I would rate higher but no one gets to go on phones outside which causes people getting told of and stuff and also the new uniform doesn't look right everyone is going to look Scottish
School is ok,feel I miss out on a little extra help I need sometimes due to some people in my class having adhd. Some teachers in particular like to give out detentions too easily eg. A few times laughing at something funny that someone's said out loud-that's me and maybe one or two others and not everyone that laughs.
I am not longer in Hebburn Comprehensive but during the time I was there it just got worse and worse every year. Starting with their insanely strict behaviour system that can get students suspended for simply talking in class (this depends on how strict the teacher is), to their lack of effort and support especially when it comes to mental health. During my last year of comp, I struggled with severe mental health issues, addiction, suicidal thoughts and more; and the only thing they were able to do was to refer me to an awful organisation that is meant to tackle young peoples mental health which they never attempted! Or send you to the very poor councillor on the premises who quite frankly has less knowledge on mental health than anyone else I know. The school is seriously outdated and needs to do a better job at keeping up with today's society. Talk to your students and hire the properly qualified staff or this school is quite literally doomed to fail. Thank you to all of the staff that were supportive at the time however you do have the odd few that can be there as much as they can, as they are the only ones willing to bend the rules!
did not do a good job helping me with my mental health at all and told one of my friends to stop going to therapy because they were missing maths which says a lot
This school has no understanding of allowing growth and development. The aim of this school is to make everyone conform and if you do not fit then you will be dismissed and treated badly daily, teachers take a personal dislike to you and then it continues throughout the school day/week/year, crimes as They made them into had consequences for me but not for others. Having a discussion caused friction when I was here, I felt unimportant and disrespected and was not valued as a student.
School meals were basic. Very old fashioned school teacher/student relationships. Does not take bullying seriously. Would highly recommend a different Avenue than this school.
This place had such a lack of co-ordination, the staff were unpleasant and resources for mental health support/general student well-being was horrific. Bullying and anti-social behaviour? Nothing will ever be done. I wish I had never gone here.
The teachers do care with driven and dedicated staff but they’re not very good with social issues, i.e if your child is POC, LGBTQ+ or of any form of minority, then bullying is not tackled at all within the school. ICT facilities are appalling with constant malfunctions and the cafeteria options are very limited and dated. The environment is quite toxic for young people to grow up in and support during COVID has been lacklustre at best. The school is dire need of renovation/overhaul with leaks and ceiling tiles stained with water damage.
