A friend was assaulted by another pupil in 2023, and the head of year did not discipline them, probably due to an obvious conflict of interest as they are a governor's son, and he then became current head boy which means this was probably not even logged.
The school seems to not deal with the troublemaker students, who bully others and disrupt lessons. I don't know why they can't just expel the ones who cause trouble.
The usual unreasonable SLT rules apply here, telling students that they can't use the toilet during a lesson - most of them were locked at one point. I could tell that teachers felt like they were watched like a hawk as members from the trust often came into lessons to observe them. In our year, we had to line up in silence every morning, which seemed rather pointless as it surely makes the school day feel longer so encourages absenteeism.
However, there are some truly hardworking teachers here who put their waking hours into this job. They are usually accessible in person, or via email during the evening and on weekends. The school has good facilities and is fairly clean, and is high-achieving compared to others. You can do well here if you focus on studies and stay away from the troublesome students.
It's an average school that is high-achieving, but many students would struggle due to the bullish behaviour of some groups of students, which isn't tackled by SLT. It's probably one of the best state schools in the area - the best of an average bunch. Otherwise, if you're fortunate enough to afford this, I would consider some local private schools such as OSH and RGS.
Avoid This Place at All Costs – Absolute Disaster of a School
If you’re considering sending your child to Haybridge High School in Hagley, do yourself a favor and look elsewhere. This place is a complete joke, and I wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy.
First off, the teachers are beyond useless. Most of them seem like they hate their jobs and take it out on the students. They’re either completely incompetent or on some weird power trip, handing out detentions for the most ridiculous reasons—talking? Detention. Forget your pen? Detention. Breathe too loudly? Might as well call it a life sentence. They don’t actually teach anything; they just throw worksheets at you and expect you to figure it out yourself.
The facilities are equally appalling. Half the classrooms look like they haven’t been updated since the 1970s, and the heating seems to be permanently broken—boiling in the summer, freezing in the winter. The canteen food is an abomination. Ever wanted to pay £3 for a slice of cardboard masquerading as pizza? Haybridge has you covered.
Then there’s the behavior system. The school claims to have a "strict but fair" discipline policy, which is laughable. The “popular” kids get away with murder, while everyone else is treated like a criminal for minor mistakes. Bullying is rampant, and the teachers do absolutely nothing about it. If you report anything, they either ignore you or somehow make it your fault.
Honestly, this school is a masterclass in how not to run an educational institution. If you actually want to learn in a supportive environment, this isn’t the place for you. Absolute trash.
Really bad problem with drug abuse all throughout the school mean very few resources put into the actual education of students. Generally teachers are of poor quality, although there are some very good teachers. Strict enforcement of many rules which seem to inhibit learning more than promote it
I personally hate my school the teachers say they care about your metal health but believe the bullies and harassers over the victims i was encouraged to speak up about r@p3 threats i was getting from a boy and they believed him when he denied it they also go off at you for talking to someone in a diff year than you and embarrass you in front of everyone for you skirt being above your knees or your shoes being too fancy it has made my life a living hell and i have only been there for 2 years.
