highcliffe sucks

Teachers are horrible, not a single one cares about children and only bother about attendance and uniform. They would rather children be sick in school and wanting to kts than have them under 95% attendance. There are also so many creepy teachers that clearly have a thing for kids

Great school

This school has lovely staff and a great education system. The food is not the best but as far as I am aware most people still eat it.

bad school

The school do nothing about bullying. Many incidents that have happened to me and other students have had nothing to help/prevent the bullying

Idk man

School does not treat everyone equally + Rewards those who usually behave badly for acting as a regular student. Good art courses as well as history, maths and science. Bad courses such as compting / business studies. Teachers are a gamble, either a terrible one which will affect your grades or a great one who practically carries you 🤷 Just your average school , really.

101 things Highcliffe is doing wrong

This school is terrible throughout last year I was harassed and on occasions verbal abused by a teacher who despite knowing I was autistic and struggling procced to make things more difficult for me when talking to pastoral and other members of staff about this incident it was insinuated that it was my fault and I had provoked the teacher and they couldn't possible help anymore than they had (I moved seats) Early this school year I tried to commit suicide which resulted in 2 weeks of the school harassing my mum asking why I'm not back in school when I did come back I was made to sign a form without properly getting to read it through. After the first half term the school decided that they where going to search my bags despite me repeatly asking them not to and only stopping when my mum called in after me having to tell her. My pastoral lead and an high up member of staff have touched me several times on my elbow or shoulder despite covid and me obviously disliking It. This school disrespects bounderys and the students mental and physical wellbeing in benifit for there image.

Do not recommend

An awful school to put it lightly, teachers don’t care about their subjects or you. Your only valuable to them if you have good grades and high attendance, as soon as either starts to slip for any reason, they pull you aside and say “highcliffe may not be the school for you” implying that they will soon kick you out. Many many many cases of bullying all not sorted out and one tragically left to a teen suicide, nothing is done about bullying and they haven’t learnt from previous issues of self harm or suicide because of this. Poor school facilities, blinds falling off, heating doesn’t work, can’t afford new computers and any basic need for a pupil. No support is given to those who need it, your child will be told to go to ‘jubilee’ which is a separate building on site. It’s good for a while because it’s quiet and away from others, but the women running it talks about all the children to the other kids, pushes you too far when you’re not ready and will be rude to you when she’s had a bad day. I do not recommend anyone go to this school

Could be a lot better

Truthfully, highcliffe is a good school. Yes everyone gets good grades and the teachers have high standards but as students this puts a lot of pressure on us. The school mostly care about their reputation and not the mental and physical well-being of their students. They especially pick on uniform. No skirts above the knee, no trainer socks etc. This only makes us feel more uncomfortable at school when it should be a calming environment where you can learn and enjoy your education. Even though there is a school council, most suggestions put forward by students are disregarded and ignored and the teachers decide what they think would be best for us when they aren't the ones attending the school. On the other hand, the education options that are on offer range from food tech to languages and sciences. However the silly rules and expectations get in the way of us receiving the best experience at school.

Not the best

As a former student of Highcliffe secondary i can say that it was some what enjoyable. The more you study at this school the more you realise that the higher up teaching staff care more about its reputation rather than the actual teaching. Many bullying complaints are made to teachers from students but little to nothing is done effectively. I have seen several instances where teachers didn’t even agree with the way students were treated. As a student who was affected by Covid-19 my year group was basically forgotten about at what was a very tough and traumatic time. So although mental health help and awareness is preached in Highcliffe Secondary they don’t really practice it. If you are reading this and want advice i would honestly say just expect a lot of ups and downs.

This school made me have a mental breakdown

Absolutely awful. The mental health support is basically non existent, some of the language teachers are so bad you basically miss out on a year or more of learning (Like I did) some teachers are unprofessional, wouldn't reccomend if you want your child to remain mentally healthy.
