to bring her back down to reception area to call her parents to get her so she doesnt catch up to my daughter. The fact i told the teacher about the bullying before they couldve done something when first told that the racism was occuring. Now my child comes out at the end of the 2nd day in isolation which is 20mins after the rest of the school finish, these girls friends were all waiting for my daughter and then jumped her after school with nobody else there. Apart from a group of boys who enjoyed the “entertainment” she was jumped by this girls mates and despite me constantly telling the school theres a problem with bullying, with racism. I would NEVER ever recommend this school. Unless you want your children beaten up, put all over social media, not listened to in regards to struggling with work told to just get on with it when asking for extra support. Then do not send your children holly lodge my mom works in a school and both my mom and her collegues have said they do not know how they have not failed their ofsted.
Firstly , i would like to talk about the teachers of the school. These teachers dont teach us anything because all they do is give us worksheets and tell us to do the work . They do not whatsoever are about the students mental health even though they tell us that we can talk to them about anything . They give personal information that we trust them with just to tell other teachers abd word gets spread to all of the students . The students then get bullied and slowly fall into depression . At break and lunch , the teachers are not aware of the students as some students start fighting and others may even start smoking and vaping . They also have embarrassed some students in a very disturbing way . Some teachers have made girls stand up in the classroom just to tell them that their skirt should be lower and that boys will get very distracted . None of these teachers not once thought to have told the girls in private instead of pointing it out in such a way .Next , i'd like to talk about the food from the cafeteria at school . This food is very dry and unseasoned so i would recommend you to get your own packed lunches into school . The pricing of the food has been increased and is very difficult for parents paying for school meals as jobs are lacking . Its not fair that we have to pay so much just to get through lunch to be prepared for lessons . As for ghe students , the students are very chaotic . They mess around so much such as throwing chairs and tables around . In some cases , they have broken windows - this results for parents paying more then hundreds of pounds just to get a window fixed . Recently , this incident has happened twice not just once . The teachers were not even aware of what had happened until they had heard the sound of glass . Students had also used glass bottles which were't even allowed in school to begin with . Some teachers are also well rude and dont speak to students very nicely . They tell us that if you be nice to someone you get the same respect back . This does not apply at Holly Lodge secondary school as teachers threaten students to call home over the tiniest things . Also , teachers have given behaviour points to students which included the whole class chatting and only gave certain people the points .It was only when there was a teacher in my class that saw that i hadn't done nothing wrong when the whole class had been doing the same thing that he told the teacher to not give me thee bahviour point . Teachers are also never aware of students vaping at the back of the class . My friends had got in trouble once and one teacher had said to them "i may be bold but im not blind " . What did statement have anything to do with them getting in troubble . It clearly just shows the bad attitude and rudeness that teachers give off . Students fall into deep depression including myself and thats why i have written this review today . One last thing is that my grades have really been lacking as they dont't explain enough . One of my teachers she explains a little too much but me and even the whole class never seem to understand because she doesn't go through it first with us . So i recommend dont come to this school its a waste of time and your transport and money to get to get to this school is a waste
THIS SCHOOL IS TERRIBLE THE FOOD IS VERY FLAVOURLESS AND SOMETIMES NOT COOKED PROPERLY SO PLEASE BRING ADULTS WHO CAN ACTUALLY COOK PROPERLYAND ENSURE NO ONE GETS POISONED. TEACHERS DO NOT CARE ABOUT STUDENTS THEY DONT LISTEN TO ANY PROBLEMS. THE LESSONS ARE NOT TAUGHT WELL ALL THEY DO IS PUT POWERPOINTS ON THE BOARD AND TELL US TO COPY IT DOWN AS IF THAT WILL HELP ANYONE. SOME TEACHERS COMPLAIN ABOUT THE LENGTH OF SKIRTS WHEN THERE ARE OTHER THINGS PEOPLE ARE DEALING WITH LIKE DEPRESSION ETC. SCHOOLS NEED TO BE SAFE FOR STUDENTS AND NOT FOR THEM TO FEEL UNCOMFORTABLE.
First of all, the food is terrible so bring a packed lunch. There is no seasoning whatsoever either. The teachers can come across as rude, and there is homophobia wherever you look. Homophobia is bad enough from kids, but teachers? Bullying is common and so are fights. The teachers dont have the capability to stop them. The education is terrible- I used to get 90% as a minimum in everything but now i barely get 30%. Every time i go into a lesson, I understand nothing- the way of teaching is to show PowerPoints and give some worksheets. We learn nothing. This is clear in the average grades on the gov website- below average. Vaping and drugs are common- 11 year olds vaping, does that not concern you?! The teachers don't care about your wellbeing they care more about your skirt length and jewellery. A few teachers have pointed out my skirt in a disturbing way that made me feel very uncomfortable. "Boys will stare at you" We are minors, nobody should be looking at my body in a way like that. Some teachers have no control over their classes, and everyone messes about, throwing paper and even chairs around- if a teacher cant control a class whats the point in teaching? Our mental health is disregarded and most of us are struggling with depression and thoughts of suicide but it seems like it doesn't matter to them. Unless you want your child to fail in life, please do not consider this school.
Teachers aren’t aware of fights that happen on breaks and lunches.
Never got to go on many trips for either fun or educational purposes.
Feels like the staff don’t sort issues quick enough to prevent them happening again.
Some teachers don’t reply to students about their options and by the time they do the spaces are filled up.
There should be more choices for the options.
